John Cena calls out the The Rock for leaving wrestling
RHR replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Why would he? Think about...Rock comes from a family of "jobbers" and "mid-carders" and "gimmicks"...he is the one person in his family who made it...because of all the hard work before...make no mistake about it...handing out an Oscar is not flavor of the fucking week...he is gaining respect....and he made it happen because of the roads traveled before him (do you really think Rocky Johnson was never called a nigger?) Rock (Dwayne) rose to the occasion....and made the most of it...period....who among you was never entertained by him? THINK ABOUT IT!!!! We all got our time...as wrestling fans...and we never have to see Rock end up hosting American Gladiators...or doing spite ful shoot videos....we get him....wrestling Austin/Benoit/Foley/HHH...we got him at his prime...and we enjoyed it....give him time...to forge his way...in his life...PERIOD. I love the Rock...I don't miss HIM...I miss when a person could take over his role and get it over...Rock/Austin/Foley/Taker/Goldberg/Rey Rey etc....got over on theri own....same for Y2J and Michaels....let's not point out the short...let's just let Vince know we remember the good...and we want it again...guys like Cena/Orton/Benjamin/London/Punk etc can bring it...just let them go... I'm sorry...I love wrestling...and Rock does not owe me...or anyone else...a damn thing... -

Uhhhh....yeah....moosed.... See...one night here in the Emerald city my friend and I thought it would be a good idea to have some of that weed stuff the kids are all doing these days...then we went to late night happy hour...on the way there my friend made fun of me...so...i told him i was going to throw him in front of a bus...only...bus came out as "moose"...so...now I keep threatening to throw him in front of a moose...made even funnier by the fact that I went to a Mariners game and had a picture taken with the Mariner moose....i then, in turn...sent the pic of me and the moose to him with a message of "Consider this your warning!"...a few weeks later, same situation...I declared that he would some day come walking out of his apartment and all he would here is "Mooooooooooseeee"....cause that is the sound a raging moose makes when it runs you over... yeah...you had to be there... so...moose is my new term....way more fun then saying drunk or fucked up...feel free to use it with friends! Anyway...here are my next two picks...since I am pretty sure Tzar doesn't want either one... Wasn't sure what Queen to go with...but...this one has Fat Bottomed Girls...always a guarantee to get a bar singing along....and Freddie is the man on this disc...especially the chant singing.... and...since I always have to go back to back... Just a really good pop album, and a sometimes forgotten 80s HUGE RECORD...Faith, Father Figure, One More Try...just some really good pop music with a great vocal effort...in fact, I think "Faith" was even a #1 R&B hit. Plus...both of these picks are connected...cause George Michael and Dave Grohl have been the only folks to sing Freddie that I liked.

shit...just got in and way too moosed to make my picks...will have them up in the morning
-
Sure am glad I watched Backlash...since...they are just redoing the whole damn ppv
-
Oh....this shit is now on.

And as far as the whole Springsteen/Born in the USA thing goes...it's a pretty weak album as far as his other work goes...but...not a BAD album. I personally remade it myself but combined it with some other tracks that were left off like "Murder Incorporated", "This Hard Land", and "Frankie"---then took out "Working on the Highway" and "Darlington County" (two songs I hate). I personally feel, and always have felt, "Downbound Train" is by far the best song on the album...followed by "I'm Goin' Down"...
-
Dammit...I forgot I have to pick two at a time...sorry...as long as it's okay with everyone...here is a personal favorite of mine....great pop rock songs...i must have worn thru the tape back in 98 when it came out...not a very popular album...but...they were about five years early....with the right promotion they could have been much bigger... so...if no one is against me still picking... My pick is Athenaeum "Radiance"

Now can we get back to the thread at hand?

The Beatles are a moment in time. It is like a "Greatest Basketball Player" argument... The Beatles are like Jordan. Sure, you can argue it...but...for those that know...there was no close second....they were THE BAND from 1964-1969....period. No band has ever been so universally appealing. End of discussion. Sure, some hate them. But, the number of those that like and respect is much higher...especially in the musical community.... Do I like Springsteen and Pearl Jam better? Yes. I do. But, without the Beatles...neither exists. At least not the same way. And there are countless bands you could say that about....they were like N'Sync meets Elvis meets Dylan meets Nick Cave meets Raffi meets...fuck...everything...hell...one of my favorite "albums" is a mix I made of the best tracks off McCartney...Plastic Ono Band/Imagine...Ringo...and All Things Must Pass...they still had one more left in them.... Have other bands gone different places...of course...but the Beatles opened a door...a door built by others.... In fact...I once read a critique that compared Rock'N Roll to a chair...and the Beatles are the seat...maybe not the legs...but...they gave you something to sit on and improve on... So...it's fine to not like them personally...but...to say they are crap means you don't know a damn thing bout music.

Yeah. Sure. This was supposed to be Off The Wall...and the next big Bobby Brown album was gonna be Thriller. At least that's what everyone thought in 1989-1990. Make no mistake about it...this album is full of gems. My Prerogative. Roni. Every Little Step. The title track. Rock Wit'cha. Just a really good, clean, pop with swagger album. And for a good laugh...watch the video from Ghostbusters II....On Our Own...watch for Trump....then feel really wierd when you see what comes after the Donald.
-
For my next two picks...since I know Tsar doesn't want this... This album always makes me feel. Reminds me of a time when things were simpler and better. I am listening to it right now as I go through some serious shit. It is perfect for my next pick. Just the last two songs on side Two are .....amazing..... And my next pick...punk rock/ska in it's regeneration...making it cool again...and always great to throw on at a party...

Who Are the Legends of the Wrestling Industry?
RHR replied to The Truthiness's topic in General Wrestling
Here's the way I look at it...I announce/help run a verrrrry small wrestling group up in Seattle. A while back, one of our guys did a SPOT ON Dusty Rhodes impersonation during the show, and about 1/5 of the crowd of about 250 got it. The rest had not idea what was going on. They didn't know who Dusty Rhodes was/is. If I got up on stage, and said, "Hey...The Rock is here!" The crowd would get it. So, much like the wrestling fandom has two groups: Smarks and Marks, the legends are divided, too. Only, their is an ELITE that gets love from both. If you are a HARDCORE wrestling fan, despite their flaws, you mark when/if you see Rock, Austin, Hogan, Flair, and Andre. You do the same even if you are a "casual" viewer. Marks will talk about Macho Man, Warrior, the British Bulldogs, etc because they know who those guys are. Mention Dean Malenko to them and they go cross-eyed. Anyway...we all know there is only one true legend. You guessed it... -
Screen door slams Mary's dress waves... like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays Roy Orbison singing for the lonely Hey that's me...and I want you only Don't turn me home again I just can't face myself along again Dont you run back inside darling you know just what i'm here for so you're scared and your thinkin' that maybe we ain't that young anymore well show a little faith there's magic in the night YOU AIN'T A BEAUTY BUT HEY YOU'RE ALLRIGHT and that's allright with me you can hide neath your covers and study your pain make crosses from your lovers throw roses in the rain waste your summer waiting in vain for a savior to rise from these streets he rain spend your summer praying in vain for a savior to rise from these streets well i ain't no hero that's understood only redemption i can offer is beneath this dirty hood with a chance to make it good somehow hey what else can we do now? except roll down the windows and let the wind blow back your hair the night's bustin' open these two lanes will take us anywhere we got one last chance to make it real to trade in some wings for these wheels Climb in back Heaven's waiting on down the tracks Oh-oh come take my hand We're riding out tonight to case the promised land Oh-oh Thunder Road oh Thunder Road Lying out there like a killer in the sun Hey I know it's late we can make it if we run Oh Thunder Road sit tight take hold Thunder Road Well I got this guitar And I learned how to make it talk And my car's out back If you're ready to take that long walk From your front porch to my front seat The door's open but the ride it ain't free And I know you're lonely For words that I ain't spoken But tonight we'll be free All the promises'll be broken There were ghosts in the eyes Of all the boys you sent away They haunt this dusty beach road In the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets They scream your name at night in the street Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet And in the lonely cool before dawn You hear their engines roaring on But when you get to the porch they're gone On the wind so Mary climb in IT'S A TOWN FULL OF LOSERS... Should Austin come back for one last match at Mania 25?
RHR replied to Angle-plex's topic in The WWE Folder
Austin is a Red-State Redneck. Austin drinks a bunch of "Steveweisers" and his drunk ass beats people up. Austin curses and spits and abuses people. Austin is 1998. Old. He is an oldie. He is "classic rock". Don't your realize that beer and red state politics and cursing are wrong. Don't you realize the world needs a revolution? STRAIGHT. EDGE. My endorsement is CM Punk vs. Austin. That would be passing the torch. I would have Punk win, leave Austin battered in the ring, then, right when Punk is at the top of the ramp...he comes back down and helps Austin up. Because new recognizes old. I would love to see it. -
1. Most memorable? I hate to say it, but Hogan. When I was 8 my brother and I used to be Hogan/Piper, and it convince my dad to take me and my bro to closed circut to watch WMI. He was there the most of the next decade up to when I started watching WCW/ECW instead of WWF. Then, he makes his return against the Rock, and my apartment turned from fifteen 25-35 year olds to a bunch of 12 year olds. The next year, he was here in Seattle w/ McMahon, which was a memorable night for reasons other than WrestleMania. So, when I think WrestleMania, I think Hogan...except for my answer to #3. 2. Anyone "made" from WrestleMania....yes...TLC at XVI. The Hardyz, the Dudleys, and Edge/Christian made their mark in this match. Here it is 8 years later, and we came a medical occurance (Matt Hardy), and a dumbass move (Jeff Hardy) from three of the competitors having MAJOR MATCHES at THIS Wretlemania, and Christian/3-D are making their mark known over with TNA. Sure, the Dudleys are stale now, but, all six men became MAJOR players in Wrestling for the next decade and on. 3. Big mania match? Rock/Austin from WM XVII. The biggest match in history that is a GOOD MATCH. This was a HUGE DAY in my personal life (The day I moved from Chicago to Seattle.) and means the world to me. It will always be the reason I make sure to catch WM. Going in I knew it was huge, but, something just lifted it higher. Now, each year, something special happens that I would have missed if I didn't watch the show. 4. How important is the entrance? Eh. It really depends. Taker's is usually cool, but, the last two Cena entrances absolutely sucked. I think the reason Taker's is so effective is because of how long it takes him to hit the ring. By the time he gets there, the crowd is at a fever pitch. 5. Best entrance? Hogan at 18. The crowd made it that big. I remember my buddy Ron looking at me and going, "Holy shit...when did Hogan become cool again?". For one moment, he was.

found a uk stream...this is....different...

Hey...I'm out of town on business and can't get to a TV with USA. Anybody know of a live stream that's available? Thanks ahead of time if you do.

My favorite olympic moment ever: (Of course...I put Jessie Owens in a separate category. Jesse is responsible for the biggest middle finger in history when he showed how fucking dumb Hitler was.) These guys took a moment to make you think. I did my country proud, when will my country do us proud? It was balls. It was awesome. It was peaceful. 2008 is the year that everyone needs to see that the human emotion, the human spirit prevails. I would wish they wouldn't march the teams in one country at a time. Let ALL THE ATHLETES COME IN together. To remind the world, that what seperates us geography, what binds us is us.

Good luck getting my last pick: Is is the shitty 7th grade poetry set to power chords? Is it the fact a guy was pulling an "Eddie Vedder" voice long after Eddie stopped doing it? Was it the pseudo religious overtones? Was it the fact that Scott Stapp appeared on SPIN covered in oil? Either way you want...I am truly in hell if I end up on a desert island if I have only CREED'S HUMAN CLAY. So take that shovel and stick it up your ass, cause this would be way, way worse. (This is a complete joke post. Sorry if I took up your time. If you are a Creed fan, I am sorry. Not for mocking them, but, because you are a Creed fan.

As far as the 1.2 million buys...i am guessing that is total (domestic and international) which is within reach....
-
As I say to my friends, "Hi. I'm me. Have we met?" What I mean is, I like wierd songs to drink to. I can hit most of the notes in "Last Goodbye" so it's very relieving to sing with while drinking. I usually feel better afterwards.

I really wanted to pick my personal favorite album from my personal favorite band, but, alas...it was not meant to be. So then there's this one. What an album...without having to look....once/evenflow/alive/why go/black/jeremy/oceans/porch/garden/deep/release...memorized for the ages.... "iiiiiiiiii admit it...." is how it opens "reeeeeeeleeeeeeassssseeeee meeeeee" is how it ends if you are a 29-36 year old male who had a relationship break up in the 90s....did you not get drunk while screaming out "whyyyyy...why can't it be....can't it be minnnnne?" sure...vitalogy is closer to me....but this album is like my first trip to Wrigley....there have been bigger moments...more vivid memories...but...i will never forget the first time i heard my next pick....PEARL JAM'S TEN.
