  1. Well no more worrying about figuring out how Oklahoma can hop LSU or USC.
  2. Not knowing anything about the situation but my guess is that any sort of forfeit decision probably wouldn't happen until after the season. Just can't see a team forfeiting a game during the season especially when it was such an insignifcant player. So much for the 49-48 type of game expected, Oregon up 10-3 on Cal at halftime.
  3. Oklahoma is just handing this game to Colorado. Force a punt and then muff it at the Colorado 15.
  4. Illinois might have a shot to win the conference, they beat Penn State 27-20. Let the JoePa retirement talk pick up steam again. Boston College only up 17-14 on UMass in the 3rd.
  5. Texans - 16 points Baltimore Chicago Green Bay Atlanta N.Y. Jets Miami Dallas Seattle Tampa Bay Indianapolis San Diego Pittsburgh Philadelphia New England

  7. Look on the brightside Mets' fans, the Cardinals did the exact same tank job last year before surviving the final weekend.
  8. The first PM did get to me after all but the time stamp on it is 5:02 PM PST so I can't give you a point for tonight's game.
  9. That'd be news to me as I didn't receive any from you.

  12. My Picks Boise State West Virginia Penn State Iowa Air Force Syracuse Clemson Louisville Michigan State Oregon Nevada Alabama Oregon State BYU 73/128
  13. Coverage map for the ESABCPN 3:30/12:30 games.
  14. They were but since they had no shot at the national title they don't count. But hey the regular season is a playoff! Completely unrelated this what LSU is wearing on Saturday in New Orleans.
  15. God dammit. I don't know why in my head I convinced myself everyone lost that year and then realized that was 2003. Alright, but we aren't ending up with four undefeated teams...
  16. It's unlikely USC, LSU, and Oklahoma will all go undefeated. We haven't had three undefeated/untied teams at the end of the regular season since 1993 and that year was just bizarre. A note on Cal/Oregon not being a "reverse mirror" game, turns out even though ESPN as of this year has the rights to some Big XII and Pac-10 games the current deal does not allow them to use ABC regional games from those conferences as reverse mirror games on ESPN. This is going to piss off a lot people next week as Texas/Oklahoma will not be nationally televised believe it or not, which it usually has been in the past. It will be a regional game and only about half the country will be able see it.
  17. The Harris Poll is the human poll with "football people" who vote on it.
  18. Television note for this week is after three straight weeks of Michigan being nationally televised at the 3:30/12:30 slot, ESABCPN has five regional games in that slot with USC/Washington getting national coverage in the primetime slot. This will be the second week of their "reverse mirror" coverage where one of the regional games will be available on ESPN. What is strange is that Cal/Oregon will not be one of the reverse mirror games even though it is the biggest game of the week, not that I want Cal to get more national coverage. The primary reverse mirror game will be Michigan State/Wisconsin while those of you who get that game on ABC will get Clemson/Georgia Tech on ESPN. So looks like if you don't live on the west coast you ain't getting Cal/Oregon. I'll post the coverage map when it is available. With the Harris Poll out this week we're getting closer to the first BCS rankings. So far four of the six computer rankings are public with Anderson-Hester being released next week, then Wolfe being the last hold out until the BCS rankings are released on October 14th. So right now per collegebcs.com here is the BCS Top 14 with the four computer rankings and the two human polls. Note three of the four computer rankings have LSU #1 with only Sagarin ranking USC #1. 1) LSU 2) USC 3) Florida 4) Oklahoma 5) Ohio State 6) West Virginia 7) Texas 8) California 9) Wisconsin 10) Boston College 11) Oregon 12) Clemson 13) Rutgers 14) Kentucky Network/Basic Cable Schedule THURSDAY Southern Miss at Boise State, 7:30/4:30 PM, ESPN FRIDAY #5 West Virginia at #18 South Florida, 8:00/5:00 PM, ESPN2 SATURDAY Notre Dame at Purdue, Noon/9:00 AM, ESPN #2 LSU at Tulane, Noon/9:00 AM, ESPN2 Baylor at Texas A&M, 12:30 PM/9:30 AM, Versus #3 Oklahoma at Colorado, 1:30 PM/10:30 AM, FSN Michigan State at #9 Wisconsin, 3:30/12:30 PM, ABC/ESPN* #13 Clemson at Georgia Tech, 3:30/12:30 PM, ABC/ESPN* #6 California at #11 Oregon, 3:30/12:30 PM, ABC* Kansas State at #7 Texas, 3:30/12:30 PM, ABC* Maryland at #10 Rutgers, 3:3/12:30 PM ABC* Florida State vs. #22 Alabama, 5:00/2:00 PM, CBS UCLA at Oregon State, 6:30/3:30 PM, FSN #1 USC at Washington, 8:00/5:00 PM, ABC Auburn at #4 Florida, 8:00/5:00 PM, ESPN #8 Ohio State at Minnesota, 8:00/5:00 PM, ESPN2 #24 Cincinnati at San Diego State, 10:00/7:00 PM, Versus Digital Cable/Satellite/Gameplan Schedule SATURDAY Temple at Army, Noon/9:00 AM, ESPNU #21 Penn State at Illinois, Noon/9:00 AM, BTN* Indiana at Iowa, Noon/9:00 AM, BTN* Michigan at Northwestern, Noon/9:00 AM, BTN* North Carolina at #17 Virgnia Tech, Noon/9:00 AM, LFS*/GP Akron at Connecticut, Noon/9:00 AM, GP Northern Illinois at Central Michigan, Noon/9:00 AM, GP Mississippi State at #16 South Carolina, 12:30 PM/9:30 AM, LFS*/GP Air Force at Navy, 1:00 PM/10:00 AM, CSTV Florida Atlantic at #14 Kentucky, 1:00 PM/10:00 AM, GP Utah State at Utah, 3:00 PM/Noon, Mtn. 19. For the two of you who liked the TSB entries I know I said I'd get around to finishing this month but doesn't look like that'll happen. I've been doing a ridiculous amount of overtime at work lately and my time on the board is spent working on my pick 'em contest. Also after next week I'll be working on my end of the season 2007 MLB Player Rankings for the blog so the TSB is just going to have to wait. So we're down to 23 undefeated teams in I-A/FBS/Whatever football so obviously my "only rank unbeaten teams" goes out the window. But that being said, I still say give credit to all the unbeatens at this point so I'm including them all in my Top 25. Who cares UConn hasn't played anyone and will end up 6-6, what's the harm in giving them a No Prize this early in the season? 1. LSU 2. USC 3. Oklahoma 4. Florida 5. West Virginia 6. Boston College 7. Ohio State 8. Kentucky 9. California 10. Oregon 11. Texas 12. Wisconsin 13. Clemson 14. Rutgers 15. South Florida 16. Arizona State 17. Cincinnati 18. Missouri 19. Kansas 20. 20. Another three deadline week. Urban Warfare is on the chopping block after not submitting picks last week, although I did seem him lurking yesterday so he hasn't left the board. He needs to submit picks by the first deadline and I'm pre-assigning Cartman's picks as replacements. Smues' picks will be used for Penn State this week. 21. And the moment you've all waited for...the first Harris Poll! You know that poll that a bunch of random "football people" vote on that has a huge hand in deciding who plays for the BCS Championship. No, don't remember? Here it is anyways. Coaches and AP poll also ranked Georgia ahead of South Carolina. Aww, short memories. And yes there are people in this world who still think Louisville should be ranked. 1. USC (91) 2. LSU (19) 3. Oklahoma (1) 4. Florida (3) 5. West Virginia 6. California 7. Ohio State 8. Texas 9. Wisconsin 10. Oregon 11. Boston College 12. Rutgers 13. Clemson 14. Kentucky 15. Georgia 16. Virginia 17. South Carolina 18. Hawaii 19. Penn State 20. South Florida 21. Missouri 22. Alabama 23. Arizona State 24. Nebraska 25. Michigan State Other Receiving Votes: Purdue 268, Cincinnati 180, Miami 114, UCLA 114, Kansas 72, Michigan 43, Texas A&M 38, Arkansas 26, Louisville 26, Connecticut 24, Virginia 17, Florida State 12, Georgia Tech 11, Tennessee 10, UCF 6, Illinois 4, BYU 1, Texas Tech 1, Washington 1
  22. Indians beat the A's and become the first team to clinch their division. A's now officialy have their first losing season since 1998. I now declare myself on the Indians' bandwagon as them winning the A.L. is the only acceptable result in that league.
  23. Okay I'm an idiot. I should point out then though at the moment only two teams in the Top 10 have a Top 10 "Strength of Schedule" and two of the Top 5 have a Bottom 10 "SOS" so it's effects are very minimal this year. But still, win, pick a lot of games right, you'll be fine. Not to pick on Ortonsault but he's twice now gone the route of only picking one differing game from his opponent and both times he lost so trying to get a one point win is not necessarily a very good strategy. The odds of someone winning by 12-3 or such are very, very slim. Four point spreads are typically the biggest you'll see week to week. In the end just like real life college football, it ain't always fair.
  24. Yes the only result that it couldn't be was an incomplete pass but Davis had both feet down just before he was hit so it had to be considered a completed pass. Really they screwed up every possible outcome of the call. Not that the 49ers would have scored a touchdown anyways with their offense.
  25. 49ers get jobbed on a review they actually won strangely enough. On a third and long Vernon Davis catches a pass near the Steelers 10 but loses the football and the Steelers recover. On the replay the ground clearly causes the fumble and is reversed but the refs call an imcomplete pass even though he had possession the whole time before he hit the ground and both feet hit the ground before he was hit. Instead of a first down at the 10, 49ers have to settle for a field goal. Bizarre.
