which is how the game was played way back when... you had stars and superstars in the league, but 95% of the players from the 50s, 60s, and yes even the 70s had good all-around knowledge of the game, even though they have strong points to it (scoring, rebounding, defense, etc.) yes, in a way, the slam dunk started the downfall of the game in general, those who threw down usually got more recognition than those who consistently got 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists every night. One of my favorites unsung heroes of the game during the 70s and 80s was Fat Lever. The man was good for a triple-double almost every night... too bad he was stuck on an average at best Mavs team for most of his career. Scottie Pippen looked to be the next player to be that until he got exposed after the Bulls got broken up. Jason Kidd is pretty much the man for a triple double these days. Anyway, its going to take a major influx of international talent to change things, if they are to change at all. Scoring and dunking in well and good but if you cannot defend or rebound, you are going to be exposed and shipped off to a bottom-feeding team.... especially if all you want is money.

The Road Warrior was indeed the best of the three, though I liked how MM showed how the character transformed. Thunderdome was just god awful.... the concept was all right I guess, but it was just very slow after the Thunderdome.

nah the Maves are ahead of the curve by a great degree.... but euro players are much more fundamentally sound and will pass the ball 9 times out of 10 if they don;t have their shot. This is a trend, folks... this is why its getting more and more difficult for the US National Team to beat the world teams, even when they have a good squad to send over.... in my mind last year's squad was a sick joke, because they did not have enough time to prepare, and the fact that it was a B-list roster to begin with. It just shows you how much the players are blinded by money, since this is for national pride and little else. No matter who they assemble, they will never equal the 92 Dream Team in any manner because that squad put their egos aside and just CRUSHED people. Its a pity, but its only going to get worse as the years go on.

That explanation kicked major ass, Dames. With a minor tweak here and there it could be plugged into Raw as early as next week. I am seriously impressed. I vote that "Dames Explains It All" stays as a monthly article, if not weekly or bi-weekly.

That would work if Randy was a face.

Sagat was someone to be feared in the early days, then SSF2 came around and the playing field was pretty level. I used to take perverse pleasure in hitting a well-timed Tiger Uppercut and watch 35% on their meter go bye-bye, knocking them off the machine.
-
Not when you;re playing a game that doesn;t include counter throws.... Yeah I noticed that they Sagat some priority when I blew through CvS2... I think I was playing Ryu, Chun-Li and Sagat.

Molly is just gorgeous... but even in that shirt to downplay her, you can tell she has large breasts.... no need for implants with her.
-
Nestrovic and Duncan make a pretty potent 4-5 combination... I LIKE all this movement in the off-season... freash face coming in, veterans moving around... this season coming up looking to be a VERY interesting one.
-
And unless you are that kid, why would you care about that?
-
Nah. Only scrubs use Ken or Ryu and jump in with a jab, then throw their opponent when they block it..... or corner pin someone with the Wind Kick or Hundred-Hand Slap and drain their meter.

I used to play SF (II, CE, Turbo, SSF, SSF2T) and I basically took Sagat and played defensively, the only way people could beat me was with cheap ass throw combos. Anytime I had someone pinned in the corner or was using my Tiger Shots to my advantage and they bitched about it, I would let up. but they still had major trouble against the combination of reach and power that Sagat had, never mind when I actually started suing combos against them.. I considered myself a good SF player and pretty close to mastery of Sagat. My roommate used to beat my ass with Blanka regularly and she was VERY good, but she stopped playing against me one day after I Tiger Uppercutted her out of a Beast Roll for the win.

Gorilla was the best of them all, and it saddened me to hear that he had died. To me, with his style he gave the WWF and pro wrestling in general a modicum of believability and dare I say it, respectability with his commentation style. Gorilla and Jesse Ventura remain the best commentating team in the sport, very closesly followed by the team of Gorilla and Heenan. Both made the sport more enjoyable and I learned a great deal about ring psychology from Gorilla's explanations of certain holds and moves. I will always miss that man, and the mark he left only on a wrestling promotion, but on the sport in general.

oh I would be interested in learning to play Bohemian Rhapsody, but transcribed piano parts for the guitar can be a pain.

Brotherhood of the Wolf I just cannot bring myself to buy DVDs for some reason, when I have a little extra cash and I go into the DVD section of Meijer, I just cannot pull the trigger... I just go meh and move on. Its a weird thing.

Mine was made in 1993 from a dice and paper RPG (Marvel Super Heroes), and I was creating a anthro black panther with super powers.... She asked what his name was going to be, and I thought about it a moment and came up with the name Rendclaw To-Vensre (his last name comes from one of my favorite Star Trek novels "Uhura's Song"). When I actually started going online again around 1994-95 (I started way back in 1983-84), I changed my handle/nick from Anaconda to Rendclaw, and I haven't looked back since. Hell, I just pulled the ultimate geek move and had a personalized license plate for my car. ::makes a mental note to find a "Don't laugh, it's paid for" sticker for his car::

I love laying out guys on tables and SSPing them through them.... almost as much as I love using super powerbomb 2 to throw them through annouce tables. Yuke's system relies a little too much on button mashing, and AKI's relies too much on pinpoint precision. There just has to be a happy medium someplace.

Beating Sagat is hard, but not impossible, no matter what SF you play. He starts throwing Tiger Blasts at you have to jump over them towards him, ducking the high ones and jumping towards him on the low ones. if you're not too close he will throw another one. Avoid it and hammer him, but make sure to block the imcoming offense... I loved SFII in the fact that when he went for a Tiger Uppercut (which you could lure him into doing) and you could do double damage and whatever you did to him when he landed. A well-timed dragon punch could take him out, if you were close enough to hit both times with it.

Well, that means they are going to go old school and try to win by outscoring teams 135-131, because on paper that does not look like a good team on the defensive end. Look how far the Mavs got with offense alone. I'm sorry but as much as I like to watch, pure offense is only going to get you so far. The Mavs merely made it farther than most teams have.

The Magic getting Howard makes me happy. They get in him a scorer to take pressure off of T-Mac, a rebounder to help out Gooden, and a decent defender. Slot him at the 4 and move Gooden to the 5 (even though he hates playing it) and you have a decent front court. I am hoping that ONE of the Magic's prospects pan out this season as they have not chosen very well in the draft at all over the past few years.

Enigma's MXMXC (I think thats the name of the album): it turned my ex on, while it would knock me out. The Guitar Trio; John McLaughlin, Paco deLucia and Al DiMeola... played at just the right volume it soothes me right to sleep... Though I think if I have my stereo play random music (having a 51 cd changer in a mini system rocks) and played at the right volume, i will go right to sleep.... or have winamp do the same thing....

Richard Pryor: Wanted, No Cure for Cancer and Live from Hell are my favorites.

I did that too... its no big deal... just have some really really good porn.

The selling is fine... someone selling, say, a body slam, arches his back and puts his hand back there, usually allowing you to get a few extra stomps or an elbow drop in, inflicting more damage.

Once again, save your Zach hate for Vince. None of you would be stupid enough not to take this push that Vince is giving him if you were in his place, even though its utterly ridiculous in itself. Zach is yet another vehicle that the McMahons can salve their huge ass egos on, particularly Vince. Don;t hate the player, hate his boss.
