As long as Stephane Patry is a promoter, I will never trust the lineup on a TKO card. -
What are your top five in each division?
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Well when I think of dimensions I mean stuff like ability to change where fight takes place (wrestling/judo) as well as ground skills and striking skills. I don't necessarily include GnP in there, though I guess you could. I wouldn't say Diego is a great or solid wrestler, he couldn't take Alessio down once. I'd say he's a decent wrestler, who is an amazing grappler, and a poor striker. Aoki may have better takedowns than I give him credit for, but from what I've seen he pulls guard an awful lot. I think Hansen will GnP him into oblivion, after being frustrated a few times. -

Diego is pretty one-dimensional. -
PRIDE: New Years Eve

That kind of pisses me off though, how is it a good thing that is non-title? You're saying the stip saves him, but if he loses it will only make him more of a paper champ than before. What is the point of having a title if you don't defend it? -

Like Lei said, Wanderlei last fought at HW, so he doesn't count. Anyway, I'd probably tab him at 4, behind Chuck and Shogun who have looked unbeatable barring Coleman's roid rage, Arona who I still think has done more in two fights against Wanderlei than vice versa. He is fighting Lil Nog pretty soon I think, so if he wins that then he will re-emerge, but I think he's over the hill now. Too many fights, even if alot of them were against cans, has taken its toll on his body. He looks worn down, combination of steroids probably as well. Hell, I think Babalu could probably take him if he fought a smart fight, though I thought Babalu would show a lot more in his last fight too. I am still amazed that a guy as one-dimensional as Aoki can dominate fighters in multiple divisions like he does. -
I remember Bas talking about how everyone said he couldn't kick Aleks in the head, then Bas bragging about how he did it. He's right, Aleks is almost as tall as Tim. Even if he couldn't do it, does it matter? It's not like he's a one-trick pony. He could beat however the hell he wants, including on the ground. Brandon Vera is apparently a muay thai world champ, but I don't know the credentials of that when stacked up against Cro Cop's K-1 resume. Then again, K-1 stars can come into MMA and get knocked down by Naoya Ogawa of all people.

+360 was a ridiculous line. A new Year's thread needs to be done after both of the UFC's and PRIDE's new year's shows. -
Miami is the closest thing to a Montreal that the USA has. Noone speaks English, extraordinary amount of Europeans and various other refugees, popular tourist destination, despite it being pretty dangerous in some places. So, you can take that for what it's worth. Noone realizes how bad Miami is until they actually go there; and I'm not talking about that thin stretch of tourist trap known as Miami Beach, I'm talking about the city proper. Practically everyone that moves there from out of state hates it and moves back, unless they're from another country or don't speak English. That's actually pretty wrong. Montreal has plenty of English speaking people, especially downtown. In fact, there are many residents that don't speak French at all. It's also not dangerous, doesn't have as many immigrants/refugees as Toronto, and isn't nearly the biggest French city in Quebec. Go up north for that shit. I don't know much about Miami, but from what you said they aren't really similar. However I thought it was a nice place, I mean it can't be all shitty? Harper is pretty brilliant in doing what he did, and if Dion is elected leader of the Liberal party tonight expect the Conservatives to crush the reds come the next election.

Yeah I didn't know about the back-taking. Still, he survived it this time, and actually took Miller's back, which is more than I've seen from him in the past. I just hope he keeps smashing cats. Very few can match his excitement as far as GnP is concerned. He's vicious with that shit. -

Yeah I wrote Frank off completely after the Condit loss. Maybe him talking about how his head wasn't in it wasn't an excuse. Apparently it was pretty dominant/convincing. After seeing what GSP did to Mayhem, I know he's not an easy guy to stop. Maybe 185 is the right weight for him. He would kill Lutter. Come on. -

I really want Rogan to win, just for kicks. -
See I don't get that about ratings systems. In my mind, five out of five is flawless, and would be more than just one of the best albums of the year. A perfect rating shouldn't be thrown around a few times a year I think.

Dude, you're on the internet. If you want porn you can pretty easily get it.

Hunter's Torn Quad should kill himself
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to bob_barron's topic in No Holds Barred
No, they just have a Pro Wrestling part of this forum here for no reason at all. People don't actually go into it. It's just there to look good. Oh, thanks for clearing that up. -

You are correct in that statement, maybe I should say an "exponentially more exciting version". -

Jacare already has a few MMA fights under his belt, and in the one loss, his first fight in which he got KO'ed by a veteran in Macao (sp), it was because he wanted to prove he could strike. He kept getting tagged but kept coming forward as well. Stupid strategy, and the rest of his fights he wins in under two minutes or so because he plays it smart and takes the guy down, but I guess it's a good sign that he can handle it. Thing is, his sub grappling style is very dynamic. He works well off his back, constantly being on the offensive as well as doing well at controlling the person on top (which is useful to defend strikes). More importantly, he's' an excellent wrestler, so in MMA, he should end up on top most of the time. Throw in the fact that he's a damn good athlete who is quite strong for his size (unlike say a PDP) and that's why I think he's got more potential than a Garcia or even Roger Gracie. I think he will essentially be a much more exciting version of Paolo Filho. -

Do you know the background of BJ? Btw, apparently Jacare has been picked up by PRIDE. Of all the Sub grappling superstars, he's definitely the guy who I think would do best in MMA. -
Well if the other half was black people/celeb jokes I guess they should all sue too.
