Well, I like it alot. Is Beck's latest as good as Odelay! or Mellow Gold? It's hard to say, as I haven't listened to it enough. I've listened to it twice so far, and I liked it just about all the way through. Mr. Hansen always brings the groove, and the first track, also the albums's lead single (though I forget the name at this moment) definitely hoooks you.

This really sucks. Hedberg was one of my three favourite comedians, behind Carlin and Leary. This is my all-time favourite Hedberg quote: An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You would never see an "Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order" sign, just "Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience."

Sheryl Crow ruined that song for me. And I like Sheryl Crow.

That was released in September of 2004.

So using my Pepsi bottle caps and iTunes, I've finally heard some Sigur Ros, and I must say, I was pretty impressed. Anybody got any redcommendations by them?

That's because he's a great songwriter, most likely.

Brunzell's 5 Favourite Zeppelin Tracks: "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" "That's the Way" "The Lemon Song" "Boogie with Stu" "Achille's Last Stand"

Dark Side of the Moon. But most people know I'm not a huge fan of that album. Led Zeppelin IV. Classic rock radio has ruined this album for me. The only tracks I find even listenable these days are "Four Sticks" and "The Battle of Evermore", with the latter being possibly the second-best Zeppelin track ever, behind "Achille's Last Stand."

Well, the cd player at work broke, so before I could go buy a new one, I had to listen to the radion. And I was stuck with the top 40 station, which wasn't bad, as it seemed to be 90s alternarock day yesterday morning with counting Crows, Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms featured. Anyway, I had to suffer through that Jesse McCartney single as well as Ryan cabrera, and I got me thinking that there hasn't been a goog pop love song written in years, with the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris" being the last good one. Every pop love song these days uses the same old similes and metaphors, and I think that the idea of a pop love song has become cliche nowadays. At least Rzeznick used great metaphor and actually was inspired rather than write a song just for radio play. Plus, "Iris" features one of my favourite lines of the last 10 or so years with When everything feels like the movies/You bleed just to know you're alive. Cheesy? Yes, but I still enjoy it.

If they induct Arn and Flair, why not just induct the Horsemen? -

Jim Helliwig is fucking BONKERS. Oops..I mean WARRIOR is fucking BONKERS. -
I enjoy Garbage alot. Shirley Manson plays the role of depressed loner chick very well. Her lyrics, while not the greatest, are just fine for the band. I don't Garbage 2.0, but I have the self-titled and beautifulgarbage. And I think I may be the only person who prefers beautifulgarbage to all their other work.

Good point, IDRM. You're like a sage or something.

Would true irony be that 10 years ago Ice was singing about killing cops and then tomorrow getting beaten to death by a cop?

While listening to London Calling on the way back from my Psych midterm, I realized that there may not be a better album in terms of song placement. While the tones/tempos of each song are different, they all manage to flow perfectly from one to another. and "Hateful" might be the best 4th album track ever. And on Gin Blossoms, I watched Empire Records for the first time in years Friday night, and I got a bit nostalgic hearing them along with Sponge. "Plowed" was my favourite "one-hit wonder" from the decade. Great fucking song. And I too may be picking up New Miserable Experience again. I had it back in the day, but somehow lost it.

Just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day. Anyone got any plans? We're doing an Irish dinner of beef stew and soda bread, then pint after pint of Guinness. Plus, my baby sister is coming in from Chicago. She can't go to the bars yet, so we're just gonna hang out at the house with a few friends and family. Slainte. --Brunzell

The "What Are You Reading Right Now" Thread

I'm about 1/3 of the way through Holy Blood, Holy Grail. It's a fucking incredible book, that as a Catholic, has me aleady questioning everything I've ever been taught in school. -
Bazooka Tooth is fucking great. My favourite track is "We're Famous."

Well, I had a great St. Patric's Day. I picked up my baby sis at the airport, we came home, had Irish Stew and Soda Bread, and told many a family story over Guinness. It was a great day all in all. Slainte.

Oh yeah, I got a kilt too. Won't I look fantastic picking my sister up at the airport?

I won't kill him for it, but my Agent of Oblivion voodoo doll is coming along rather nicely.
