  1. The STRUT is back! This is Russo-esque gold, I swear!
  2. Well shit! How did the Gold Rush tourney get the main event slot over an ORTON interview? C'mon, this is huge!
  3. Hey, that Eddie/Rey feud looks kinda neat. I'm almost tempted to watch Smackdown, but I tried last week, and I ended up suffering through the main event of Sharmell screaming. I think I'll stay away for a while.
  4. God, has the tag division ever been this boring? I feel like this match should have been on Heat.
  5. Little Miss Vixen, I love it.
  6. I agree if he comes back, he needs to have a real feud with someone. And even if he's super-protected, and has a five minute Hoganesque match with no bumps, the feud needs to be blown off in a wrestling ring. I'm not saying by any means that he should return on a full-time basis, but id he's going to be on the show, he needs to wrestle at least as much as Foley or Vince.
  7. At least Jericho's going somewhere with his character now. Now he just need something to "re-motivate" him, and maybe he can stop being such a jobber.
  8. I have to say, Raw is perversely entertaining in a way it hasn't been in quite a while. Bischoff interrupting the "ECW" match, Viscera playing the creepy black sexual predator, the Edge/Lita intrigue, I'm really loving all of it. I feel like Russo just got the book again or something, and is trying to remind us that we don't need wrestling for a fun TV show.
  9. Racist inapproprtiate quote of the year goes to Jerry Lawler: "I take back what I said about black being my favorite color."
  10. The Raw team is showing a rare touch for irony tonight, dismissing a Benoit/Tajiri match as "garbage wrestling", and then following it up with a pillow fight.
  11. I've got to say, I like the continuity with Lawler ragging on ECW.
  12. Sure, they have a plan for him. It's called "keep him in the lower midcard, but give him some mic time because he's funny." As for Flair, we all know that he has to be built up again as an active wrestler if he's going to seem like a credible threat when he's in the semi-main event at Summerslam.
  13. Flair is so turning face. You just know he's facing HHH at Summerslam.
  14. That's great, but I think you could drag it out more. A match like that should get two commercial breaks at least.

    NBA Playoffs

I'd actually love to see Seattle in the Western Finals for one simple reason: I know Dallas can beat them. San Antonio, I'm not so sure about, but if the Mavs face the Sonics, they're going to the NBA Finals.
  16. Figured I'd take the initiative and start a new thread. It is overdue.
  17. I could see you forgetting the house shoe reign, but when you say you don't remember him having it "at all", that just doesn't make sense. He held the belt something like 5 or 6 times in 2001-2002, trading the belt with pretty much every upper-midcard heel on the roster.
  18. No, actually the Yankees and Devil Rays were excluded because they have losing records and are therefore not to be considered among teams with a legitimate chance at winning the division. All that lost Yankee mystique is making you New Yorkers a little crazy.

    NBA Playoffs

The fact that Nash took all of Phoenix's shots is not the reason the Mavs won the game. The difference tonight was that Dirk got into his game early and played great basketball, and Howard followed him with a similar performance. The two of them combined scored 54 points on 22-36 shooting. The Mavs defense was no better in Game 4 than it was in Game 1 or Game 3, as they gave up 109 points and let Phoenix shoot 51.2%. However, if you shoot 55.4%, you can get away with playing that kind of defense and still win basketball games. One thing I want to mention is that I really like the decision to get Darrell Armstrong more minutes at PG. Terry's basically just a scorer which the Mavs already have plenty of, while Armstrong helps settle the team down, and gets the other players into the game. If you notice, he also shut down Nash pretty well in the second quarter. It was only when Terry was on him in the second half that Nash went crazy.
  20. You forgot about Javy Lopez. With the season Pudge has been having, I would consider him a strong favorite to get the starting spot in the AL. He's got better numbers than anyone else in the American League, and he's at least as recognizable a name as Mauer or Varitek. And while Soriano certainly could start at 2B and probably will, if Roberts keeps up the season he's been having, and doesn't get the spot, then the all-star voting really is a sham.

    NBA Playoffs

I hate the Pistons. They're leading the push to send basketball back to the dark ages. The Mavs are my team, but anything that keeps Detroit out of the Finals is A-OK with me.
  22. I just wanted to bring up that the Orioles are too legit to quit. They salvaged the split with the ChiSox and now they're going back into the easy portion of the schedule. Fuck the Red Sox and the Blue Jays; the Orioles are winning the East.
  23. Whether you can "imagine it" or not, it's still true. People will tune into Raw more when Batista's "acting" well enough to make the storyline with HHH intriguing, and people will tune out from Smackdown when Booker T's acting like he's got a parking cone up his ass to sell the Angle feud. The wrestling makes for a nice format to the show, but hot feuds are what make money, not good wrestlers.
  24. BTW, while I'm posting in the fantasy thread, I just want to say that Clemens had another great outing today, and actually got the win, 4-1. I know I don't need to bitch about the Astros run support for Clemens today since he did get the victory, but here's an interesting little nugget for you. Not only does Clemens lead the Astros in ERA and strikeouts, he also leads the team in batting average, as his .357 BA is better than anyone else's with a minimum of 10 ABs.
  25. I think the real worry is that he's not accumulating losses. It makes all the people who scan the waiver wire every day feel bad when someone who hasn't touched their team since the draft has a better record than they do.
