The only reason I thought RVD might not sign is that he's always been very vocal that he doesn't need to be the WWE to survive. He has his own shop (RVD's 5 Star Comics) and he can survive on indy shows and Japanese tours for money and he's quoted as saying that he's never got to fear being out of work. Basically, from what I've read, the fans booed him out of the building, with chants of "We Want Matt", "Hogan's Better" and "You Got Fired".
