TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

What he said. If the angle is that Shane Douglas is training these two personally, it would make perfect sense that they do a physical makeover as well. If it leads to you getting that much over, Andy, kwitchyerbitchin. The TNA crowd is a bit too smart for them to get over as the 21st century version of the Rock N Roll Express.

I marked out like hell during the last 15 seconds of the program.

That makes it twice as unbelieveable, even more so the idiots who donate money and/or systems to this "cause". You want to hate on the system in question, fine. Do what the rest of us are doing: talk about it, send emails to the company in question, get a petition going, whatever. I'm still trying to figure out the purpose this serves.

.......maybe but that could be the only thing I can think of. I'm so thinking of giving those people a donation so they can smash a PS3......Actually I take that back, shoot the PS3. They've got the money for one. At the moment they're collecting for a 2nd one. I've been impressed that they keep reaching their donation goals. They already smashed an Ipod and an Xbox 360, and they've already got the money via donations for a Wii and PS3. And there is a sign right there that we are the richest and most wasteful country in the world.

    Guitar players

He's mentioend it before in race related topics I think. Didn't surprise me, though I didn't know he was that old. Yeah, I'm 37, and I am sure I have mentioned it before, especially in the "how old are you" thread done some time in the last year or two. I think I'm in the top five in age on this board. Hell, maybe even top three. That's why I can comment on a bunch of wide-ranging topics you whippersnappers bring up. Chances are I've lived it, ya punks. ::shakes his cane for emphasis:: And thanks for clarifying that for me, Paragon. Rant is just being himself. Getting back to the subject of guitars, I bought my new Ibanez back in February, I think. Basically its a strat/les paul hybrid. It plays pretty well, though I have to adjust to not having the fret markers which causes me to fuck up a little more, and the thicker neck. I usually play my black Ibanez more often, and have my Strat tuned down to D#/Eb so I can learn more songs in that tuning, like most of Megadeth's Youthanasia. I think the bridge pickup on my Yamaha is opened up wide, because I get one hell of a sound out of it, despite the fact I've had her for 18 years now. I'm convinced that if I bought a couple of Mesa Boogies I could sound like Hetfield circa the Black Album. Yeah Corey, I think I am going to start buying pedals, starting with the Boss DS-1. I used to have a Boss HM-1 back when I lived in Connecticut, but when my parents moved, it was "lost" along with 90% of the things they did not agree with. Maybe a DS-1 and a couple of others, then of course a pedalboard to tie it all together. Speaking of that, I need to know of a good effect like a Line 6 that can plug directly into the computer to make mp3s out of. I used to go through a mic, but for some reason that will not work. Suggestions?

Excellent. Not quite as good as the Ki Krusher 99 from the top on Amazing Red, but excellent nonetheless.

Major TNA Impact spoiler from PWInsider

Finally things are being set into motion to make TNA a legit alternative to the E.... I think that Cornette could be the one addition that could "legitimize" TNA once and for all. Its obvious that the man has a brilliant wrestling mind, and even if his role is strictly "on-air" (and I doubt that it is), the booking of this upcoming Impact has his style written all over it. I thought that Vince was making a major mistake by letting Cornette go, and if this all comes to pass in the right way, look the hell out. I agree with the general consensus that they handled taking the X Title off of Joe perfectly. Low-Ki is the breath of fresh air that the X Division needed and not only that, he has worked with all of the X Division at one point or another in his career. His work with Daniels and Styles back in ROH were excellent at worst, downright awesome at best. I know I know, I'm a mark for him, and I'm getting slappy about it. This is getting me excited to get back into TNA again. I had strayed away from it because of things like Team Canada, D'Amore and Jarrett hogging the TV time. Their constant interference had turned me off. I'm not naive to think that there isn;t going to be interference by any of them anymore, but maybe, just maybe it won;t be so fucking predictable now. Making Style and Daniels the champs was the right move, but it wasn't enough to make me come back. Now, I cannot wait to see these things come to pass. And absolutely they should put the title on Joe at BFG. My only caveat to it is to have him lose to someone; Jarrett, Steiner or Sting perhaps in a way where Joe has "an off night", and maybe spend a little time with him trying to "regain his momentum". Personally I don;t think Joe really needs the undefeated streak anymore. Cast a little doubt on the outcome of the match, before and during. To have him go into BFG with every ounce of momentum might not make the moment where he does win the title as big as it should be, and definitely not as big as it NEEDS to be.

    Guitar Hero.

That would be a hidden/bonus track at best. There is no way that those who are not completely devoted to mastering the game could tackle Eruption. How in the hell are you going to emulate the tapping sections? No way, says I.

    Street Fighter Alpha Anthology

Yes, very late additions.... Alpha came out in 1995, if I remember right. Oh I remember... hell I still have the Alpha Strategy guide I borrowed from a friend. I just forgot how, exactly.... I just need to re-incorporate it into my playing style again. When I played Ryu back in the day, no one could touch me, on Alpha or Alpha 2.

I had Telfair for awhile, but I traded him because the only thing he had going was speed. Without a mid- or long range game, or at least some good passing ability, he wasn;t very useful, and it was going to take too long to develop him properly. He was a passable backup behind Barbosa, but he was better trade bait. The thing I find funny is that once your players develop to a certain point, other teams start coming for them hard.

    Street Fighter Alpha Anthology

I played Alpha and Alpha 3 last night... its buttery smooth, though I am painfully aware that I am out of practice (I couldn't pull off a single Alpha Counter), even though I went through Alpha with Ryu and never lost. I played survival mode, and that was fun until Bison's cheesiness killed it for me. I like what I have seen so far, more to come later.

    Guitar players

I have five guitars. Red Yamaha SE 250, my first than I bought when I was 19. I only play it occasionally now since Joe Satriani signed it for me, even though it still sounds the best. Cream 86 Squire Strat Aria Pro II Flying V, which I intended on hot rodding, but I doubt it now. Black Ibanez, which you see me playing in my avatar. and my latest baby... And I play out of a Crate GX65 with a Zoom 505 II. Been thinking about getting a Line 6, but I am undecided to go that route or start buying pedals... thoughts, opinions?

Yes, I do. And I commit more fouls game in and out, though I have learned how to draw charges with regularity. I am in the game to have fun, guy. Your fun and mine differ. I actually enjoy the game doing substitutions as I see fit, not when I have to. Ever since Live 95, I have never played with fatigue on. I know it makes it more like an arcade game than a sports sim, but fuck it. If I am not enjoying myself with the game, why play it at all? That's how I felt about NFL 2K5. I was not having fun with it, so its collecting dust on my shelf. "Cena's Writer reamed me for trading Latrell Sprewell and a 2nd round pick for Andre Iguodala (as the Raptors). I had to be realistic and not take advantage of the weak CPU AI (artificial intelligence that is). So I started over again as the Twolves. Then he yelled at me for trading Marko Jaric and Anthony Carter for Jake Vokshul and a 1st round pick." The 1st round pick might be a diamond in the rough, if you can keep enough money for the offseason. I had a decent point guard that I drafted, but I traded him and Varejao for a better rookie PG and a 2nd round pick. There was no way in hell that I was going to keep Kirilenko on the books with a max contract when I saw that LeBron had almost the exact same stats and his contract was 9 mil per year less, so I threw in a 2nd round pick with it and Cleveland took it. LeBron is much more of a slasher, and I am trying to develop his 3 pointer. Once he does that, he will be completely unstoppable. This is my starting 5: PG- My created player SG- Rashad McCants SF- Ricky Davis PF- Kevin Garnett C- Mark Blount. That's not a bad starting 5, though I have always thought KG is better served playing the 3. Hell, after proper development, Tayshaun is a jack of all trades, though he is a great defender first. I'll offer a bit of advice: work heavily on increasing your players' speed. When they can run the floor, the fast break is by far your best weapon, though there are some set plays that just cannot be stopped. By the way, I would have traded Spree, too. Speaking of trades, the game makes some interesting trades. Jason Kidd is now the starting PG for the Magic, with the MVP Steve Nash coming off the bench!!?!? How weird is that? Though I had to laugh when the Lakers traded Kobe to Miami for Shaq, then two game weeks later they tried to trade Kobe for my namesake CAP and a first rounder. I saw that and I cracked up.

My starting five for the Suns are as follows: Brian Caraway (my namesake CAP), SG converted to PG LeBron James, SG Tayshaun Prince, SF Amare Stoudemire/Dwight Howard, PF Kieran Killian (CAP), C Bench as follows: Leandro Barbosa, PG Wesley Person, SG Josh Howard, SF Kyle Korver, SF Matt McCoy (2005 draft pick traded for), PG Josh Childress, SG I play with the fatigue off, so if I wanted to I could play the starters for the entire game, though I do so rarely. Its much more fun to explore matchups.

The OaO 90's Fighting Games Thread

The thing about Bison is that his cheesy fighting style in SF 2 and SF2T was brought back and given a power upgrade, not to mention that level 3 Psycho Crusher is almost as bad as Akuma's was in SSF2T. You could beat him straight up but that Level 3 was the great equalizer. You had one chance to block it and one only, otherwise to quote Hudson from Aliens "Game over, man!"

Avi Arad talks upcoming Marvel movies

certainly the smart thing to do...but I thought I saw somewhere where he wanted nothing to do with a sequel? On those same lines, and I'm certainly not complaining, but wasn't there talks of having someone else play Daredevil for a possible sequel? Honestly, I didn't mind Ben Affleck in that flick. ::stares at Lushus as if he's grown a second head on his shoulder a la Zaphod Beeblebrox::

    New Metallica Song

I would be happy if they went at least that far. It would be too much to ask to back to Justice, much less Puppets or Lightning. If they got back to where it was during the Black Album, I would be ecstatic. I'm almost afraid to listen to that mp3.
  24. I was such a huge Bulldogs mark back in the day, I used to jump out of my seat for the snap suplex, running lariat, diving headbutt and Davey's running powerslam. The Islanders, as I said in another thread, were very underrated. Meng was in his prime and could tear it up. My only problem with the Tonga Kid was that too much was made of him being Snuka's cousin or nephew. He wasn't that great a wrestler, though. Vicious and Delicious was hysterical. Norton was a guilty pleasure for me, too. and anytime I even think about High Voltage, I think of that total squash job by Meng and the Barbarian. The fans absolutely LOVED that match.

    Star Trek Novels

Okay, since it was suggested that Star Trek talk be put into another thread, I made one. I bought the first four books of the SCE series, and its good stuff. Of course the stories are basically novelizations of stories put on I think the Pocket Book website. Its a good example of creating a "new" set of characters (even though a few of them were throwaways from the different Star Trek series), giving them their own personalities and stories to tell. Another developing series is Vanguard, which makes the cast of the original series secondary, though they have their moments of couse, and supportive of the crew of a space station out in the middle of nowhere. The second book comes out next month I think, and I am looking forward to it. I want to get the New Frontier series now, even though back in the day I turned my nose up at it, thinking that it was rather stupid not to write about the main characters from the various series. More fool me, I suppose.
