  1. Jesus, does Hogan ever pronounce Orndorff's name correctly?
  2. Tiger Ali Singh is returning to wrestling in Japan for HUSTLE. He doesn't really say anything negative about WWE, despite filing a $7 million lawsuit against them in 2002. http://www.miltoncanadianchampion.com/news/article/220382 Former WCW and WWE personality, Torrie Wilson, confirmed in a shoot interview that she was indeed fired by WWE in November 2005, but she was re-signed two days later.
  3. This is how it went. Randy Savage accepted his forced retirement. He was going to enjoy a settled down life as a married man and start a new career as a WWF color commentator (kayfabe). But of course, Jake Roberts and The Undertaker crashed the wedding reception, with Sid Justice making the save to run Roberts and Taker off. Obviously, since Savage was retired, he could not wrestle a sanctioned match against Roberts. He started a campaign to be reinstated by Jack Tunney so he could get to Jake. If you notice in the angle where he got bit by the cobra, the back of Savage's shirt he's wearing says "REINSTATE MACHO MAN!" Since Sid was feuding with Roberts and Taker, they announced an elimination match at Survivor Series with Roberts and Sid as captains. It would be Roberts, I.R.S., and The Natural Disasters vs. Sid, The Big Bossman, and The Legion of Doom. At some point between the announcement and the PPV, Sid suffered a torn bicep and couldn't work the PPV. They wrote Sid out of the match on TV by having him look like he was about to do a squash match against some random masked ninja jobber named "El Diablo" on WWF Superstars. Before the match, Paul Bearer came out with a briefcase full of money to get Diablo to leave the ringside area. Diablo took the money and Undertaker came out to fight Sid. Diablo ran back out to the ring and joined Taker in the attack on Sid. Diablo took the mask off to reveal himself as Roberts. Roberts and Taker pummeled Sid until Jim Duggan randomly made the save. Tunney announced that Sid could not compete at the PPV and would look for a replacement. Savage jumped at the chance to be reinstated to take Sid's place in the match at Survivor Series so he got get to Roberts. For about two weeks before the PPV, they kept planting the seed by asking, "Will Jack Tunney reinstate Randy Savage at Survivor Series and name him Sid's replacement?" They never once said he definitely would be reinstated nor be in the match, but they tried their best to make you believe they would. They even did some phone-in voting thing where people could call two different numbers to vote for or against Savage's reinstatement. They claimed 97% of the calls were supporting his reinstatement. Of course, the weekend before the Wednesday PPV, they did the angle with Savage being bitten by the cobra. The PPV opened with Tunney explaining that Savage's reinstatement was effective immediately, but could not authorize him to compete at the show because of his injury, but he would face Roberts in a singles match at the earliest date possible. He then announced the match for "this Tuesday in Texas" (apparently the difference between being unable to wrestle and being fully healed from a venomous cobra bite is 6 days). Instead of replacing Sid, he removed Roberts from the tag match to make that one a 3-on-3 match. After the first match, Gorilla Monsoon said they were working on "possible TV coverage" of the Tuesday in Texas show. After the second match, Monsoon announced it would be a PPV. After they came back from the 15-minute intermission (remember those?), Gene Okerlund had Tunney to announce that he was booking a Taker/Hogan WWF Title rematch for the show as well. After that announcement, the rest of the show was just two lame duck matches while Monsoon and Bobby Heenan turned the hype machine for Tuesday in Texas up to 11. So yeah, they never expressly said Savage would be on this show, but they were really, REALLY hinting that Tunney would reinstate him so he could replace Sid in the tag match. Instead, it became a swerve for the Tuesday in Texas PPV that nobody bought.
  4. Did you even bother reading the last page of the thread? Hey don't you re-post shit all the time? You'd think after the hundredth time pointed out, you'd kinda shut the fuck up about that. I've only re-posted an item once, and I apologized when I did so. Try again, Bitter Betty.
  5. Marc and Sable got married in 1992 and had dated for a while before that. He adopted Sable's daughter from a previous marriage, Mariah. She is now 20. Marc and Sable separated in 2003 over tensions that came from Sable returning to WWE. Mero immediately filed for divorce after the separation, citing irreconcilable differences. He was furious at her decision to go back into wrestling. The divorce was finalized in 2004. During the separation, Sable became romantically involved with Brock Lesnar.
  6. Rick Martel is the latest installment of WWE.Com's "Where Are They Now?"
  7. I don't have Tuesday in Texas either.
  8. Did you even bother reading the last page of the thread?
  9. I work with Sal every Sunday at a local indy in Georgia. He said he cut his hair because Terry Taylor at TNA asked him to when he did job work for them back in the summer. And I don't know what you mean about "letting himself go a little bit". The guy's in great shape.
  10. I am shocked he never did more voiceover work considering the voice he has.
  11. Absolute blasphemy that no one has mentioned Austin/HHH vs. Jericho/Benoit from Raw in May 2001.
  12. Didn't he have a similar injury in 2004?
  13. Goddamn it. I remembered Tunney on my own but forgot Hennig because he was only out there for about 30 seconds.
  14. And now for my 4,000th post, it's time to play the always fun "Who on This Show Is Dead Now?" game. 12 Gorilla Monsoon (died in 1999, diabetes) Jack Tunney (died in 2004, heart attack) Joey Marella (died in 1994, car accident) Sensational Sherri (died in 2007, drug overdose) Mr. Perfect (died in 2003, drug overdose) Davey Boy Smith (died in 2002, heart attack) Elizabeth (died in 2003, drug overdose) Hercules (died in 2004, heart attack) Kerry Von Erich (died in 1993, suicide) Earthquake (died in 2006, cancer) Hawk (died in 2003, heart attack) Big Bossman (died in 2004, heart attack)
  15. Not really. Gorilla let him have it when Sherri got in the ring. "C'mon, referee, what do we have to do? Draw you a picture?" And I caught another "WWF" slipping by the censors, this time when the Nasty Boys are coming out.
  16. Joanie Laurer recently changed her name to "Chyna" so now her new legal name is "Miss Chyna". I guess if you only change it to one name, you have to put a "Mister" or "Miss/Misses" in front of it. Warrior's name on all legal documents is "Mister Warrior". But I don't recall Steve Austin being harassed by the Six Million Dollar Man people. I thought he just changed it because "Steve Austin" might as well should be his name. I thought he just did it because it'd save a lot of headaches, not having to clarify a real name.
  17. Okay...not sure why that needed to be shared...
  18. I think they also wanted to see how'd people respond to a PPV on Tuesday.
  19. Nice sign at ringside: Isn't Rotunda Stupid? Anyways, watching this show as a kid, I never gathered it. But I realize now that this PPV was a total rip-job as they didn't deliver on the Savage return and instead asked you to order another PPV to see it. Does anyone know how much the Tuesday in Texas PPV cost? Our PPV carrier didn't carry it. I think at the time, WWF PPVs were $19.99 (or $24.95 if you didn't order until the day of the PPV, which I still don't understand). I can't imagine they'd bait-and-switch the people who bought Survivor Series only to hit them with another $20 PPV 6 days later But then again, Tuesday in Texas' buyrate was so brutal (for standards at that time) so who knows.
  20. You can still act like you're king shit without telling anyone and still annoy people.
  21. Heenan: How about the color of Santana's tights? Monsoon: What wrong with that? It's an iridescent green. Heenan: No, it's called iridescent guacamole. Monsoon: OH PLEASE, BE SERIOUS! *Santana misses a flying forearm* Heenan: A beautiful flying taco! Monsoon: IT WAS NOT! Where are you coming up with all this GARBAGE? Heenan: I'm a broadcast-journalist! Monsoon: That's what I was afraid of. Heenan was in rare form this night. You could tell he was pumped for this show.
  22. Uh oh, a "WWF" made it by the censors during the Team Duggan/Team Mustafa tag match.
  23. You might as well shut this show off after Hogan/UT. Anyone want to explain how Sgt. Slaughter turned back face? I don't seem to remember.
  24. It's also hilarious how Dibiase and Bret are in the corner, and the camera is so close you can clearly hear Dibiase say "reverse, charge". Bret then magically reverses and charges.
  25. I find it laughable how obvious it was that the belt Flair had was clearly a Tag Title belt.
