The OAO 'I Love the 90's" thread

Less Ameer and more Rachel Perry= GOOD -
I totally agree. There's some good stuff on the album, and it does feature Neil Fallon's best lyric EVER with Please allow me to adjust my pants/So that I may dance the good-time dance. Clutch is still always good though, with the self-titled being the best album. Brunzell's Favourites: The Cure- The Cure Prince- Musicology Kanye West- The College Dropout

Wow. That's a bold statement. How does it hold up against illadelph halflife?
-
Isn't Black Label Society on OzzFest this year? If Iann removed them, he should be punched.
-
Waddaya think of the new Local H, Maximo? I quite like it, especially "Halcyom Days" and "California Songs."
-
The Black Crowes Edition: 5. "Blackberry" 4. "Good Friday" 3. "Sometimes Salvation" 2. "Thorn In My Pride" 1. "A Conspiracy"

"Hyacinth House" > "LA Woman" Both are great songs, but the sadness of the music and lyrics of "Hyacinth House" are just about untouchable in The Doors' catalogue. The Soft Parade is still my favourite Doors album.
-
Four of 'em this week: Jeff Buckley- Live at Sin-e The Cure-The Cure The Velvet Underground and Nico Jay-Z- Reasonable Doubt

Brunzell's Favourite Huey Lewis Songs: "The Power of Love" "I Want a New Drug" "Jacob's Ladder" "If This is It"

That is quite the bold statement. I'm all about the "Tumbling Dice." "Hangfire" is another one of my faves.

Some Girls is a fucking great album from beginning to end. I used to despise "Far Away Eyes" when I was younger. Now, it's become one of my favourite tracks on the album, up there with "Before They Make Me Run" and the title track. "Beast of Burden", while a good tune, has become a bit tired with me due to its overplayedness on classic rock radio.

Oh, albums eh? Well, as previously mentioned, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street are the cream of the crop as far as Stones albums go. Let it Bleed, Goat's Head Soup and Tattoo You aren't bad either. I also quite like Thei Santanic Majesties Request, and I think I'm the only guy who likes that album.

They played for about 90 minutes when I saw them. They closed out the Celtic Rock Stage at the Dublin Irish Festival last year. They totally jammed out "Black Friday Rule" for almost 10 minutes, and "Salty Dog" was almost 6 minutes, just about 3x it's normal length. The problem with Flogging as that they play alot of overseas shows and not all that much in the US, save for a few big tours and festivals. Their dates are very spread out when the do play the States.

Was I the only one that though: "Oh God no. Tell me they're NOT going to do an abortion angle." when Stac asked Lita what she was gonna do about the baby?
-
Have you heard Perkins' band Banyon at all? Quality stuff there.
-
Did your ears hurt after Flogging Molly? I saw them last year and they were easily one of the loudest bands I've ever seen.
-
Forty Licks is good, but I'm still partial to the Hot Rocks collections as far as singles go.

My uncle used to play with Ron Parisi and Wld Cherry back in the 70s before they got famous. He was also asked to join Molly Hatchet but declined, on reasons that they sucked.

That's a rather bold statement.

I like III because of the diversity on that album. You go from the almost metal-like "Immigrant Song" to "Friends" to the all-out rocking hard of "Out on the Tiles." Throw in your ballad ("Tangerine"), your blues number ("Since I've Been Loving You"), your pop-rock jam ("Celebration Day"), and you've got quite the album. Of course, it's not over yet, as there's still "Gallow's Pole", the rockinest acoustic track Zepppelin ever did, "That's the Way" and "Hats Off to Roy Harper." That, my friend, is a GREAT album. And yes, the album cover is ownage at its best.

I think I'm actually starting to hate Led Zeppelin IV. All I ever hear from people who claim to "love" Zeppelin is "Stairway this, Stairway that. Stairway is the greatest thing EVER." Fuck that, not it's not. Give some love to "Four Sticks" or "The Battle of Evermore." And if you're a REAL Zeppelin fan, give some love to "Boogie with Stu" and "Out on the Tiles." "Achille's Last Stand" > "Stairway to Heaven" Led Zeppelin III > Led Zeppelin IV There. I feel better.

The one album you own that most others don't.

With the notable exception of "Cymbaline", Oscured by Clouds is FAR better than the other soundtrack The Floyd did (I'm not counting Zabriskie Point). Obscured by Clouds is just a straight up, lmost rock n' roll album. here's nothing too trippy or psychadelic, there's no ego-driven nonsense or no strange sound experimentation. It's just a good album. -
Well yeah, nobody expected another Nothing's Shocking, but there's nothing wrong with Strays. Oh well. Another great band bites the dust. Again.

I like Quadrophenia[/]i, but prefer Tommy. Quadrophenia is much darker overall, which I like. PLus, that album has the distinction of having the single greatest bassline in the history of basslines on "The Real Me." Entwistle's performance on that song is utterly ridiculous, cementing himself as the king of bass.[/color]

I have no choice but o hit up either Circuit City or Sam Goody for music, as there are no record stores near my home. The only time I ever go to Goody is when I'm looking for jazz. Circuit City's selection sucks balls, but they're cheap and at least have the mainstream artists. Occasionally I hit up The Outdoor Store nex door to the costume shop wich my aunt and uncle own. They've got some decent cd's over there, but you have to maneuver your way past the deer-hunting camo and gunracks to find the tunes.
