Yes I select the games myself instead of going with just the national t.v. games like I started doing the last few weeks of the year in 2004. I felt Oregon/Houston, while not a great match up, will be more competitive that CF/SC. I still will always have a Thursday and Friday game every week since they will be related the tiebreak quesiton regardless if there is a good match up or not. There is actually about 10 games on Thursday this week but none of them are very good.

Ben Sheets is out for the year with a strained lat muscle. Last night the Brewers said he'd be fine. Oops. Rich Harden has the same injury and has been skipped one start. A's maintain he'll be fine and currently have him scheduled for Thursday in Anaheim. Hmmm.

God who fucking cares? ESPN hypes the shit out of every defending champ in every sport. Patriots and Red Sox anyone? They are in the hype game, not the sports reporting game now.

Just a little update, the Week 1 thread will be posted on Sunday. Now the first week of games stretches until Monday so I'll be posting the Week 2 thread the following Sunday before Week 1 is complete to allow the regular amount for people to submit picks. I've already selected the slate of games for Week 2 to make picks for. For Week 1 only for anyone who hasn't made picks by Thursday morning I'll send out reminder PM's as I certainly don't want anyone forfeiting the first week.

To tide everyone over for the next week until the season begins here's a link that was posted on the DVDVR board a few weeks back comparing rappers to college football programs. Some pretty funny stuff. Link Here are just a few I pulled out.

Um ya time to lock him up for good.

A's lose to the Royals again, concluding a horrific 4-8 homestand. Oh boy get those playoff tickets now! If the manage to go .500 over the brutal 26 game stretch it'll be a miracle.
-
Whatever, I'm just being realistic. This team wasn't nearly as good as they've been playing, nor were they nearly as bad as they were at the beginning of the season. This is an 88 win team most likely, which is not bad at all but not a playoff team. Their offense played way over their heads for two months and they've come back down to earth. They have an absolutely brutal stretch coming up as I pointed out. The odds are heavily stacked against them to win the Wild Card as the Yankees and Indians have much more favorable schedules. They did play on the road during their hot stretch but during the Macha Era they have been a very mediocre team on the road. Hey I hope they prove me wrong and the division still isn't out of the question if they do well against the Angels head-to-head.
-
A's have been a vastly superior team at home in the last few years. This current collapse is happening at home. They play 20 out of next 26 on the road (three at home against the Yankees in that stretch) after this weekend. It's over.
-
Going to the 9th in Oakland, still 2-1 Royals. Was what happened in June and July all a dream? I mean this team couldn't have been that good.
-
A's have 1st and 3rd with none out and bases loaded with one out in 6th but they can't score against the mighty Royals bullpen. Three innings from the season being over.
-
Thru four in Oakland: Royals 2, A's 1. Oh ya they should soooooooo forfeit the rest of the season if they lose this. I don't know how the hell this offense was so good for two months.
-
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to break if the A's lose. I think I'll be symbolic and break a chair.

But Millar is baseball's Tom Brady, just ask him.
-
Royals are down 8-0. A's swept by the Orioles at home. Disgraceful. Yup the Royals are ending their streak this weekend. A's will be out of the Wild Card lead by possibly Friday.
-
The way the A's are playing I seriously doubt they'll sweep the Royals.
-
First base ump blows a call for the final out of the 7th in the A's/Orioles game, Orioles then turn in a big inning. A's are in a complete freefall now. I'm praying the Royals win tonight or tomorrow in Seattle as I don't want the A's to be the one to end the streak. The team's offense is gone.
-
The A's are melting down at home. The hot streak is OVER. Angels are going to be two up and the Yankees only a game and a half back. The terrible start is biting them in the ass as they just had so little margin of error even with the incredible run they were on. I really hope this doesn't all come crumbling apart. Sorry I just don't accept this team playing this shitty at home. It just doesn't happen often.
-
Here's how bad the A.L. West was that year in a nutshell: At the time of the strike they had the four worst teams in the entire American League. The last place Tigers and Brewers both were a half game better than the first place Rangers when the season was ended.

Edit: Wrong TWiB thread.

I've been convinced for a while that Jeanie Zelasko has to be involved with a major FOX exec to have her job. She knows nothing about baseball, has no personality, and is not particularly attractive. There is simply no logical reason for her to have that job.
