Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in No Holds Barred
Retire from every part of the board and stay here. -

We should make this place a true democracy and be allowed to vote on bannings. Don't worry, people wouldn't just vote to ban someone they don't like. -
Can you read? He said EvanderHolyfieldsMissingEar. That's not actually your name.

Brock Lesnar taps to Matt Hughes...
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Well there you go. And Kurt Angle schooled Brock when they faced. So maybe this is mostly hype after all. -
I watched V for Vendetta while blitzed on Sunday. Most intense movie viewing experience I've had. It was definitely the best movie I've seen all year, but I have to watch it in a clear state of mind just to make sure. I felt a much more emotional impact with it because of the high. The only other movies I've seen while high were all comedies that were for the purpose of just laughing at stupid shit. Puff Puff Pass definitely did it for me.

He may not have been serious, but he was definitely making a case for himself as if he was, bragging about taking boxing and muay thai and what have you. I'm pretty sure if I took him up on his offer, he (sadly) would have taken it.

Why RJB? What has he done that warrants a ban? EDIT: Never mind just read the thread. I'm so far behind on what's going on in this place. -
Here's the start of the idiocy. I feel dumb for ever participating. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...774&st=1980

I think they faced each other but I'm pretty sure Coleman lost. You could be right though, my memory is a bit hazy. -

D-TAB? -
I don't mind that Dre isn't rapping, it's just that the friends he chooses on his second album were a lot worse. I don't really like him rapping much at all, most of the best songs on the first Chronic have someone else carrying the song, like Snoop. In fact some of my favourite songs are on it don't have him at all.

I'll give you the mainstream part as it certainly opened a lot of eyes as to what was going on in the ghettoes of South Central LA, when most people had no idea places like that existed. I failed to take that into account when people made a list like this. I will admit their influence is huge, although whether that's a good thing or not is debatable. However, as far as the music was concerned I'm not a fan. The first three tracks on Straight outta Compton are good, but the rest that don't really feature Ice Cube suffer because of it. MC Ren I find to not have very good flow or lyrics (dude was a real bad ma'fucka, I will give him that) and I think never really offered anything. Eazy was really bad and was only popular because he was a charismatic guy who fucked a lot of women (and we all know how that ended). Ice Cube was an amazing writer, but I still say that being the humble beginnings for two guys that would go on to do greater things afterwards only hurts their rep, since Cube and Dre should get props for their solo stuff rather than this group effort. Good production with some bad rappers. This is a problem on the second Chronic album too; too many of Dre's friends hurting the overall flow of the songs.

Brock Lesnar taps to Matt Hughes...

Mark Coleman wrestled on an olympic level I think, I think Coleman placed like 5th or something in the 92 games. Mark Kerr actually beat Kurt Angle. I'd say they were better in terms of amateur accomplishments. So it begs the question; I know amateur accomplishments don't always mean a whole lot, but it's not like Coleman and Kerr didn't showcase their skills in MMA. They actually were great at utilizing their wrestling. So while Brock is a lot bigger, by about 40 lbs, is this just another case of any wrestler entering MMA, just with a lot of Pro wrestling hype? Those guys were great athletes themselves. Also, Brock is now training with Royce Gracie, not MFS. I don't know why he switched. This could only be worse for him as MFS is one of the best camps in the world. Also considering how the last fight Royce had against a guy from MFS went, it just makes this even weirder. -
PRIDE in USA, October 21st!

Fair enough. I only asked because I like a little bit of certainty, but yeah, I guess you are saying what I think you're saying. Doesn't surprise me though. -
La Parka whooped his ass like four times over.

He tends to take things personally on a messageboard way too much. Dude needs to learn how to chill. I'd like to hear some justification for NWA. It seems that most of the people listing them aren't really giving much. I can't see it happening. I think the fact that the only two people who were good at what they did (Cube and Dre) went on to do much better things once leaving. That's pretty damning evidence.

Steiners vs. Sting/Luger from Superbrawl 91 OR Steiners vs. Bret/Owen from WWF World Tour '94 I'd probably be the only one to pick the second one.

Not really, he's stating what most people already know. Though good on him for telling DRH.

f*ck C'mon now, don't need to censor yourself. Outkast is the best rap...entity? Group or not, they put out better rap albums than anyone else so whatever list with groups should have them top it. If you were to list the "Top 10 Solo Rappers", no doubt that Andre 3000 would make my list, but not Big Boi. "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" and "ATLiens" were classic CD's without a doubt, and "Aquemini" were near classics, but after that they fell off IMO, and so did there Hip Hop sound(Actually that was after "Stankonia", but "Stankonia wasn't as good as their 1st three CD's, it was too much mainstream for me). Too me, while they are a Top 5 group, I just can't place them above Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, and BDP. I agree with the first two albums being classic, but unlike you I put Aquemini on a higher level. To me it's the best rap album I've ever heard. It's got over an hour of music with no filler, it goes off on a variety of topics, it is much more experimental than the first two but it pulls it off. They tried a bunch of different things and were successful at it. To me they are what hip hop is all about; making innovative music with a stamp that makes it your own. They didn't try to copy anyone else and did it their own way. On top of this, they were able to speak on a variety of issues, mostly dealing with the black community, without coming off as preachy or lame. The best of both worlds in terms of lyrics and production, which is why I think they're the best group. I am not really a fan of Wu Tang Clan, I have not heard much but I have 36 Chambers and while it's good, it didn't blow me away or anything. Public Enemy I'm not a huge fan of either. Whoever has listed NWA is wrong. Most overrated rap group ever.

Did they just smoke weed or did they do more hardcore drugs? When people point out the negative effects of weed by using hippies as an example, they fail to realize that those guys and gals did acid and a whole bunch of other crazy shit too.

Ultimate Fight Night VI
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I'm picking Diego to win the main event, though this is as close to a pick'em fight as one can have. I just think while his striking is not as good his wrestling is superior and while Karo might get a nice judo throw here or there, Diego's double will probably work more often. Also, I think Diego is better off his back so I think he will eek out a judges' decision. I don't see a finish, but I'd like to. I'm cheering for Diego 100% though, I've done a complete 180 on the guy. I used to hate him, but then when everyone else started bashing him just for being cocky and stupid while ignoring the fact that he was a damn good fighter, I just had to root for him. It sucks that he doesn't get respect from most fans because the guy deserves it. Koscheck via smashing of Goulet. Lister via big brother twisting of Sasaki. Ugh, Leben on TV again? And he's facing a guy who he's expected to beat too. It seems like the UFC is just focused on pushing this guy. I hope he loses but he'll probably win a decision. Don't care about any of the undercard fights really. I can't believe they brought back Anthony Torres. Christ, the UFC is milking this reality show for all it was worth. I'm afraid we may never get a card like UFC 49 or 52 again. They're gonna be spread so thin they won't be able to stack up something like that.
