  1. ...so Cena was mad at Kidman for cheating, and that makes Cena the heel. Gotta love WWE logic.

A further backstory to this is that Cena was already teasing a heel turn. Kidman & Cena were teamed up in the WWE Tag Title Tournament (that Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle won), and Kidman got pinned in a match agsinst Reverend D-Von & Ron Simmons I do believe. And Cena got pissed at Kidman and was teasing a heel turn.

  3. Meltzer updated AGAIN.

    [email protected]

Smackdown hasn't been canceled. Both UPN and WWE sources have said any decisions have been made that it won't be renewed when the current contract expires are false. This "story" was one reporter a week ago misinterpreting something. The story, which would have been heavily reported within the TV industry if true and well known immediately within wrestling circles, was from from several days ago, passed along on the net over the past two days, nearly a week after it was originally published. It was then repeated without being checked.

  4. Meltzer just updated his story and he flat out says all of it is bullshit.

Smackdown hasn't been canceled. Reports that any decisions have been made that it won't be renewed when the current contract expires are false.

Looks like Mr. Dave Meltzer just turned Scherer & the crew at PWInsider into PWNEDInsider.

I bet in a few minutes, they go the 1W route and add a "?" to the end of the headline.

  5. Another positive from this is that if Smackdown goes to a basic cable network, they don't have to worry about stupid crap.

You know how idiotic it is for it to be 2005 and the word "ass" still has to be censored?

Also, I bet John Cena is salivating at the prospect of not having to cleanse his raps to a certain degree.

And to burst everyone's bubble about Smackdown being UPN's highest-rated show, it's not. America's Next Top Model creams it in ratings whenever it's running fresh episodes.

In response to the Bay Area article, it shows you how prepared Mrs. Susan Young was. She still called the company the "World Wrestling Federation."

Also, how awesome is it that Smackdown got cancelled during JBL's reign? That can't look good on a resume.

  6. Exactly. Same here. And plus, the UPN channel here is owned by a bunch of religious people, so all during Smackdown they flood the commercial breaks with messages about how they don't condone what is being aired at the moment.

And yeah, the video quality is crap.

Sometimes I only watch Velocity just to see what Smackdown would look like with good quality picture.

  7. They're doing Taboo Tuesday again?

Seconding this thought. Did they not realize that having a PPV on a work day when the buddies you split the bill with (assuming you have them, and many do) are busy and unavailable is a GOOD IDEA?

I guess 180,000 buys was considered a success.

Unless that is the case, I don't know what the hell they're thinking.

  8. In the past two weeks, the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD has moved a total of 7,324 copies, settling in at 94,758 copies sold.

As of this week, the ECW DVD has now outsold the Ultimate Ric Flair Collection, moving up the ranks to the second best WWE released DVD of all time, in a span of just nine weeks.

The Flair DVD set has sold a total of 93,071 copies. The best selling WWE DVD to date remains Wrestlemania XX, which has moved 109,266 copies.

    ==================================

14,508 more units sold, and the Rise and Fall of ECW will be the #1 selling DVD in WWE history.

Absolutely amazing. I never would have thought.

  9. TNA'S "LOCKDOWN" ON APRIL 24, LIVE ON PPV!

  10. Vince wanted to buy the movie and market it as his own or something. When the director, Barry Blaustein, wouldn't budge, Vince requested USA Network to show no TV spots for the movie.

And in an odd twist of fate, WCW actually ended up promoting the movie on their telecasts because Terry Funk, someone they were pushing at the time, was in it after WCW refused to be a part of the movie.
