Every fighting game series needs comic relief.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

Okay, why isn't McCullough in UFC *right now*? That guy has good defense, and the ability to knock guys right the fuck out, as evidenced by that knockout of Olaf. That was just about as sweet a knockout as I have ever seen since I started watching MMA. -
I'd take that as a sign that perhaps UFC is reviving the LW division, but of course, this is the UFC we're talking about. Nice to see Terry Martin is getting another second chance after getting posterized by Irvin's flying knee. Not that the match will be aired or anything, but still. That sucked for Terry, even Irvin knew he was lucky to connect so flush on that flying knee. A shame because Terry was pwning his ass in that first round, too.

Holy shit.... that was giving me the douche chills something fierce last night.... I still shudder any time I think about it. He looked like an effective enough fighter, but wouldn;t that be a disadvantage of some kind? -

UFC Unleashed had the most disturbing thing I have ever seen in my life. A man with half of his breastbone gone. What's the deal with that?? Did he have cancer? Was he born that way?? What??? -
I only hope and pray that happens everywhere he goes.
-
That's not too far of a haul.. If and when it happens, we'll hook it up. Even if TNA did 60% capacity, thats not a bad night. From what I understand, they did close to 70-80%, which is damn good for a promotion still getting its feet off the ground. Combine that with the disaster that SNME was from what I read there, and well.... the ball is in TNA's court right now. Let's just hope they don't fumble it.
-
I would pay money to see that happen, just to watch his knees and ribs get destroyed by a legit kickboxer. Tong Po, anyone?
-
I really regret missing that show, but I was in Chicago at the time. I had no idea you were local, Bryan. Maybe the next time TNA comes around we'll have a beer or something.

Considering how he's been pushed and marketed already, can you imagine how high Forrest's stock will rise if he takes Tito out? Not by a decision, but if he gets stretched or (one can hope) Tito gets knocked out by him??

I saw the 3-way match between Joe/Daniels/AJ from the last PPV yesterday. It was pretty good, not the quality of the last 3-way they had, though. There were some sick spots in that match, especially when Daniels and Joe get dumped on their respective heads. That being said, its time to break that holy trinity up. It seems to me that there was some undercurrent that each of them were starting to get tired of wrestling the other. *goes and looks at the PPV thread*

It would be one thing if he got out just to hype himself. He was hyped while still in grade school from what I remember, much like LeBron was. I wouldn;t call him overrated just yet. He has a hell of a lot to learn, yes. But all things considered, he's doing just fine as a second year player. And alfdogg hit it right on the head as far as being something of a defensive liability, and considering the kind of player Nate McMillan was back in the day, that's not going to sit well with him at all. Given time, Telfair is going to be a good if not great player. Its going to take several summers to develop him.

That series was a wonderful little trip down memory lane, even though I cannot and do not agree with their choice of #1. Thoughts? Opinions?

Try living in Boston. The only analogy I can use is Clemens is the girlfriend that broke Boston's heart by dumping it and dating the cool guy in school, so they had to see him all the time, and it was "I hate her!" even though they really didn't. Now that (s)he's a free agent (single) again, the city's all "maybe (s)he'll come back to us one more time!" even though it's obvious that it's not happening. It's embarassing. Its not embarassing, its hilarious. Besides, Boston has their world championship, so hating on someone that left years and years ago (which the then GM basically booted out of town by the way) is just silliness. And A-Rod finally gets a hit when it matters. Even if is it just the WBC.

This show is the funniest I have seen in years. These guys are about the scrubbiest amateurs, and listening to them talking shit and then being forced to eat it made me laugh constantly.. Oh sure they get theirs here and there (read: rarely), but the rest of the time they just got flat-out dominated. The best was them trying to wrestle Goldberg, by far. Even if he isn't completely in wrestling shape, he is still a fucking mountain of a man... jesus. And he can golf. Who knew???! "Take that, BITCH!" By the way, is he and Mike related?

Although I wouldn;t classify them as strictly samurai movies, I also recommend Ran and Heaven and Earth. Excellent stuff.

That was only part of it... Savage using the ring bell on Steamboat's throat was what caused the "injury".
-
Slow down there, Rip... its going to take at least 10 games for him to be anywhere near game shape... and he is going to be rusty as hell... game situations in practice and the actual game situations are radically different.

John Petrucci - Suspended Animation; Damage Control kicks all kinds of ass. I'm looking forward to Satriani's new album, Super Colossal.

Nothing is more annoying than seeing a game in an arcade that you have been jonesing to play for a long time, and find out that the controller is fucked or a button doesn't work.
-
I had a friend give me that tape that he recorded directly from the PPV back in 90, and none of those matches are on my copy. Good review, Si. GAB 90 is still one of my all-time favorite PPVs.
-
The backward compatibility is a VERY good reason why I might buy a Revolution.
-
The arcade version was awesome. Apparently the Japanese version had an 8 way knob for the machine gun ala Ikari Warriors.

Ultimate Fight Night IV lineup so far

Anything that shows Sam Hoger getting fucked up is all right by me. -
All I can say is ugh. The Pistons let a golden opportunity get away tonight, big time. alfdogg, there is a ton of truth in what you are saying, and if it was just that, it would have been fine. I agree wholeheartedly in that he did a terrible job recruiting in his own state, but considering that he just was not given a fair chance, how in the hell is he going to recruit in Indiana if he already was being viewed negatively from the second he got the job? He could have won the damned national title and he still would have been in the same position he found himself in, Knight's players notwithstanding. I just can't see Isaiah being a positive step forward for the school, considering everything he has done. He has charisma, thats true, but aside from recruiting, what is that going to do? He's already proven that he is an unmitigated disaster as a coach and an executive.
