There really isn't a set number of fingers, but to really be a great player, you'll need to incorporate all of your fingers. There are lot of intricate patterns, strummings and finger-pickings in that style.
-
How many fingers do you have to be able to stroke the guitar with? Well, you'll need ALL FIVE OF THEM. And keep your fingers calloused, I've been told that once your fingers go soft, it's harder to bend and finger-pick. I forgot to ask, what kind of guitar did you buy? Also, what kind of guitar do you want to trade up for? If you have say, a Martin, Taylor or Guild, KEEP IT. They're the best aoustics you can buy. If not, try and trade up for one. You have have some cale, though.

You DEFINITELY need some KRS-One and/or Boogie Down Productions. I'd go with "My Philosophy." Also, some Sly & the Family Stone wouldn't hurt. Perhaps "Underdog" or "Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey." And of course, "Candy Girl" by NEW EDITION~!

Fuck. How long has he been playing Flamenco? He's only picked it up in the last year or so. He was engulfed in the rok scene for a LONG time and has recently branched out into other genres.
-
Yeah, it's out and it's pretty fucking good. Also, you must have been sleeping under a large rock-like structure of some sort.

It's a shame that Drowning Pool and Fear Factory are selling more albums and getting more attention payed to them than Black Label Society.

Yes. Theory will teach you patterns in music. It will also teach you all of the major and minor relative scales as well as all of the intervals between chords/notes. It is a VERY useful thing to learn theory. It will help you as a player, and if you choose, it will help you as a composer. I speak from experience. When I took piano lessons, I did 45 minutes of theory and 45 minutes of playing/ The theory aspect helped me to better understand the relationships between the notes and chords, why certain notes were used, etc. Theory basically made me a better player. When I decided to start writing my own material, the things I learned from my teacher helped me tremendously. The Mexican/Spanish style is most commonly called Flamenco. There are varous styles of Flamenco, and it can be played on an acoustic. I believe that there are guitars marketed for Flamenco as well. You can also play Flamenco rather easily (well, the style is *NOT* an easy one) on a classical guitar. My uncle does it all the time, or at least tries to. He's been playing for over 40 years and is struggling with it, and he's damn-near virtuoso level when it comes to handling the axe.

Two so far this week: Musicology- Prince Hangover Music vol. VI- Black Label Society
-
So Musicology was released yesterday, and being the broke college student that I am have not had the chance to pick it up. If anyone bought it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Brunzell

^^ So very true. A majority of the people I know like OutKast due to the HUGE success of "Miss Jackson" and Stankonia. Most of them had never heard of Aquemini or ATLiens, let alone Southernplayalisticcadillacmusik.

I enjoy the hell out of both albums, but I have to go with The Love Below. Speakerboxx is the more traditional Hip-Hop/OutKast album, but something about The Love Below screams of greatness. From the cool jazz "Love Hater" to the Prince-esque "Roses" to the early 60s pop/soul feel of "Hey Ya!" to the early 80s hip-hop beats of "Behold a Lady" that albums is just ALL OVER THE PLACE, and I love it. Speakerboxx, while not a bad album at all, and like Cool Jew said, there's nothing wrong with sounding like OutKast just doesn't hold up as well for me. It's not a bad album, I just like Dre's more.

Shit, the Home Field advantage mode sound fucking incredible. Though it could hurt me. I always have a dynasty with Ohio State, and I use hot routes and audibles like it's my fucking JOB, so playing up at the Big House could be burdensome to say the least. Either way, I'm still picking it up and will play it non-stop until Madden comes out, then I'll go back-and-forth between the two like I always do.

I don't know, YNA, I can watch the Wayne Brady sketch over and over again without it getting old. "Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?" GOLD~!
-
Well, since I didn't mention him, I did forget. Let's also not forget this was also during the time of "Get a Life..." My all-time favourite line from "Get A Life" goes a little something like this: "Signal me by standing on your head singing "Mr. Bojangles." "I Can't, that's my signal for the mailman."

Anyone Pick Up the New Prince Album?
B. Brian Brunzell replied to B. Brian Brunzell's topic in Music
"Cinnamon Girl" isn't Prince covering Neil Young, is it? -
They have similar commercials here in Ohio and West BAH GAWD~! Virginia. Basically it's a scare tactic, basically saying "Buckle up or else, fuckers."

Poll: Best version of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"?
B. Brian Brunzell replied to justsoyouknow's topic in Music
While I love his "UnPlugged" version, I still love Dylan's original version best. Every time I hear it, I'm moved. The way he sings Mama take this badge off of me/I can't use it anymore just hits hard every time. -
I like to listen to Mazzy Star on the way home from a night at the bar, or a party of some sort. Their music helps to calm me down and ease the tension of drunk driving. Yeah, I know, driving drunk is bad, but sometimes it just happens.

Well, there's Thadd, a shortened form of my first name. Then there's Tane, which is a play off of my last name. And my grandpap has been calling me Sports since I was probably 4 or 5.

The seatbelt laws are nuts. I don't know if other states have this one, but in Ohio, if a cop even SEES you not wearing a seatbelt while driving down the road, they'll pull you over, rather than ticket you for it after you've been pulled over for another infraction.

Exactly. One simply CANNOT hate on Rick James. EVER. If they were going to put an Eddie Murphy song on the list, it should have been "Whatsupwitu?" or however the fuck it's spelled. "Party All the Time" is a great song, written, arranged and produced by the baddest motherfucka this side of Nile Rogers.

Wow, Huntington sounds like Wheeling and Neffs, Ohio. I think that in Neffs it's mandated that you must have at least 2 4-Wheelers, a beat-up pick-up truck of some sort and several small animals. But you know, a guy from Neffs told my aunt last year that Neffs is progressing really fast-like. They're getting SEWERAGE~! I saw a guy at a local dive a few weeks back with somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-7 teeth, all of which where a darker shade of brown than my hair, which is pretty dark.

Blender is a total joke rag, and andy Pemberton is a complete douche. If it's not what all of the other critics love, it's horrible and should be burned. While I'm no big fan of "We Built This City", it's not the worst song of all-time. "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses is FAR worse than "We Built This City."
