What the fuck? SNOW in southern California?
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Matt Young's topic in General Chat
-19 Celsius. My hands are shaking as I type this mainly due to a really bad cold I've gotten. -

Gomi/Penn II would be amazing. I would love to see everyone's favourite chubby Hawaiian dish it out to him again. -

I heard Vera left the UFC, but it's an unsubstantiated rumour at this point. -
What are your top five in each division?

Top Ten might be too deep for some to make a good list, myself included. This should make it easier for all. Heavyweight 1) Fedor 2) Noguiera 3) Arlovski 4) Hunt 5) Sergei Light Heavyweight 1) Shogun 2) Chuck Liddell 3) Randy Couture 4) Wanderlei Silva 5) BABALOOOOOOOOOO Middleweight 1) Franklin 2) Henderson (Alot of people think he'd beat Franklin, but I don't see it. Ditto for Lindland. I'm sure it's possible, but I think Henderson would get picked apart on the feet looking for the big punch kind of like what Busta almost did, and I think Lindland would get KTFO coming in for a clinch like Terrell did to him). 3) Lindland 4) Marquardt 5) Busta Welterweight 1) Hughes 2) GSP 3) Frank Trigg 4) Akira Kikuchi 5) Sean Sherk? Charuto? I don't want to put Karo here since there are a lot of obvious flaws in his game, I guess I'll go with Sherk, seeing as how he beat Karo twice. Lightweight 1) Gomi 2) Shaolin 3) Kawajiri 4) Sakurai 5) Hansen The only controversial thing I really see here is putting Shaolin at 2 in LW even though he lost to TK, but TK has had a lacklustre showing in his past few fights and Shaolin has not, so I put him there without hesitation. The same could be said for Trigg, but while Trigg's loss against Georges was bad, he did it on a blown ankle, so I forgive him for that one. BJ Penn vs. GSP will make the WW division look a lot more interesting. -
Bob, whatever axe you have to grind with the mods here, you have to let it go. I don't come into these threads often, but whenever I do, you're always making some stupid sarcastic comment about them and why they suck. I don't know exactly why you feel this way, but your bitterness over the situation only makes you look like a tool. Has Leena ever explained why she puts so much time into a place she hates?

PRIDE: New Years Eve

Silva wasn't announced as having an opponent anyway, and even with DSE, you'd think if he was gonna be involved in anything that they would have something less than two weeks away. -
I don't know the answer to who are the members of that group, spill the beans Kotz.

Paul's marriage was ruined over his homoerotic obsession with this place, so don't undervalue its importance to him. At $200, it's a steal.
-
I acknowledged that, but the point was that even when getting the shit kicked out of him, the guy still brings it. He's got heart and is tough to finish, which is why I mention that while on paper he'd be a solid dog to a lot of the fighters in the UFC, he is tough to handicap because he is always moving forward and will never quit.
-
Well, with all of Heath's faults the guy has very good sub defense, and he's extremely tough. A lot of people forget that he actually turned the tables on Fedor after taking a hellacious beating and came out of the first round looking pretty decent. I mean he was getting the crap kicked out of him, but he had Fedor smothered in side control and was delivering some good knees. I think Heath is starting to get underrated, he's only lost to the best of the best. Hell, while I think he'd be a solid dog against the three I mentioned above, they have the fights for a reason, so I still think he would stand a solid chance at beating any of them.
-
While Renzo is a smaller MW, I think his skill advantage on the ground more than makes up for it. I think he will get Frank on the ground eventually, and if he does Frank will be in trouble. By no means am I saying he's the favourite, but I think the matchup is closer than alot of people assume.
-
Probably true, but I'm just happy with any name fighters that they bring in. I think he'd be top five. Probably would never beat a Vera or Sylvia or Arlovsky, but he could be competitive with anyone else.
-
I actually think Renzo should win if the rules aren't heavily stacked against him. He's been much more active and defeating Pat Militech is a pretty good sign. We'll see how he does against Carlos before I make a final prediction or anything though.

Why do people like Tim Sylvia? He fights way too cautiously these days which makes for boring fights, talks through his ass most of the time (Monson is the best BJJ guy in the HW division?), and he is not really all that skilled. How much do you think Dana White hates the fact that his HW Champ, the guy that normally is the marquee guy in the company, is this gangly motherfucker? I really hope Cro Cop has signed with the UFC so he can carve up his tubby midsection with body shots. -
O'Brien had a lot of potential, a really big guy who could have been the one to GnP Sylvia with a little more experience. But now he's not needed, oh well. Too bad Heath's potential debut is overshadowed by the news of Cro Cop.

David Loiseau said he's fighting on the card as well, I don't know who though.

They call his tournament that yes, but when you ask someone in the know what the biggest event is, they will refer to his. Jackass. -

He's Canadian and is huge on the Canadian grappling scene, so anybody that trains BJJ or MMA in Canada respects the hell out of the guy. They don't call the biggest Canadian Grappling tournament the Joslin Open for nothing. -
Sherdog, though I don't know the extent of the officiality.

UFC 66 (12/30/06): Liddell v. Ortiz 2
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Mik's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Well I was referring strictly to UFC cards, but I haven't seen that one so you're probably right. I may have to go on AIM sometime soon and grab that from you. Do you have it? I'll go on anyway so I can let you in on some Montreal MMA happenings. Hughes-GSP 3 happens in Montreal in April btw. "But what if Serra wins?" Bwahahahaha. -
Lame KOAB. 0 out of 5 stars lame.
-
Check the UFC website for more info on the deal. What you're actually interested in, Dana confirmed in an audio interview: Rampage Jackson Heath Herring Ivan Salaverry Mayhem Miller Urijah Faber Rob McCollough and also said that Hughes-GSP 3 happens in Montreal in April.

Cincy isn't a serious playoff threat? They'll make it there, and they have the streak and talent to do something.

Shogun/Nakamura is a shitty choice, the rest I agree with. However this is not the best UFC lineup of the year, 57 was easily the best card, and 58 will probably end up being better as well. Lots of potential good fights, but we'll see. -

I would, he was getting splattered on the feet and would have not gotten the takedown had knees and stomps on the ground been allowed. He would not have survived that long. Also, about .03 seconds after getting the takedown, he got subbed, thus rendering it meaningless. What are you LOTC, a UFC judge?
