    Darkness Singer To Replace Mercury

Well, seeing as how the members of Queen have willingly whored themselves out to any old tat over the last five years (5ive and Wyclef Jean both come to mind), at least they've got someone who actually understands and appreciates their music to join them for this. Justin's bound to do a better job than most of the people they could have chosen (Scott Stapp...you'd better have been joking) and, hey, it's for charity. I'm all for it

    Reading/Leeds 2004

Well I'll be moving come summer and given the choice between paying a deposit on a flat or watching tat like 50 Cent, The Libertines, White Stripes and Franz fucking Ferdinand, I see housing as the wise investment. Only Ash, Morrissey and the Darkness appeal and I've already seen all three live before. None of the headliners come close to filling me with excitement like Metallica did last year.
  4. The Jackass The Movie DVD has two commentaries- one is very good (Knoxville, Tremaine and Elyashkevich). The other one, which is the rest of the cast is terrible, just lots of private jokes or laughter. Nothing entertaining or insightful at all.

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

It's only just come out over in the UK and I can safely say I thought it was great. Admittedly, I haven't seen the original, which may explain why it didn't disappoint me, but it entertained me from start to finish (love the bit where Anna's husband is chasing her car, then veers off to maim some innocent bystander), had some great death scenes (the clumsy old man with the chainsaw) and didn't take itself too seriously, which has to be a bonus. Kudos too for not resorting to the typical "angry nu-metal noise" soundtrack (Johnny Cash on the intro credits) and for casting Ving Rhames, who was fantastic as the grumpy badass policeman.
  6. Happy Mondays- Loads (haven't listened to it in years- went through a big "I love indie" phase until I turned 14, then realised I hated most of it) Korn- Untouchables (listened to it twice- feel no need to listen to it again) The Cranberries- From The Faithful Departed (title could well be wrong- I simply don't care about this album enough to remember) Clawfinger- Deaf Dumb Blind (loved "The Truth", hated the rest of it) Sonic Youth- Silver Sessions (I love Sonic Youth, but I didn't realise this album was just a wall of feedback remixed and looped for 30 minutes- bastards)

    A few funny WCW pictures

The best example was when the dubbed voice was ripping into Meng, mocking his stupid afro. La Parka looked terrified before pulling out a small sign saying "I'm sorry", then getting the Tongan Death Grip. Good times

    Recent purchases

In a "buy 2 filmd for £10 offer", I got Mountain Of The Cannibal God (starring Ursula Andress and Mike Hammer-star Stacy Keach in an awesome looking horror film- the trailer itself featured two blood-fueled deaths) and Class Of Nuke'em High, which I've wanted for years, ever since I fell asleep watching the final half hour of it when I was 15.

    Funaki vs Hidaka

I was watching the Michinoku Pro Ten Year Anniversary and noticed that Funaki defeated Ikuto Hidaka using a crossface, a la Chris Benoit. My question is: was there any reason he chose that finisher? Obviously he can't use it in the WWE, due to it being Benoit's (he uses a reverse tornado DDT instead), but was it his finisher before he joined the WWE or is there some historical reason he chose to use it? Any help is muchly appreciated- thanks guys.

    Weird foreign objects...

The Hulk Hands that Shark Boy brought out for New Jack in TNA once And, puerile and crass as it may be, Nate Hatred throwing Rick Feinberg out of a battle royal in CZW using a dildo made me chuckle

    Even More Whoring

Bitchin' I got Tina, the psychic chick from part VII who beat Jason by resurrecting her dad from the depth of Camp Crystal Lake. I'm happy. But he's apparently very nice in real life and won $64,000 on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, so it could be worse (realises that doesn't make you feel better)

    24 hour hardcore title

Ivory giving Crash a massage to try an ease his tension, only to smash him over the head with a jar of candy to try and win the title was gold.

    Funaki vs Hidaka

I enjoyed it as well, although the main event certainly blew it away. I've never seen Funaki in Japan before, but it was nice to see how good he can be, especially some of his mat work. He was very over too, especially doing his "Smackdown #1 announcer" schtick. Thanks for the info on the submission finishes- I'm a relative newcomer to the Japanese style, so I appreciate the help.

    Recent purchases

Just bought Mallrats and the Cape Fear Collection (consisting of the Gregory Peck original and the Robert DeNiro remake) for £7 each, and my copy of Bound finally arrived from Amazon for £4.99. Also managed to get my hands on Turner And Hooch for £6.99, which is awesome, due to it being my favourite film ever.

    Favorite good bad movies

Leprachaun In The Hood Expect No Mercy (Billy Blanks meets the worst virtual reality effects ever) Parasite (Demi Moore's first film) Rabid Grannies (this film is so good in an unbearably bad way) Zombie Nosh (long live the Nosh!)

Nice review. I love The Final Chapter, probably my fourth favourite of the series- hell, any film with Crispin Glover and Corey Feldman is going to have a headstart in greatness, but some of the deaths in this one are awesome (I still laugh at the fat hitchhiker). Sadly you've got one of the worst one coming up next...especially as Tommy is such a contemptable bastard in part V

Somebody make me like punk rock again.

I'd add Amen and Kinesis as bands who manage to mix punk ethics and attitude with great songs. Also I'd agree with 80's Matchbox B-Line Disaster and Ikara Colt as well, both of whom kick ass. And, even though they're an obvious choice, I'll always mention Refused, simply because "The Shape Of Punk To Come" is one of the greatest albums ever.

    AAA vs Japan Cancelled

Besides which, Brookside against one of the AAA guys would be the biggest style clash since the RVD/Regal feud. It's not just Dynamite who is unheard of here- All Star Wrestling is Britain's number three promotion, behind FWA and NWA Hammerlock. Allmark is as unknown over here as Dynamite, and I only know Sloan because he was at the show I went to. Plus the fact that Brookside coming to TNA using the name of one of his co-workers in All Star would be a touch harsh on his colleague. If they HAD to use All Star guys, they should have used Five Star Flash, who can hit an impressive Dragonrana and is a pretty versatile wrestler.

    AAA vs Japan Cancelled

Sadly, Dynamite is a different Robbie...just check his profile picture. Probably for the best because, as much as I love Robbie Brookside, his style is too submission based to work well against the AAA guys. From what I've read, Dynamite is more of a high-flyer than Brookside, so he'll probably do better than the Wildcat would.
