    Campaign 2008

Man. I was soooo saving my 300th post to make a grand statement. But, after reading Marvin's last post, I really must find the time to raise money for charity. Thus ending my desire for an historic 300th post. The charity I will devote my time to? THE EDUCATION OF INTERNET MORONS So that Marvin will finally wise the fuck up. Constitution? Really? Those words are from the State of the Union address in 1944 and were addressing the future Post-War world, and post World War II America. Guess what, there were LOTS of miners and connected jobs (Steel workers, Foundry workers, etc.) in that day and age. At the time, it was part of your generational pride to (thanks Bruce Springsteen) "like your daddy done". So, FDR is saying that every man is entitled to a job they find pride in, one that provides for his family, allowing the nation to prosper. In today's America, you could change the "mines" to the "cubicles". The meaning is the same. And I think we are all entitled and must strive for a country that stays true to FDR's concept of prosperity, freedom, and security. And yet, you are somehow against this? With sarcasm that is not funny to boot? I am ashamed to be part of the same race as you. And by that, I mean human. If you even qualify for that. To quote Plato : "You sir, are a fucking moron." I have never, not once, read anything "original" in your own words. You just find the worst possible quote you can, and style your entire viewpoint around it. And then you add to it with your own rhetoric and B.S. My friend, you do not apply shit to shit to remove said shit. For the love of all that is holy, please read your posts as a rational human being before posting them. If you cannot do that, please send them to me. I will proofread and fact check them. I am all for dissenting opinions. But, an opinion must have some rationality and truth behind it, or it is just complete bullshit. For example: "My opinion is that the best way to remove yard weeds is to cover myself in bacon grease and roll in my yard." Sure. It is an opinion. But it's a fucking stupid one. And it should be called as such. So. For the sake of you. For the sake of me. For the sake of America. For the sake of North America. For the sake of the Western Hemisphere. For the sake of all mankind. Stay in the Sports Forum. Where delusional, stupid thought is accepted. Trust me. I know stupid, delusional, irrational thought is okay for a sports fan only. I should know. I am a Cubs fan.

KISSINGER: Well, I am in favor of negotiating with Iran. And one utility of negotiation is to put before Iran our vision of a Middle East, of a stable Middle East, and our notion on nuclear proliferation at a high enough level so that they have to study it. And, therefore, I actually have preferred doing it at the secretary of state level so that we -- we know we're dealing with authentic... (CROSSTALK) SESNO: Put at a very high level right out of the box? KISSINGER: Initially, yes. And I always believed that the best way to begin a negotiation is to tell the other side exactly what you have in mind and what you are -- what the outcome is that you're trying to achieve so that they have something that they can react to. Now, the permanent members of the Security Council, plus Japan and Germany, have all said nuclear weapons in Iran are unacceptable. They've never explained what they mean by this. So if we go into a negotiation, we ought to have a clear understanding of what is it we're trying to prevent. What is it going to do if we can't achieve what we're talking about? But I do not believe that we can make conditions for the opening of negotiations. We ought, however, to be very clear about the content of negotiations and work it out with other countries and with our own government. SOURCE: CNN.COM To be fair, he says "Secretary of State"-level. But I gotta think OBAMA just owned on this knowledge.

Gibson should have held up Flash Cards that said "YES" and "NO", then asked her to pick one. Man, was she prepped as hell for this interview. I'm gonna go light myself on fire now.

Just last night one of my friends and I were talking sports and politics, and I said that I would let a hot Republican chick blow me, even though I am not a fan of Republicans. I'm just sayin'.

I just got home from a gig and watched the whole speech on youtube. It was a non-network feed, with no crowd shots or anything. Just the podium and the speaker. And I was blown away. Wow. My friend and I were giving Obama "Bip!"s. It was awesome. I have not been that drawn into a speech in my life time. I will proudly vote for the guy I once bummed a smoke to. (and yes...he joked about not telling his wife) Because that is a man that I think can lead us now. Right now. The future is here. Along with all of our hopes and fears and dreams. The future is now. And I would like to ask the Senator from Illinois to open the door to it.

    Freaks & Geeks

This show and Arrested Development were shows I watched when they were on, and nobody I knew ever knew what the hell I was talking about. Now, everybody is an expert. It always feels good to be ahead of the curve.

    The Dark Knight

Ummm...my basis for Hugh Jackman was The Prestige...which...I love....and Jackman and Bale had great chemistry in it. So, how is this worse than every other pick in this thread? Wait...if the person flaming me is a moron (oh...he probably is) Nolan was behind The Prestige. It had Bale, Jackman, and Caine in it. I'm pretty sure it would work. But hell...what do I know? Not like I have inside info about the movies at all.... I think Jackman can stand up to Bale's look. And add a dark side, as he, other than his Wolverine thing, has proven to be quite the actor. And...are you against my Hoffman pick for Penguin?

    The Dark Knight

Let's look at how it ended: What I see here is a huge void in Gotham waiting to be filled. I could see an "arms dealer" moving in on the territory. He opens up nightclubs and slowly starts to consolidate power, to the point where he has Gordon attacked. This could be The Penguin (Philip Seymour Hoffman). I could see a rich, MIT computer genius move into Gotham to take over Fox's job. He could be confused for Fox by The Penguin, based on info "snuck" out of Arkham. After the brutal attack, the genius becomes delusional, bent on destroying everything, even offering his services to The Penguin to help steal from the richest man in town, Bruce Wayne. This man is a hacker, known for leaving elaborate clues. The Riddler (Hugh Jackman). Bruce, meanwhile, notices an incredibly sexy woman while out on the town. Turns out she is a master manipulator, using her womanhood to get what she wants, from anyone she wants--Bruce Wayne, The Penguin, The Riddler, Scarecrow, etc. She considers men toys. She is building an empire of women (Call Girls) who get information and money using the same techniques. She seems harmless, but, is not. The Catwoman (I have no idea). After Gordon is attacked, and the new villans move in, a war breaks out between The Penguin and Gotham's finest, for control of the city. A battered and wounded Gordon is seen bursting into Police HQ, ascending to the roof, and turning on the new Batsignal. Batman is needed. Fill in the blanks as you like....

    The Dark Knight

I am still too blown away to write a review or opinion on Dark Knight yet. But...I will add my .02 for casting of future bad guys... I really liked THE PRESTIGE alot, and loved the chemistry between Bale and Hugh Jackman. Jackman for Riddler? Maybe not as an all out villian, though. If Riddler was going to be an all out villian...Crispin Glover. Also...I don't think Dent/Two Face is dead. I think they hid him away...since only really Batman and Gordon know what happened...

    The Concert Thread

Moshing's swan song was July 11 1995. Soldier Field. Chicago. At least two separate pits moshing and surfing in 100 plus degree heat to Otis Rush and Bad Religion. By the time Pearl Jam took the stage, we were all too tired. I haven't moshed since except as a joke at a Seaweed show last year.
  13. Yeah...because after Friday...no one will ever think of Christian Bale as a guy who can carry a huge budget summer blockbuster.... I think the teaser just peaked my interest. Alot.

    Box Office Report...

As far as the 3am and 6am showings of Dark Knight...think about it this way...here in Seattle the bars close at 2am. So, I know Bartenders/Waitresses/Cooks etc that are going to the 3am showing. I also know people going to the 6am show because they work downtown and have to be in by 9am...so...go see the movie before work. It's strange...but...it means people will go see it. And, I think you will see ALOT of people going Friday AND Sunday. If the movie is good (which I think it will be) I am going at 3pm on Friday and will probably go late Sunday night to see it again. I love Batman and have been waiting for this film since Gary Oldham flipped the Joker card. But...let's think this through...with the extra showings, etc, it has a STRONG change at $150 million. I know of families and friends on TIGHT budgets right now...so movies are a luxury. Most of them have not seen summer movies yet...or they saw maybe Iron Man...but...they are all waiting for Dark Knight...with most of them already buying their tickets in advance.... It's gonna be huge.

    George Carlin dead

I am ashamed that someone mentioned fucking Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy in a thread devoted to George Carlin. George Carlin would not have pissed on either of those guys if they were on fire. In the future, I can see Chris Rock being a "Fuck, that sucks" kind of death, with Eddie Izzard being one my friends and I will do a shot over. Last night we did many...everyone had to drink after a Carlin reference. It was fun. RIP Rufus

    Future Feuds

Here are some I would like to see: Danielson/ HBK Danielson signs, wins a squash match on a hyped debut on RAW, grabs the mic and says "Shawn...I'm coming for you." You build it up over time, no physical interaction. You build it up to the point where Danielson basically says "You retired your idol. I want to retire my teacher and idol." A slow burn to a blazing three match feud would rock. With Danielson retiring HBK during a ladder match. I'm sorry...that would rock. CM Punk vs. HHH Same kind of idea. A slow burn. The "Internet Darling" vs. The "Internet Devil". Let em rip on promos, no holds barred. Punk following around HHH reminding him that if he does win his match....the briefcase can get cashed in. In other words, mind games with HHH. Orton/Cena vs. Kennedy/Cade I dunno. I liked Orton and Cena when they worked together on RAW. And battling two other "younger" stars would be a good feud. Christian/Edge I know this is a SUPER LONG SHOT but...this is a "Future Feuds" thread. Bring back Christian to feud with Edge before Edge and Taker get it back on again at one point. It would be a good feud, I think we can all agree Christian has way more confidence then he did during his WWE run. I never thought of him as "washed up" when he went to TNA. I think he could come back and be a legit face vs. Edge heel. Just my opinion, disregard as you like.

I'll take these two...unless somebody wants to protest...sorry for the delay... and... Sorry the image is so small on the second one...couldn't find a better picture... So, The Who album I prefer to Tommy, actually. And Naked's album was a favorite of mine back when I was in college...and there is a really sweet memory around the whole album...one I'd like to have on a desert island with me.

Wait a second...I am confused...how can Garth's Double Live be considered a pick? If that is the case...why can't I pick any of the over 100 commercially available Pearl Jam "Bootlegs" which are just live shows?
  25. What does that...have to do...with anything...PERIOD... Merely pointing out that Rock comes from a family with a long history in the wrestling business, who had to put up with a lot of crap, and after all the hurdles and struggles on the path paved for him, he reached the top of the industry. He has thus earned the right to walk away. Job well done. The point of making this statement is along the lines of the "American Dream" of sorts, where through all the hardships and such endured by the previous generation, you hope to make it to the "top". And sorry if my "typing" style bothers someone...especially after a long night. I guess I should just start posting in every thread with one sentence replies that carry no topic of conversation further. That way I can "fit" your mold. Oh...wait...I owe you nothing. Just like The Rock. FULL CIRCLE!
