  1. You will notice...if you join the COLLEGE BOWL PICK 'EM run by me, coming soon to this board!!!
  2. The ACC is tied to the Humanitarian Bowl so they'd have to take it if that is all that is left. Although of course would have the option of turning down the invite and not going to a bowl game all together but I think the ACC might frown on one of their schools rejecting a bowl invite.
  3. Yes what's the point of even having a women's thread?
  4. Bored's Bowl Projections OR Everyone Elses Version 3.0 You know the drill. I jumble together espn.com's four seperate bowl projections, si.com, collegefootballnews.com, and collegebcs.com's projections just to give you an idea of who may or may not be going to each bowl game. No Sportsline this week as they don't have them up yet so fuck 'em. Again since any number of match-ups could end up happening in the Orange and Fiesta Bowl so I just list everyone being picked there. Oh and by winning the horrible Sun Belt conference yet again, North Texas has wrapped up the prestigious New Orleans Bowl bid so they get the bold treatment. 5. Okay I've never actually bothered to watch MNF halftime this year but I wanted to so I could see Ronnie Lott's number retired. So they show Doug Flutie and some other guy playing with Nickleback and the Bare Naked Ladies? WTF WAS THAT???? At least saw a cool moment with Eddie DeBartolo at the end but caught only about 40 seconds of the whole fucking ceremony! FUCK YOU ABC! God I hate network television.
  6. Like I said if there were any standout candidate A-Rod wouldn't have won so it that sense is the exception to the rule. Stick A-Rod in the NL and there is no way he wins it over Pujols or Melon Head because they played on winning teams. I will say this though no DH should EVER win the award so I wouldn't agree with Ortiz winning.
  7. Difference was that Ohio St. team had Maurice Clarrett, that team was undefeated, that team at least had some dominating performances against quality opponents, that team actually had an offense that could score a touchdown, and that team played Michigan at home. Last year's team was disrespected but this year's team just isn't as good as its record and they are not as good as USC.
  8. There's a reason why only five players on losing teams have won and it because losers don't deserve the MVP and A-Rod was on the 2nd worst team ever to have an MVP. No one put a gun to A-Rod's head when he signed with that shitty organization. Fact is there was no strong candidates this year so A-Rod almost won by default. If anyone had come on strong late in the season, like Teajda did last year, A-Rod wouldn't have won. I will say that he was robbed for real in '96 so guess we'll call it even and he can the award this year.
  9. Here is the new BCS Top 25 from collegebcs.com. 1. Oklahoma 1.80 2. Ohio State 7.52 3. USC 7.71 4. LSU 12.21 5. Texas 16.35 6. Georgia 16.73 7. Tennessee 18.15 8. TCU 19.27 9. Michigan 19.73 10. 10. She weighs 153? I haven't seen recent pics of her but damn she sure doesn't look it from what I've seen.
  11. That pisses me off more than the USC/OSU thing. Apparently the NY Times computer has TCU down somewhere in the twenties, behind some teams with THREE losses. It's disgusting. Actually the lowest computer ranking is thrown out and TCU isn't ranked lower than 9th in any of the other computer rankings. Their problem is strength of schedule which is 90th. Although the New York Times did cost USC the #2 spot because they dropped from 3rd to 5th in their rankings. Considering the New York Times is hardly known for sports coverage I think it needs to be dropped from the BCS formula. One note on Ohio State that I hadn't realized is that they've played 8 of their 11 games at home. The BCS doesn't factor winning at home on the road which is probably something that should be changed.
  12. Interesting notes from the voting. Alex Rodriguez had the most 3rd and 4th place votes and had one 9th place vote. Carlos Delgado had the most 2nd place votes. Shannon Stewart and Manny Ramirez both received votes in every place. Somebody actually gave Jason Giambi a first place vote. Derek Jeter was on two ballots and one of them voted him 2nd, the other 10th. AL Voting Points (1st place votes) 1. Alex Rodriguez (6) 242 2. Carlos Delgado (5) 210 3. Jorge Posada (5) 194 4. Shannon Stewart (3) 140 5. David Ortiz (4) 130 6. Manny Ramirez (1) 103 7. Nomar Garciaparra (1) 99 8. Vernon Wells (1) 84 9. Carlos Beltran 77 10. Bret Boone 65 11. Miguel Tejada (1) 49 12. Bill Mueller 45 13. Jason Giambi (1) 36 14. Garret Anderson 35 15t. Keith Foulke 20 15t. Frank Thomas 20 17. Eric Chavez 18 18t. Carlos Lee 16 18t. Magglio Ordonez 16 20. Alfonso Soriano 15 21. Derek Jeter 10 22. Pedro Martinez 7 23. Ichiro Suzuki 6 24t. Esteban Loaiza 4 24t. Jason Varitek 4 24t. Aubrey Huff 4 27. Mariano Rivera 3
  13. Its called having a good agent. Speaking of which what cut does alkeiper get out of A-Rod's MVP bonus? Bleh, he still shouldn't have won.
  14. Should note along with USC/Ohio St. flip, TCU is expected to drop from 6th to 8th in the new BCS rankings.
  15. I've actually made it noted in a couple of posts and that's Stanford. No I didn't go to Stanford, which people probably could figure out, I just grew up following them and stuck with them. Hey if they beat Cal and Notre Dame they'll be going to the historic Silicon Valley Bowl! Besides I've really become a diehard college football fan and can talk about almost any team. Definently partial to Pac-10 football for obvious reasons.
  16. Woo hoo after losing my first 4 of 5, I've won my last 4 of 5. I'm still in the playoff hunt...um are we having playoffs?
  17. I'm going to object to Texas in the Fiesta Bowl. For one, who the hell did they ever beat convincingly? KSU was a close game, Tech was close. Do they get points for blowing away OSU? or Rice? or Tulane? Does the computer give Texas some SOS since they played Oklahoma? even if OU whupped the bullshit out of them? Go A&M! Hey I wouldn't want them there and before they blew out Oklahoma State I wasn't even sure if they should even be ranked. Their fans travel well so they will be taken. Oh and a response to another post another reason to have 16 teams is because of a team like Miami of Ohio which I think probably would beat TCU. You put them in a tournament and they might pull an upset or two and people LOVE the Cindarella story. That's what makes the basketball tournament so great, rooting for the underdog, and of course filling out your brackets.
  18. Well I'd put 16 personally....as I keep saying like every other level of college football. It's the only way you can get all conference champs in and get enough schools from the big conferences to make them happy.
  19. Where have you been? They are ranked #5 in the BCS and barring a bizarre set of circumstances (like A&M beating them) they are a lock for the Fiesta Bowl.
  20. *cough* tournament *cough* Oh well I have confidence that Michigan will beat OHHHio State...just worried about the sledgehammer.
  21. "Recap" by John Petrie of the Michaels/Hart match...sorry only one I could find. Damn those worked concussions after getting your ass kicked by nine guys in Syracuse are a bitch. SHAWN MICHAELS vs. OWEN HART No decision. Referee stopped match. Match ends after Shawn Michaels knocks Owen over the top rope, then collapses in the center of the ring. Referee checks on Michaels, who is lying motionless on the mat. Owen keeps his distance, looking concerned and confers with Jim Cornette. McMahon enters ring. After commercial break, we see Michaels still down in the ring as attendants and medical personnel arrive. McMahon is shown looking very concerned as Lawler stands at ringside. Show goes off the air with Michaels still out on the mat. No commentary of any type is made for the last five minutes of the show. A few shots are taken of fans at ringside nearly in tears. Match itself had been quite good up to the end.
  22. New AP Top 25 1. Oklahoma 2. USC 3. LSU 4. Ohio State 5. Michigan 6. Georgia 7. Texas 8. Washington State 9. Tennessee 10. TCU 11. Florida State 12. Virginia Tech 13t. Florida 13t. Miami 15. 23. I saw this posted in the Week 11 thread but figured it deserved its own topic. The players are Bill Romanowski (SHOCKING!!!), Barrett Robbins, Dana Stubblefield, and Chirs Cooper. Four Raiders might face THG suspension

    Survivor Series

Can we get a real source? There seems to be a rash of people lately posting "news" from these sites that steal their news from others and don't credit them.
  25. Well if Pittsburgh beats Miami and thus giving the Big East to West Virginia then Florida State will be in the Orange Bowl. But if Miami wins it then its going to get ugly. Everyone says if the BCS has to take TCU they'd want to match them up with Texas in the Fiesta Bowl since they are old Southwest Conference rivals. The Rose Bowl isn't going to want either Miami or Florida State but they might be forced to take one, probably FSU because their fans travel better. That would mean it'd be Miami against the SEC champ in the Orange Bowl.
