  1. ESPN.com just gave me a pop-up alert, complete with Bottom Line sound effect, that Barry Bonds homered again. The pop-up is an interesting concept, but if Bonds is the only thing they're using it for, I'm not impressed.
  2. I don't see what one has to do with the other. You don't need to have had the IC title be the highlight of your career to have been a great IC champion.
  3. Living: 1. Bobby Heenan 2. Jesse Ventura 3. Harley Race 4. William Regal 5. Chris Jericho Not so much living: 1. Andre the Giant 2. Owen Hart 3. Brian Pillman 4. Gordon Solie 5. John Tenta
  4. I'll bet he looked gritty doing it, though. Hawk said it was a clever deke. Keeping alive his streak of not having anything intelligent to say.
  5. Ray Emery was in a car accident this morning on his way to the airport: http://www.canada.com/topics/sports/story....a65&k=19170 Fortunately, it was the Hummer he crashed, and not the Lamborghini.
  6. I don't know why they decided to only play three games a week, but it makes for really bad viewing. How am I supposed to care about a series when there's so much down time between games? There's no excuse for not playing every other day at worst.
  7. I'll bet he looked gritty doing it, though.
  8. Probably, given that Franco is the oldest ever to hit a home run by about three years.
  9. I can't believed the Yankees scored 11 runs and Captain McClutcherson went 0/6.
  10. I knew it couldn't last. Overtime should be interesting.
  11. The room is spinning...
  12. STRAKA~! The Sabres don't know what's going on now.
  13. I had thought about him, but I didn't start watching wrestling until 1986, long after he'd lost the title to Santana, so I couldn't really judge.
  14. I don't want to live in a world where Chico Santana is the greatest IC champ ever. My five are Savage, Perfect, Bret Hart, Rock, and Warrior.
  15. I enjoyed it while watching it live. It's never been a match I ever went out of my way to see again, though. I watch Savage-Steamboat and Savage-Warrior on nearly a monthly basis.
  16. Nowitzki: 0/4, 2 points. Let's give the MVP a big hand. If not for Stackhouse, Dallas is down 15-20.
  17. Hey, they finally got Marv Albert in here. Nice.
  18. He's really bad, but Dan Shaughnessy might be worse. He thinks he's bigger than the subjects he covers. By the way, I actually got a chance to recently read some of the stuff that Plaschke wrote about Paul Depodesta when he got hired in LA. What an asshole. There is no way half of that stuff should have made the paper. He had a vendetta against the guy the second he walked in the door. I can't respect Plaschke for suggesting the World Series be played in a neutral "Baseballtown, USA," and r-r-r-reallllly can't respect him for that terrible anti-DePodesta article about "the old scout," who rose up with his failing body to suggest the Dodgers trade for some guy. That was the greatest FJM entry EVER.
  19. Brodeur had a lot of nerve to suggest after the game that Emery proved he doesn't play that great when he faces a lot of shots, after Brodeur pretty much cost New Jersey the game last night with the two softies by Heatley and Fisher.
  20. Awesome game. Awesome crowd -- my ears are still ringing. Heatley and Alfredsson are just ripping John Madden to little pieces. I've said it before, but it bears repeating...WE NEVER USED TO WIN THESE GAMES. Before, we'd give up a goal in the final minute and lose in overtime. Or give up two late goals. Not this year. My wife and I are flirting with the idea of travelling down to New Jersey to see Game 5. I can't imagine we'd be able to make a road trip to either Buffalo or MSG in the conference finals, given those teams' fans usually produce sellouts.
  21. Am I the only one who thinks Brodeur is a cinch to win the Vezina? I think the wins record locked it up for him.
  22. This is the first year.
  23. It's too sad to even be funny at this point.
  24. Staal is NOT winning the Calder.
