UFC 59: Reality Check
Your Paragon of Virtue replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I wouldn't say Franklin's subs are basic. He's got a nice triangle, and shows good offense from the mount. He could have handled Rivera a lot sooner than he did if he chose to take the fight to the ground. Anderson Silva was submitted by Ryo Chonan and Daiju Takase. He was also getting handled by Newton on the ground, a bona fide 170 guy, before he decided to stall after Newton took a chance and gave up position. Anderson Silva is a fairly one-dimensional fighter. As for who will be the best fighter, I don't know about success since he's in the most stacked division in MMA, but Josh Koscheck is P4P the best fighter on that show in my opinion. A Koscheck/Diego rematch would be pretty huge I think, considering they've both been doing quite well for themselves since the show ended. Koscheck seems to have improved more than anyone else, while also being a great athlete and young. -
While I admit that in the past I have been uppity about certain topics, I've mellowed out a bit recently. It makes sense really. I mean look at it this way; you have been posting here for two and a half years, while I have been here for three and a half. There isn't much difference between 23 and 25, so you may not have changed much, but there's a huuuuge difference between how you feel about things when you're 19 as opposed to when you were 16.

Anderson Silva would get destroyed by Franklin if he was smart. Takedown, GnP than he can finish him with strikes or a submission. I also wouldn't say that Tito is a lesser version of Couture just yet. I believe the guy has improved a ton and would like to see how he would do this year. I could see him beating Chuck this year. -
That's why I like the Upstandingfuckingcitizens. It's filled with some ridiculous people, but that's only because they have a strict no ban policy. It truly is a forum where you can tell your opinions and not have to get banned for calling someone a name. I've been pretty much desensitized due to being subjected to the worst of the worst there. http://www.upstandingfuckingcitizens.org/phpbb/

UFC 59: Reality Check

More hilarity: Sylvia also said that he can last five rounds while he doesn't think Arlovski has the gas to. Don't worry Tim, it won't take AA that long to put you away. -
Hey Lei, you gotta correct him on the proper spelling of your name.

For those of us who aren't watching this, which Doctor are you talking about? General thoughts, recap? -
UFC 59: Reality Check

I forgot that the card is called Reality Check, so it wouldn't make sense for the reasoning behind the title to not be in the main event. Sylvia said that according to Jorge Gurgel he's a purple belt, maybe close to a brown. He also said that if he wants to he can take down Arlovski, no if's and's or but's about it. I'll give you some time to take that all in. Done laughing? He said that Arlovski wilts under pressure and that he can't handle the GnP that Sylvia would deliver if he wanted to, due to his weak chin. Now I really want Arlovski to knock this dipshit out. It's ironic that this card is titled Reality Check, because Sylvia certainly needs one. Tim Sylvia is like a fat girl that brags about how hot she is and wears revealing clothing totally oblivious to reality, only to cry herself to sleep at night eating chocolate pudding. -

They've been building this one up as the title fight being on last. That was back when Tito went on last regardless of what other fights were on the card. That doesn't happen anymore though, but it should in this case. American Dragon, you will probably have the worst pick record at the end of this thing. -

Also, one is a title fight while the other isn't. Still, Tito vs. Forrest is the big draw and should go on last. To me this fight is one of the biggest fights in UFC history. Sylvia vs. Arlovski is another train wreck waiting to happen and isn't special or anything. I'd put the LHW fight on last and give it top billing. However I am pretty sure the HW Title fight will go on last mainly because it is a title fight. It's gonna be a bad move because the heat for the Griffin match will be way off the charts while Arlovski's fight will just be like any of his other ones, not that crazy. I still think at UFC 53 they should have put Franklin's fight on last, as that was guaranteed to be more competitive and a bigger deal than the main event. -
...Mike Bisping. He won the strength and conditioning tests. I don't think he'll have a problem with any of the fighters there except for Hamill, and not because Hamill is a great fighter or anything. England doesn't have many wrestlers and that's the only weakness in Bisping's game. Anyway, they're both on the same team so unless they have to fight each other before the finals, expect Bisping to be there. edit: Ok, you might say that Mike Whitehead also displayed a lot of cardio in training even though he turned out to be a pile of shit, but I never believed in Whitehead. I've seen Bisping fight and the other 7 LHWs aren't even close to his level. This is definitely the most misbalanced level of talent in any weight division of any TUF season. I wouldn't have expected an unranked 155'er to have beaten a top twenty Middleweight either, but that's exactly what happened when Florian beat Leben. Some of the other guys aren't as untalented as we think.

Sylvia has power, and anybody can be caught. They don't match up well at all, but I can see it happening. I'd give it about 10 to 1, in terms of odds. If I were betting, whatever the line was on Arlovski, as long as it was reasonable like +300 or something, I'd put money on it. -

What's your reasoning for Rashad not having that toughness, I think he has some. Koscheck is proven by his winning the national championship with those injuries I suppose. But yeah, I would say that Koscheck is the much more accomplished wrestler, but from what I can tell through his fights, Rashad is still a really good wrestler. There are cases with guys who don't show much outside of MMA, for whatever reason, but still have a shitload of skills that transfer over well to MMA, when they do get the chance to show them off. -

Hopefully now people will realize that Kocheck is far from the "blanket". He finished a really good welterweight, while Leben struggled with a mediocre guy who had a style catered to him. TUF 2 looks to be the worst season so far, in terms of quality fighters. Evans struggled with a TUF 1 castoff, while Stevenson lost to Josh Neer, who is decent but not that good. I also have a Imes losing to Christianson is kinda sad too, especially by armbar. -

Are any of these fights worth watching? The fact that all of them went to decision makes me lean towards no. -
Okay, now who changed the subtitle to talk about Herman? I'm confused here.

Quinton Jackson is not a bigger name than Franklin at this point, no matter how you slice it. If you're talking strictly popularity, than he's definitely not as popular as a lot of the guys from TUF. If I were the UFC, I wouldn't sign him. For the money he wants, it's not worth it.
