This is my biggest fear as I'm so looking forward to the Giants not only being terrible, which they have been recently, but also being irrelevant next year without Bonds.

Cool, I get those random FCS channels so I'll be able to see the game after all. New BCS Rankings 1. Ohio State 2. Boston College 3. LSU 4. Arizona State 5. Oregon 6. Oklahoma 7. West Virginia 8. This was actually relatively uneventful Saturday and after all the chaos in the previous weeks I get the feeling we may have a boring November. We're down to only 10 BCS conference teams with one loss or less compared to 18 at this time last year so I think law of averages this past week might be a sign of things to come. Even now in the era of a 12 game regular season and conference championships I still don't see us having the first two loss, post-bowls national champion. Believe me though I would love a two loss champion as it would even further kill the argument that the regular season is one big playoff. Almost made it through October without ranking any three loss teams but as the SEC continues to cannibalize itself I have no other choice. 1. Ohio State 2. Arizona State 3. Boston College 4. Kansas 5. LSU 6. West Virginia 7. Oklahoma 8. Oregon 9. Missouri 10. Georgia 11. Connecticut 12. Alabama 13. Virginia Tech 14. South Florida 15. Wake Forest 16. Auburn 17. Florida 18. Michigan 19. First order of business, Cuban Linx can't be beaten. After looking through last year's results I found out his last defeat came in Week 6 of last season which works out to a 17 game winning streak. Ya I probably just jinxed him. Also in non-rankings related news Mecca has become the first the player to clinch a spot in their conference championship game as we now have just three weeks left in the regular season. I'll get more into conference championships and bowl bids next week. Now on to the rankings which has some serious CONTROVERSY~ after you get by the obvious #1. In fact this is such a surprise that I actually have to explain what has happened rather than just let you all figure what happened. Last week AboveAverage484 lost but moved up in the rankings in part because he had a solid week in correct picks in his loss and there were a ton of upsets around him. This week he lost again...and he moved up again in the rakings. Whaaaaaa? Yes it happened. He did lose but he lost by tiebreak and in the process also tied for one of the higher scores of the week. Now in the past he would get a big bump for "strength of schedule" but with it only being 5% of your ranking now it wasn't a big factor. The big reason he moved up is he moved from 5th to tied for 1st in correct picks. Also when you look at the standings now you'll notice we have an undefeated team but then no one loss teams and only three two loss teams with a whole bunch of three loss teams. So what has happened AboveAverage's win/loss ranking has barely dropped in the last couple of weeks while his correct picks rankings has continued to improve. It may seem unfair, and completely bizarre, that someone would lose two straight weeks and move up in the rankings but I'm not going to lose any sleep over someone doing a great job of picking games and being rewarded for it. Also of note defending champ iggymcfly makes a huuuuuuge jump from out of the Top 10 to right into the thick of the Bored Bowl race while King can't buy a vote after his 2 out of 14 performance this week. And finally a Pac-8 team is in the Top 10 and it happens to be me. Ya this shit is fixed. 1. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 2.85 2. N.C. State - AboveAverage484 4.35 3. Nebraska - Mecca 5.4 4. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 5.5 5. Oklahoma - Secret Agent 5.65 6. Syracuse - CanadianChris 5.7 7. LSU - teke184 5.95 8. Stanford - Bored 8.05 9. Texas - UTBroward 8.95 10. Boise State - Vitamin X 9.1 Other Receiving Votes: Kent State (JHawk), Rutgers (the pinjockey), UCLA (phoenixrising), Virginia (Edwin MacPhisto)

ASU is reminding me of USC of a couple years ago, not necessarily as good as them but similar in that their opponents seem to always be able to hang with them for a half but after some adjustments they just dominate you in the second half. And Cal's time as being relevant on the national stage this year is over.
-
Bah, Cal gets a gift touchdown as the refs completely miss the Cal defender grabbing Rudy Carpenter's face mask which helped lead to the fumble and recovery for the td.
-
UCLA is doing what UCLA does best, playing like shit against teams they should beat as they are very close to losing to Washington State, down 20-7 with seven minutes to go. I tell you if they played LSU next week they would have a shot at winning but if they played FIU next week they would go down in flames.
-
Even in a year like this I don't think you can consider any two loss team a legit contender. Florida I would say was the only one with even the slimmest of chances going into this week and their bubble burst today.
-
Someone missed seeing Iowa fans rushing the field after beating Michigan State today. Beating USC is still a big deal and I think part of it also was due to the game still being in doubt in the final minute. It's not like Oregon just blew them off the field. Hopefully ASU takes care of business tonight so we get a Pac-10 Top 5 match-up next week...that no one will see.
-
I don't know all the ins and outs of various conference t.v. deals but I believe FSN has one week out of the year where they have exclusive rights to the Pac-10 and just happened to be this week. As already mentioned ASU/Oregon is televised almost no where next week. There is sooooooo going to be a brawl in the Cocktail Party before it is over. The entire Georgia team stormed the field to celebrate the first touchdown of the game to send a message to Florida. Georgia is kicking from their own 7 due to the celebration.

Hey everyone did you know the Breeder's Cup is on? The announcers in the Michigan State/Iowa game just compared the game to a horse race so I just remembered the Breeder's Cup was on. Thanks guys!

Brook I'm sure will miraculously begin to enjoy his school work right before the Pac-10 season starts. Luckily they have an almost embarrasingly weak non-conference schedule with Texas Tech and Fresno State as their only mildly tough opponents. So even without their best player they very likely will be undefeated and highly overrated by the polls going into conference play.

Texans - 17 points Cleveland Detroit Indianapolis N.Y. Giants Tennessee Philadelphia Pittsburgh Buffalo San Diego Jacksonville New Orleans New England Green Bay

Fokai still hasn't submitted any picks so if he doesn't make picks for tommorrow's games Carnival's will be used as replacements.
-
Unbelievable! Matt Ryan looked terrible all game until the last two drives and made about four or five incredible throws. Huge win for Boston College. They don't look like a team that can run the table but this was their toughest game left with back-to-back road games against Maryland and Clemson being their biggest roadblock now before the ACC title game where it might be a rematch against the Hokies.

The Bay Area was pretty damn spoiled from 1988 to 1990 as the 49ers won back-to-back Super Bowls and came within two points of playing in a third straight Super Bowl while the A's played in three straight World Series including beating the Giants in '89.

10/24: Not Calling Off For Pick'em Games
Bored commented on kkktookmybabyaway's blog entry in KK's Korner
To Bored: What do you think it will take in my division (Pac-8) to make a bowl game? I had written myself off after last weeks loss dropped me to 3-5, but then I noticed I actually won somehow and am 4-4 so I guess I'm still alive for the post season. 6-6 will make you bowl eligible but not guarentee you a bid, 7-5 guarentees you a bowl game. Every conference is guarenteed at least three bids. -

And the funny thing is I bet you end up being the one who finally hands Cuban Linx his first defeat. Hell you made it to a bowl game last year.
