Uh, hi, TSM NFL weekly posters. I've been doing some thinking, and I've got some ideas to improve the thread. I got it right here *pulls out piece of paper* One, the Baltimore Ravens need to be talked about at all times, have their own sub folder, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever someone isn't talking about the Ravens, all other posters should be asking "Where's the Ravens?" Three...

I typically prefer that wild card teams don't advance to the World Series but the longer Eric Byrnes is in the national spotlight, the worse off we all are.

Didn't even know about this play until today, Akron's miracle win over Western Michigan.

With the baseball regular season over and ESPN no longer having postseason rights we now get games Tuesday thru Sunday starting this week. Don't get too excited as those Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday games are typically just completely random non-BCS conference match-ups. Lots of big games this week, even with Florida/LSU and especially Oklahoma/Texas losing some of their cache. Like I mentioned last week Oklahoma/Texas is a regional 3:30/12:30 game this year on ABC and ESPN's new deal with the Big XII and Pac-10 doesn't give them the option to use their games as reverse mirror games on ESPN. So if you don't get Oklahoma/Texas you will be stuck with the other two God awful games. Speaking of which, pity all of us that get suck with Notre Dame/UCLA as the 8:00/5:00 game. The Marshall/Memphis game will still be played tommorrow even though one of Memphis' players was shot and killed last night. Bored's Pointless Top 25 THAT BOWS DOWN TO NO MAN Edition
Bored posted a blog entry in So Very Bored
What We Learned Last Night: The only team capable of beating USC in the Coliseum is Stanford. Hey they got the last two wins there. Everything continues to be completely fucked up this year. We're now down to ten BCS conference undefeated teams and only three of them would anyone have expected to be at this point. Again I always give the benefit of the doubt to those teams so all of them are in my Top 10, even UConn. Also decided not to rank any two loss teams for this week, although that will go out the door next week. Sure you could argue Florida but they lost Auburn, who lost to Mississippi State and all three of those teams have two loses. I can't really justify ranking Mississippi State above Florida but how can you rank Florida above Auburn if they lost them at home? The only one loss teams that I don't have ranked are Texas Tech and Texas A&M. Tech has played just about the weakest schedule of any BCS conference team to this point and lost to a bad Oklahoma State team. I did a double take when I noticed A&M was 5-1 as they've looked like complete shit against any team with a pulse but they pulled out close wins over Fresno State and Oklahoma State to keep their season from turning into a disaster. Those two happen to play each other next week so whoever wins I'll finally rank them. But really none of this means anything, so don't bother reading it. 1. LSU 2. Ohio State 3. California 4. South Florida 5. Boston College 6. Missouri 7. Cincinnati 8. Arizona State 9. Kansas 10. Connecticut 11. South Carolina 12. Oregon 13. Oklahoma 14. West Virginia 15. Kentucky 16. USC 17. Illinois 18. As teke mentioned, USC's computer rankings took a big hit. Here's the current Top 14 per collegebcs.com based on the two human polls and the four computer rankings. Usually we'd have five by now but it doesn't really matter as the official ones come out after this week. 1. LSU 2. Ohio State 3. California 4. Boston College 5. South Florida 6. South Carolina 7. Missouri 8. West Virginia 9. Virginia Tech 10. Arizona State 11. Oklahoma 12. Oregon 13. USC 14. Florida

Harris Poll Same problems as the Coaches. USC #7, Wisconsin above Illinois, Hawaii above Cincinnati, Texas still ranked. Rinse, lather, repeat.

First off, let me say thank God LSU beat Florida as Stanford helping Cal get to #1 would be the equivalent of finding out you've been cured of cancer but then find out you now have AIDS. Now... JIM HARBAUGH SAYS "WASH YOUR HANDS AND BEAT USC MOTHER FUCKER!!!" Thankfully I was not near the board last night or I would have been completely insufferable and in a public place as well or, as Edwin MacPhisto noted, I would have likely been pants free after Mark Bradford's touchdown. Let us not forget this team lost to Arizona State 41-3 last week, which the 41 points was the fewest they've allowed in their three Pac-10 games. Also the next day their starting quarterback, T.C. Ostrander, had a seizure and had to start a guy who had thrown a total of four passes in his college career. I know King says he's not surprised but really now, this was pretty fucking shocking and until that final interception I still thought USC would pull it out. Reading through the posts, it was eight years ago when Stanford went the Rose Bowl and they ended up there almost by default due to the Pac-10 being as strong as the Big East was in 2004. Hell they didn't even finished ranked in Top 25 after the bowls although that was kinda bullshit since they did give a Top 5 Wisconsin team a good game in the Rose Bowl. One other correction UC Davis was in I-AA, barely, when they beat Stanford and the crazy thing about that loss is if Stanford won they would have gone to a bowl game.

Well after plenty of CONTROVERSY~ the last couple of weeks, this time around we have a pretty uneventful reveal of the Top 10 beyond a new #1 for the third straight week but everyone knows who it will be. The only eyebrow raising will be that a one loss team still can't get back into the Top 10 and a couple of 3-3 teams are receiving "votes" while a couple of 4-2 teams are not. I do suppose though there will be some surprise over how close #1 and #2 are right now. 1. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 2.7 2. LSU - teke184 2.8 3. Miami of Ohio - Hawk 34 3.2 4. Oklahoma - Secret Agent 4.6 5. N.C. State - AboveAverage484 5.0 6. Texas - UTBroward 6.6 7. Syracuse - CanadianChris 6.7 8. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 8.65 9. Florida State - King 8.9 10. It's that time of year again where I tell you who were best and worst players by position in MLB for the past season, in case you already forgot what did happen this past season. Starting with position players I will rank the Top 30 players in plate appearances at each position, based on the player's primary position for the season. For the position players I take into account five statiscal categories: OPS+, VORP, Equivalent Average, Runs Created (ballpark adjusted per hardballtimes.com), and Win Shares. The rankings are based purely on what the player did during the 2007 season as past performance and potential future value are not taken into account. This year for each position I'll repost who I had as the best, the most average, and the worst by position from 2004-2006. Catchers 2004 1. Ivan Rodriguez 15. Gregg Zaun 30. Chad Moeller 2005 1. Victor Martinez 15. Mike Matheny 30. Chris Snyder 2006 1. Joe Mauer 15. A.J. Pierzynski 30. Jose Molina 2007 1. Victor Martinez, Indians 2. Jorge Posada, Yankees 3. Russell Martin, Dodgers 4. Joe Mauer, Twins 5. Josh Bard, Padres 6. Brian McCann, Braves 7. Jason Varitek, Red Sox 8. Kenji Johjima, Mariners 9. Chris Snyder, Diamondbacks 10. Bengie Molina, Giants 11.
