Definently a better deal for the Yankees as Nelson is better as a middle reliever as his role in Seattle was jumbled around because of Sasaki being injured. Also the Mariners must not think Sasaki will ever be full strength this season to get Benitez. What's interesting most about this though is Nelson was very vocal about the Mariners front office making no big moves at the deadline and now he gets traded. Wonder how that sits with his now former teammates.

Signs won't be the problem...it'll be the first time he goes to the free throw line on the road and someone yells out "rapist".

Druckenmiller was a huge fuck up. I mean even if he hadn't had the off field problems and maybe had been a decent quarterback he was completely wrong for the 49ers system. Oh on the A's "four aces" from 1990, Karsay wasn't one of them. They were Van Poppel, Dressendorfer, Don Peters, and Dave Zancanaro. The last two never made it and Dressendorfer did pitch for the A's a little in '91 making seven starts and I think your right about the arm injury. Van Poppell was the typical over hyped, flame throwing, high school kid but the A's screwed up also by immediately getting him up to the majors. He actually had a couple of decent years as a middle reliever with the Cubs late in his career and got a pretty big deal from the Rangers because of it but completely flamed out last year with them and is now out of baseball I believe. Karsay on the other hand was acquired in the Rickey Henderson trade with the Blue Jays in '93. It was a brilliant move at the time to get Karsay and because Henderson just re-signed with the A's after the season. He would have been great if it weren't for the arm problems and he did become an excellent reliever down the road and even has spent some time as a closer. But now he's missed the entire season this year because of another arm injury.

Velocity card: APA vs. Palumbo & Stamboli Ultimo Dragon vs. Shannon Moore Orlando Jordan vs. Andy Anderson Spanky & Funaki vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team
-
Oh and here are the Velocity spoliers: FBI vs The APA. A lot of tag team moves... and oddly, Farooq was the Mule in this match, as he had to take all of the FBI's offence. Oddly, The APA got one of the largest reactions of the show... and I just thought they sucked. Oh well. There wasn't any tag team moves persay... except for the finish, which resulted in a Double Powerbomb (The lame one) to Stamboli. Shannon Moore VS Ultimo Dragon Shannon got quite the pop... and a lot of Mattitude signs. Ultimo came out, big pop for the Pyro. The match was steady from what I could see... and Shannon actually got in a move or two. It wasn't very long however... and *predicably* Ultimo came out on top with his Spinning DDT. And... for the worse match of the night... Orlando Jordon vs Andy Anderson (He wore Canadian tights) This match... beyond boring... so boring, I didn't see what Orlando won with... but I think it was a Stunner of some sort. At least there were some 'Kobe' chants. Winner: Orlando Who gives a damn Funaki and Spanky vs The World's Greatest Tag Team ...you know... if the WGTT didn't go under Angle... then they wouldn't get a pop at all. This match was decent... with little offense by Funaki and Spanky. The best part of this was actually seeing Spanky's titantron. Funny stuff. Winner: World's Greatest Tag Team via Superkick Roll over.

Fuck I knew it! I'm not a huge Cena but god damn. Sounds exactly like the first match Taker "put over" Cena when he got in a total of one offensive move in 13 minutes. Just retire already you old piece of shit.

Chris Benoit vs. Eddie Guerrero, non-title Zach Gowen vs. Nunzio Undertaker vs. John Cena Jamie Noble vs. Doug Basham Rey Mysterio vs. Charlie Haas Brock Lesnar vs. Vince McMahon Oh there is one additional match on the card but its a slight spoiler to post it but nothing major but just to cover all bases here it is: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Benoit & Tajiri vs. Eddie & Rhyno

missed the dark matches and Velocity. Smackdown starts with the very first match. Non Title Match Eddie Guerrero beat Chris Benoit via DQ interference from Rhyno and Tajiri. Slaughter came down and made the referee make it a tag match since they all interfere in each other's matches every week. Chris Benoit and Tajiri beat Eddie Guerrero and Rhyno via Benoit's crossface submission on Guerrero. Backstage, Josh Mathews interviews Kurt Angle. Angle says he will find Lesnar tonight and resolve their issues face to face. -commercial- Nunzio w/ Palumbo and Stamboli beat Zach Gowen. Matt Hardy gave Gowen the twist of fate after the match. -commercial- Backstage, Undertaker walks in on Vince and Sable. Sable leaves. Undertaker tells Vince he is lucky that he is not in his family otherwise he would beat his ass. Vince tells Undertaker that if he does not like the way things are run here then he can join Stephanie on the shelf. Funaki walks up and alerts Vince that Lesnar has been attacked by someone. Vince goes to the scene but nobody there helping knows what happened. John Cena beat Undertaker with the FU. Very long match which saw Albert interfere early on. -commercial- Jamie Noble w/ Nidia beat Doug Basham w/ Danny Basham and Shaniquia. After the match the Basham Brothers double teamed Noble until Billy Gunn came out to make the save. Backstage, Josh Mathews tells Kurt Angle that Lesnar may have a concussion and wonders if Angle had something to do with it. Angle denies it. -commercial- Charlie Haas w/ Shelton Benjamin beat Rey Mysterio via submission. -commercial- Sable comes out to the ring and says that Stephanie's ego is too bruised to show her face on Smackdown. Sable says the decision of her becoming GM will be up to Vince. Sable wishes Vince good luck in the cage match with Lesnar. Sable leaves. The cage lowers. Lesnar is shown walking the hallway. Angle is shown exiting a room. -commercial- Cage Match Special Referee - Kurt Angle Vince McMahon vs Brock Lesnar Early in the match Angle had the ankle lock on Vince. Lesnar broke it up and gave Angle an F5. Vince and Lesnar stop fighting and focus on Angle. Vince brings the title in the ring and hands it to Lesnar who busts Angle open with it. Lesnar throws Angle head first into the cage. Lesnar and Vince stand over Angle and then hug. Lesnar and Vince walk to the back. Medics apply bandages to Angle's head and check his vitals. Angle is helped to the back. Chimmel thanks everyone for coming. Thats it...

The NBA is like Vince McMahon - a big guy with some talent is generally more highly regarded than an much more talented smaller guy. Actually that's sports in general. Same reason why Ryan Leaf gets to be the #2 pick in the draft and Joe Montana ends up as a 3rd round draft pick. Same reason why a pitcher out of high school who throws a 95 mph fastball but has no control over it and has no other good pitches might get drafted higher than a college pitcher who may only throw 90 but has two or three other pitches and has good command of those pitches.
-
I don't really have much of an opinion on the guy but I get sick and tired of over hyped young athletes who Sportscenter tells me I need to root for. I'll root for who I want dag nabbit!
-
Actually it was the 59th round and just a favor to Tommy Lasorda.
-
Well we'd be here all day with baseball draft goofs. The baseball draft isn't an exact science although that is starting to change a little. For many years its just been how good you look in your uniform can up your draft position. To add to that a bigger goof in the sense with the be Brien Taylor by the Yankees with the #1 pick in '91. Anyone remember all the money that was thrown at him and he never even pitched in the majors.
-
Well Todd Fuller was obviously a bad draft pick but Kobe would have only played for the Lakers, Bulls, or Knicks. Remember he was drafted by the Hornets and forced a trade to the Lakers. Anyways the 15 teams that passed on Jerry Rice in 1985 is a good one.

*Looks at 2002 Angels' starters* Oh yeah, with no good starting pitching, you won't go ANYWHERE in the playoffs. Angels 2002 starter's ERA: 4.00; Red Sox starter's ERA: 4.39. Also we're talking about making it to the playoffs not what they do when they get there. Anyways I go with the Red Sox and also I'd prefer the A's win the West and the Mariners get the Wild Card so the A's can get the Royals or White Sox in the ALDS. In the end it really could go anyway and its a shame that not all four get in since the Central champ is obviously going to be a step below those four.
-
Actually the NBA already has a policy of confiscating all negative signs. A few years ago I went to the first game Latrell Sprewell had against the Warriors in Oakland since he choked P.J. and they confiscated every sign there.

This reminds me of the South Park "Simpsons Did It" episode.
-
People, people...this is not a time to fight...its a time to bond together during this tough time...the possible loss of Kevin Nash's hair. Would somebody please think of the children!!!
-
Hey now 4-0 this week after tonight, with one Smackdown win. Maybe his birthday is this week.
-
Don't you love it when WWE pulls out one of these *wink, wink* to the internet matches/angles and then of course will just piss everyone off by having Nash win and teaching us who's boss. But when it comes down to it I guess if you shaved Nash's head you'd kill him and even Nash doesn't deserve that.
-
Actually I am probably too quick to assume HHH gets out of the match without ever being pinned as he'd probably let HBK or Nash pin him. Then they'll all have three-way gay sex after the show.
-
Actually at first I thought he was gonna announce a lame ass six-man tag match for SummerSlam. Orton won't win so I wouldn't worry about that. The only good thing about all of this is that it at least means we won't have to see Jericho/Nash in singles.
-
I'm already calling how the Elimination Chamber will shake out...early in the match HHH re-injures his groin and gets taken out of the match so he doesn't have to actually lose to drop the title. Likely it comes down to Goldberg and Jericho, with Goldberg winning of course. Then HHH can sit out for a bit and wait for Goldberg to flame out as champ pretty quick and then win back the title. ITS GENIUS I TELLS YA!

I wonder what he gave Gia...although that was an HBO movie so might not have reviewed but she was naked half the time and did a couple of lesbian scenes to boot. Well okay I'd give that a positive review too.
-
Like I said in another thread Ebert is the horniest critic in Hollywood and will give any move with a incredibly hot leading lady a positive review. This especially true of all Angelia Jolie movies. Hell I saw the Ebert & Roeper when they reviewed Tomb Raider 2 and Roeper called him out on it about he was just smitten with Angelia Jolie and Ebert said "what's so wrong with that?" I'm sure Gia is his favorite whack off material.

Kind of funny in retrospect, isn't it? Yes it is...funny because RVD was the only non-WWE Alliance member that was booked strong during the Invasion angle.
