I hope the crowd really starts pissing on this ....

The OAO Raw Thread for 08.08.05

Hey...the only part I liked about that was the "subtle" way they are starting to turn Eugene...only a matter of time before he goes Super Smart Heel. That....and where is this bar where I can hang out with video game characters? BTW...this will be my first reply to a Raw thread...while watching Raw....since I joined the SmartMarks...

    Raw is War - April 17, 2000

I remember every Raw back then was fun to watch. Not so much these days, although, Christian is quickly become one of my all-time faves.... Who did Jericho wrestle in those three matches...I cannot remember... also...EDGEHEAD....what are you doing with that avatar man? My cock is now just a penis...

    Songs that could've been big

Black, Corduroy, and BetterMan were never released as "singles", but rather as "album cuts" that radio programmers picked up on... P-R-I-V-A-C-Y...is actually a tape loop, play it backwards and it is ed singing "oh pete townsend saved my life..." and i liked the fact that Vitalogy broke regular "album" molds...it had more of a jammy concert feel to it...

    Songs that could've been big

Although not really "dropping the ball"...since they don't really promote singles with huge airplay, label help, or videos...Pearl Jam has had some really great songs that never lift off just right...a sample of non-singles, and, remember, no videos for any of these... Black Betterman Corduroy Nothingman Off He Goes(import only) Light Years I Am Mine Man of the Hour etc etc etc Sure, they have had some radio "hits"...but...I think due to the non-promotional stance they take...there is confusion over how great of a band they are...

    WM 21 Buyrate

Just a thought towards part of the buyrate...but isn't it true that all HOOTERS no longer show WWE events...I mean...hell...there are at least 10 buys from the Hooters I used to go to alone...that could add a few thousand or so...plus...it is Wrestlemania...and WM should always do about 900k plus if it at least gets advertised....hell...I had ten NON wrestling fans over to watch...it is like the Super Bowl...which...for some...is the only game they watch all year...
  10. So, we can safely assume that Rhyno, Matt Hardy, Molly Holly, et al will be available to TNA come July. Looking at the WWE folder, we can also see trouble a brewin' with Jericho. So, can TNA line up the cards right to make the move to a more mid-level promotion (think WCW pre-NWO era, but w/o Hogan and TV -yet-)? The way I see it, there are some interesting match ups that can be set up for the July PPV: Set up a AMW vs. Hardy feud, that culminates in a Handicapped Match...with Matt running in to make the save. However, have him Twist of Fate Jeff, too...to send the message that he has ARRIVED. Throw Rhyno into the Abyss/Raven crowd, because (if motivated) those three guys could have a killer 3 way. Get Molly involved somehow, because she is a good worker. Would love to see her as the Anti-Tracy. With a little bit of work, Jarett could really start to turn TNA into something here. And Jericho would be the huge key. I really think that if they gave Jericho, AJ, Daniels, Killings, the Hardys, et al the ball and kept the older "Top Guys" ( DDP, Raven, Waltman, Gunn, etc.) happy...the company could really get solid. By September, October or thereabouts, get Heyman involved...and some of his "loyal guys" may follow. So, what do you think? Can TNA hold on long enough to be rescued by these folks? If anything, I'd love a Jericho/Styles ladder match. (drooooling.....) Of course, they could always bring in Bob Saget and John Stamos...and HAVE FULL HOUSE INVADE!!!!!!!!!

The decline of former Hardcore Champions

I am just going to say, that tonight, or some night soon, during the period where my friends and I do our "tribute" shots (and there has been ALOT latey...RIP Mitch)...it'll be my honor and privilege to do a shot for Saturn...and nice to know that I'm tipping one back for someone still ALIVE. To quote the streets, "Big upps Saturn!"

    Jarrett meeting with Viacom

Major star? Hmmm...what major star has been at odds with the WWE recently...knows that the regime is now under HHH and Nipple H control...can't stand both of them....and is free to do as he wants...and was watching old Memphis and Nashville shows lately (according to interviews....) AND...knows how huge he could be in showing how HE can compete and really shake thing up....who could cement a place in everybody's mind???? Who??? CANNNNNNNNNNNNN YOUUUUUUUUUUUU SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK....ISSSSSSS COOKING? If (and we, as in everybody on this board have no full knowledge yet) Rock does indeed own The Rock...what is to stop this? The man, singlehandedly, could make TNA true competition to WWE programming. He could bring aboard new people, and, the $$$ does not matter to him as much (inside reports say Spy Hunter and Doom may do $100 mil + each, maybe). Just throwing that out there.

    Vince McMahon Interview

I am going to touch this one. Vince is a "genius", maybe not all the time, but, most of the time, the guy has been in the right place, at the right time. The man is solely...period for the naysayers, solely the number one man in any view of wrestling history. He took a "fake" sport, and made it (not by himself, obviously) a billion-dollar game. WWE stock is considered a "stay" by most investors, and, the WWE as a whole, is not going anywhere soon. Shit, the man can sit back, fire everybody, and STILL make money off DVDs released, and, with the future of VOD on the rise, make even more money. Make no mistake, the man is a "business" man. Not every decision is right, but, he is leading a sucessful company, and, the company will still grow. With no Vince...none of us...are here right now. Period.

    Jarrett meeting with Viacom

If Spike was interested in getting TNA...I would move the CSI before Raw up an hour to cover the first hour of RAW (or, get CSI:Miami), then, bring back Ultimate Fighter (a decent little show) for the 2nd hour, then TNA for an hour long slot after RAW finishes on whatever channel they are on. Raw right now outrates CSI by a point or two, normally, so the drop-off wouldn't be huge, then, UFC gets a better slot, and TNA can be the post-RAW wrestling show, and, become cult-ish. Just get the belt of Jarrett. No old guys. Push the young guys. It'd get at least the same ratings as Thunder did.

Simply awesome. I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the thread title. Then this. Sir, they will erect statues of you in future times so all my reville in your awesomenous. I said erect. Heh.
  18. Ok...so...Rock becomes this big Hollywood star (good interview in the new Details...love the gay porn joke...)...and Vince thinks that he can just make more big movie stars himself. Vince needs to realize, this thinking hasn't created a new Rock in WRESTLING. How the hell does he expect to do it in MOVIES?

Hooters no longer airing WWE PPV

This sucks. Hooters PPV's hold a special place in my heart. I remember it being a shining beacon the day I moved to Seattle in April 01, and caught WMXVII in my new hometown...it was quite the day/night. I've seen maybe 15-20 there since, have taken my friends, my girlfriend, etc....lots of memories. The funny thing is....I HATE HOOTERS! THE FOOD SUCKS! THE BEER IS OVERPRICED!!! THE GIRLS ARE REALLY NOT GOOD LOOKING, AND, ARE REALLY SNOBBY AND ANNOYING!!! But, the memoires are good. Oh well... Anybody in Seattle want to show the Rumble? I'll pay....
  20. Actually, I'm for the idea (that will never happen) of having Cena win the Rumble, and keeping the belt on JBL until Mania. Then, we can have them play an Austin/McMahon type thing...JBL's cronies can be The Corporation....it sets up JBL not wanting to take on the young punk, so Cena has to fight Angle and Taker at No Way Out to keep his shot...this is where HBK can come out to take out Angle (hell, have him take out Taker, too)...Cena wins under incredible odds...and you've got a good Smackdown ME for the title at Mania. Vince should pull the trigger on Cena now....to us...he's stale...but...the fans eat him up...plus....it helps the HBK/Angle ,er, angle...

    WWE-sponored ECW pay-per-view questions

Actually....with Steamboat coming to WWE lately, and Foley around, why couldn't Vince just throw some $$$ behind a Ring of Honor PPV...and allow the ECW guys to compete under the umbrella that it is a WWE event. Think of this card: WWE and ACE BANDAGE PRESENT: RESURRECTION The Return of the EXTREME WWE: RVD BUBBA DUDLEY DVON DUDLEY MICK FOLEY TOMMY DREAMER TAZZ JERICHO BENOIT MALENKO EDDIE GUERRERO AL SNOW TAJIRI RHYNO REY MYSTERIO RING OF HONOR/INDY GUYS(NON-WWE): LO KI SAMOA JOE CM PUNK MAFF AND WHITMER CORINO TRENT ACID MIKE AWESOME JUVI SUPER CRAZY AMERICAN DRAGON PAUL LONDON( yeah...I know...but...he could be a surprise ROH favorite) AUSTIN ARIES JOHN WALTERS MIKEY WHIPWRECK etc...some others who are NON-TNA so they could do this... Oh...and Dawn Marie/Francine in a chick thing. Seriously, ROH is NOT a threat to Vince, but, this would be a good way for Vince to scout new talent, make it an awesome show, and well---everybody would be happy. PLUS--at the end...have Tazz and Rhyno come out to the ring and have them give Aries and Joe the old ECW belt...sort of a pass of the torch thing.
  22. Ok...I'll one up this guy. I want a BEST OF HEIDENREIECH, SNITSKY, MORDECHI AND THE BASHAM BROTHERS DVD!!! That's right. I'll pay good money. The catch? You have to watch it with me. Sober. The whole thing. Plus the bonus match from Wrestlemania XIX. That's right... Undertaker/Nathan Jones vs. A-Train/Big Show(?).

    Best WWE DVD

Maybe it's just me because I'm an emotional baby...but...when Benoit's DVD covers the whole Owen thing, I couldn't help but tear up....I mean...he doesn't give the usual "I miss Owen" crap...you can tell he really cared about the man and his family, and that him choking up is something he really felt...
  24. I spent a few years in IL and FL when I was younger and ALOT smaller (5-9, 145) as I got older my chest and arms and neck got bigger, and now my comfortable (ie healthy) weight is about 200. I can't jump like I used to be able to, but, I still remember alot of my bumping and takedown skills. Hell, to impress people I still take chairshots or a quick backbump off the pool table to show how it's done. So, I hold onto the thought of giving it a go again. My brothers (both 6-8,350) and I had a cool gimmick back in the day. I was the PRESIDENT and they were THE SECRET SERVICE. I have a buddy who refs for an indy occasionally who said he'd love to see me be a manager type...so...we'll see.
