    UFC 62: Babalu Vs. Liddell...

Shonie Carter at 185 is a can. Jorge Rivera is a decent win I guess. Leben is actually one of the few good ones. He was just in over his head with Anderson.

The big question is whether the movie will be worse than this thread. I say yes, unless WP continues to one-up himself.

I've been overrating TUF fighters long enough. If Loiseau comes in with the right gameplan (as he should) this should be a slaughter.

It was late, I saw it at another forum, and thought it would be funny to post it. If it makes you feel any better, much like how I would feel if I was smashed and fucked the chick in the picture, I felt bad in the morning.

Yeah but that was like what, 4 or 5 years ago? Cro Cop is much different now. He won't be blowing any more kisses I promise.

    UFC 62: Babalu Vs. Liddell...

I tried to find your HL on Youtube to explain the Machete reference, but alas, it was not there. Babalu has a better chance than Randy did at beating Chuck, at least for their third fight. Randy took Chuck down once, and remember while Babalu isn't as good a wrestler (though I think at this point he's close) he is light years ahead in the submissions game.

The best memory I have of Joe Son is him coming into the octagon after Royce dropped out at UFC 3, celebrating like he did something. Just out of the blue being the cocky sumbitch we'd later find him to be, and Big John (I think) telling him to leave. Koscheck is a bad matchup for Goulet.

    Good lifting plan?

BJJ is effective in a street fight because rather than submit him, you can just smother him, get a dominant position and beat the hell out of him. If he hasn't even heard the name Gracie, he probably will have no choice but to wait for you to stop. Brian; when you spar do you use a lot of your strength or do you purposely not try to overwhelm people and use technique? I find it hard to find the balance of being aggressive in technique yet not going crazy without any technique. I guess controlled aggression is the key.

    Good lifting plan?

Did being two years off make that much of a difference? I'm worried about being five months off now. How long did you do it before you took the two year break?

    Make an outlandish statement

We used to have this in other folders (I remember the thread in the music folder the most) and it always led to good debate. The premise is fairly simple; make a statement that you know goes against popular opinion, put it as matter-of-factly as you can, and then be prepared to debate with all the people that disagreed with you. It got really good some of the other times I saw it, and I'm pretty sure this type of thread goes back to the old smarks board days, I don't know for sure though. I'll go first to get the ball rolling. Tito Ortiz is not a boring fighter. To the contrary, he actually makes for quite exciting fights most of the time.

    Good lifting plan?

First off thanks for the info Brian. Well I'm not working with weights, I guess I should have pointed that out, I'm mainly concerned with the isometric exercises (I think that's the right word). Also I dont know if I will have surgery yet, so I guess I can skip the first level. So those exercises are supposed to strengthen ligaments, but do they work for the whole muscle group as well? So far I've only been doing wall slides and weightless squats, and lots of them. I heard they're good for ligament repair, and they also seem effective for building up the major muscle groups as well. I like some of those balancing exercises, I think those will work really well. Couple of questions, what exactly is an agility ladder? Also, what do you mean by "hopping back" in the running with resistance? It seems that you'd constantly be moving forward. There's lots about lifting in this thread, but does anyone have any tips regarding nutrition? I'm pretty clueless on how to eat right.

Well, that's what I figured, but I guess I just didn't find it that funny.

I'll be the first to admit that I didn't really get the Tupac skit. Is it supposed to be Tupac or some guy impersonating him? I don't get it.

    Good lifting plan?

Bumping this up for a quick question; I'm currently rehabbing my knee, as I think there might be a problem with my ACL or MCL (haven't had the MRI yet). What are some good ligament strengthening exercises? I have been doing wall slides and they seem to be working, but I figure some people here might have some good ideas too. Brian you do BJJ, you know the toll that shit takes on your knees.

    UFC 61: Bitter Rivals

With the Heavyweight division where it is, he's much more than a prospect. Too good for the lesser guys (finished Scherner, Silva and Eilers beyond convincingly). The only guys left for him are the top level guys, at least UFC Top Level.

If the guy isn't ready for Arlovski now, he won't ever be. They have to make that fight now. That seems to be the most logical, either that or put him with Buentello, then Arlovski. He should get a title shot within the first half of 2007. If only he were like 20 lbs heavier, and not in the Frank Mir way.

Who do do you blame for wrestlers' deaths?

I was thinking earlier today about Owen's death out of the blue, and how Vince reacted regarding the whole situation. It seemed that whenever someone tried to point out some of the things surrounding the incident he'd dodge the question by accusing them of trying to exploit a tragedy. It seemed pretty sneaky on his part, especially since it was later found out how horrible the whole thing went. Some would say Owen's at fault partly for doing it, but I disagree. Sure he may have chosen to do it, but it was the responsibility of the company to make sure everything went well and he didn't get hurt. It's been done in the past, it's been done since I'm pretty sure as well. Even though he felt awkward about it, he still went ahead and did it because he trusted the company. Big mistake, obviously. Now I think that's pretty clear cut, but what about the wrestlers who died due to self-inflicted habits? The guys who did tons of rec. drugs as well as steroids and the like? Even then, I think the company shares a good deal of the blame due to the amount of pressure put on the wrestlers, and their schedule. You couldn't miss a date and risk losing your job, and if you did, work elsewhere was scarce after the territorial days were all but over. Reading some of the horror stories in Dynamite Kid's book about the things he did are enough to convince me things were over the line. Crazy thing is, he's one of the ones that is alive. Just like with his reaction to the reporters surrounding Owen, Vince does weird things when confronted with this kind of stuff. Slapping Armen Keteyan's clip board as well as threatening to beat him up is a pretty big sign, since that's the kind of intimidating attitude he'd probably have towards his employees in regards to them and their work schedule. Then you have the fact that he supplied them with all sorts of drugs as well, and it paints an even worse picture for him. Of course, some of you feel that maybe Vince is not to blame at all (I'd like to hear your reasoning) while others think he shouldn't take as much. Those with more knowledge than I in this situation should talk more about the kinds of things that happened, as well as some stories and such that would make a case for whatever side they hold.
