  3. Obviously Hayabusa suffered a career-ending injury when he slipped on a quebrada in 2001 and was paralized. I was just wondering: 1.How bad are his injuries? Obviously he wont be wrestling again, but is he ever going to be able to walk again? 2.I heard a rumour that he was starting a new promotion, but I can't remember anything about it. Can anyone enlighten me as to the accuracy of this rumour? 3.Finally, did he ever mend fences with Jushin Liger after deciding to remain in FMW rather than switch to NJPW? I heard they hadn't spoken since, but when a former close friend is paralized, you let bygones be bygones. Thanks for any help here guys, my Japanese wrestling knowledge is weak, so I bow down to your factual superiority.

My Opinion: Usually, this is designated for good matches that were usually way too short for some reason. What's your excuse? *3/4 (62/64/74) (Thought Legend and the Messiah would make a good team. Pushing Deniro and Punk as a team, mainly to feud with the winners of the tag title match) Shane Douglas is backstage with Michael Shane. Shane Douglas was verbally abusing Chris Hero on behalf of Michael Shane. There's no better way to build up a fighter than to promote him as someone who needs a manager to do their fighting talk. That's almost as bad as having a friend ask a girl out for you. Not that I've ever done that. No, really, I haven't. Just concentrate on your booking, ok! (72) Swinger and Diamond vs Getting Rowdy. My Opinion: This was such a good match, it caused star ratings to magically appear... ****1\4 (76/75/96) (I’ve got AJ signed to a written contract, Low Ki, being committed to Japan, is not. Thus I’m using AJ more to save on appearance fees, necessitating the Styles win, which also keeps AJ in the main event scene) Raven and D'Lo Brown vs Jeff Jarrett and Vampiro. Match Background: Vampiro and Jarrett are currently feuding. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud. Jeff Jarrett is the reigning NWA World champion. (71/80/77) (Damn, not happy that an inside source appears to have told the Dames before this match that Jarrett and Vamp are going to feud. I blame the Sandman…he’s fired) TOTAL CARD- 66% Not a bad start. Still got some new stars to debut next week (Spanky, Trent Acid, Masato Tanaka, Satoshi Kojima) so hopefully I can build from here… BUT THEN…..CRISIS STRIKES!!! Yep, Jeff Jarrett has suffered an eye injury, meaning that the World title needs to be stripped and his feud with Vampiro needs to be ended off camera. This allows me to introduce the TNA World Title Tournament. The first round matches are: Scotty Riggs vs Nick Dinsmore Chris Hero vs Steve Bradley Rene Dupree vs Vampiro Kid Kash vs Spanky Christopher Daniels vs Raven Sonny Siaki vs D’Lo Brown Low Ki vs Masato Tanaka Satoshi Kojima vs AJ Styles 14/1/2004 Spanky vs Slash. Here it comes - The Big Spank. 1....2...3, it's finished. My Opinion: Hmm. Only gets * from me. (62/56/69) (Aw monkeynuts, thought these two would work well together. Obviously not. Scotty Riggs attacks Dinsmore, and they brawl all around ringside, then into the crowd! They eventually disappear backstage, still fighting. My Opinion: Hmm. Only gets * from me. Besides, giving a bye puts more heat on the heel lucky enough to get to the second round) The New Franchise have come to the ring, led by Shane Douglas. He takes the microphone and announces that there is a new member of the group, and introduces Steve Bradley, who comes down the aisle. Michael Shane comes running down the aisle and onto the apron! Hero turns...and is dropped throat-first onto the top rope by Shane! Michael Shane has left Hero in big trouble. Chris Hero is in trouble. Here it comes - Roll The Dice. 1....2...3, it's finished. Michael Shane has a chair. Chris Hero stands up...and gets floored by a shot to the head. Another two shots smack down across his back, leaving him unmoving on the canvas. Shane sets the chair up, then picks up Chris Hero. He gets whipped into the ropes...and then drop toe holded, sending him face first into the chair! Michael Shane has left Hero down and bloodied in the ring after a brutal assault! My Opinion: I'll give it a *3/4 rating. If you think of it like currency, it's a 1.75. You can't even take the subway with that anymore here. Work harder man. Satoshi Kojima rolls up the stunned AJ Styles: 1....2...3! How did the referee not see that? My Opinion: A badly blown spot prevents me from giving out more snowflakes. ***3/4 (83/73/93) (I want to push Kojima as a big heel, so a victory over AJ will give him instant credibility, but by making it a cheap victory, it doesn’t make AJ look stupid either) TOTAL CARD- 71% (Getting better, main feuds at the moment are Shane/Hero, Gathering/Simon and Swinger, Sabin/Acid, Raven/Kojima and Dinsmore/Riggs, all of which will develop as the weeks go by) Hope this isn’t too crappy. Match Background: This will be a triangle bout. Shane and Hero have been feuding recently. Neither has managed to get an in-ring victory in this feud. This match is for the NWA X title. The Match: Spinning back kick from Chris Sabin. Dropkick connects to the BUTT of the jaw and Hero goes down. Shane counters an arm wringer with an elbow to the side of the head. Michael Shane hits a rolling kick on Sabin. Konnan has ruined any chance for me ever enjoying this maneuver again with his shitty execution of it. Shane takes a NICE hurrancarana from Chris Hero. Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Hero takes a flying neckbreaker from Chris Sabin. Hero counters a backdrop attempt with a kick to the face and hit a clothesline! Shane \ Hero hook up Sabin, then hit a double suplex. Power drive elbow by Michael Shane. That sounds like a feature on a 4 x 4, doesn't it. Shane takes a back suplex. Chris Hero misses a big legdrop after stalling too long. Hard back suplex on Sabin. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Trent Acid comes running down the aisle with a chair! Shane whips Chris Sabin into the ropes. Acid jumps onto the apron with the chair! Collision between Acid, Sabin, and the chair! Chris Sabin staggers back into a roll up! 1...2...3! It's over! My Opinion: **1/4 rating for this one. Scott Keith may say that it's 'Perfectly Acceptable Wrestling', but not for me, buddy. Got to work harder to impress me. (67/53/81) (Lets me continue two feuds. Acid cost Sabin the X title and Hero didn’t take the pinfall, giving him more reason to go after Shane) Vampiro vs Rene Dupree. Match Background: Dupree is making his debut at this show. The Match: STIFF~! chop lights up Dupree who covers up to try and stop the agonizing PAIN! Vampiro scoops and slams Rene Dupree. What's the difference between a scoop slam and a body slam anyway? Running knee lift from Vampiro. Flying shoulder tackle by Vampiro sends Dupree CRASHING to the mat. Dupree blocks a kick from Vampiro. Rene Dupree with a spinning neckbreaker on Vampiro. Full nelson slam on Vampiro. Hooks the leg for a two count. Vampiro reverses a Rene Dupree hammerlock. Big piledriver on Dupree. Covers for a quick two count. Vampiro scores with a big spinebuster. Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Vampiro gets taken down out of nowhere! Dupree slams Vampiro. Vampiro reverses a Rene Dupree hammerlock. Flying shoulder tackle by Vampiro sends Dupree CRASHING to the mat. Rene Dupree is in trouble. Here it comes - Nail In The Coffin. 1....2...3, it's finished. My Opinion: Nothing special...nothing special at all. *1/4 (66/64/68) (Well I needed a big name for the tournament, and Dupree isn’t THAT bad) Chris Sabin is backstage. He was building up the feud with Trent Acid. Well, that's just...neat! (68) Spanky vs Kid Kash. Match Background: None. The Match: Spanky uses a basement dropkick to the knee and it looks like it might be TIME TO GO TO SCHOOL~! Flying cross body off the top rope! Covers for a quick two count. Spanky walks into a drop toe hold. Spinning back kick from Kid Kash. Second rope flying axe handle, Spanky goes down. One day, Kash might even consider coming off the top with that. You know...for more impact and stuff. Covers for a quick two count. Spanky walks into a face crusher variation. Has anyone's face ever really been crushed by one though? Pinfall attempt: ONE...TWO...NO! I would have bought that as the finish! Kash uses a basement dropkick to the knee and it looks like it might be TIME TO GO TO SCHOOL~! Spanky fights out of a grapple. Kash takes a NICE hurrancarana from Spanky. Hooks the leg for a two count. Diamond Dust from Spanky and Kash is out! Pin, but Kash is out just before the three count. Spin kick by Spanky to the face sends the opponent FLYING across the ring. Standing leg lariat by Spanky on Kash. Kid Kash reverses a hip toss. Implant DDT by Kid Kash! I will always and forever mark out for that move. Spanky walks into a face crusher variation. Has anyone's face ever really been crushed by one though? Spanky is in trouble. Here it comes - Cha Ching. 1....2...3, it's finished. My Opinion: All it gets is a ***1\2 rating from me. Deal with it. (77/65/90) (Got plenty of time to build up Spanky and a clean win keeps Kash looking strong) D'Lo Brown vs Sonny Siaki. Match Background: None. The Match: D'Lo Brown with a spinning neckbreaker on Siaki. Nice piledriver on Siaki. There's a two count on the pin. Siaki pushes out of a D'Lo Brown hold. Siaki slams D'Lo Brown. Fallaway slam by Sonny Siaki puts down D'Lo Brown. Hooks the leg for a two count. DEATH VALLEY DRIVAH~! by Sonny Siaki just KILLS D'Lo Brown! Cover, ONE...TWO...NO! I honestly thought that match was going to end right then and there. Rude Awakening neckbreaker on D'Lo Brown by Siaki. Remember when that was a legit finish? D'Lo Brown reverses a hip toss. Spinebuster by D'Lo Brown. Covers for a quick two count. DEATH VALLEY DRIVAH~! by D'Lo Brown just KILLS Sonny Siaki! Hooks the leg! ONE...TWO...NO! Sonny Siaki charges into the corner, but EATS BOOT and staggers backward. D'Lo scoops and slams Sonny Siaki. What's the difference between a scoop slam and a body slam anyway? Sonny Siaki once again takes the advantage after blocking a few punches and connecting with some forearms. BAAACK Body drop by D'Lo gets a bit of a pop from the crowd. High Angle DDT by Sonny Siaki just SPIKES D'Lo Brown down! Ekmo comes running down the aisle and into the ring! D'Lo Brown turns around. Ekmo slams D'Lo down. Ekmo climbs to the top rope and hits the Flying Splash! Ekmo leaves the ring, the damage done! The ref gets into position, administers the three count, and it's over. Sonny Siaki pins D'Lo. D'Lo Brown goes on the rampage, firing off stiff shots to both Sonny Siaki and Ekmo, who take the hint and swiftly leave the ring for their own safety. My Opinion: It was close to a ** match, but I just can't stand too many blown spots. *3/4 (71/70/72) (Siaki was the only credible heel I had at this point for the tournament, or else I risked losing the Tanaka/ Low Ki match I wanted. That’s why D’Lo had to fight off both men at the end, so he’d still look strong) Low Ki vs Masato Tanaka. Match Background: Tanaka is making his debut at this show. He also works for MLW and FLI. Low Ki knows Tanaka well from Zero-One in Japan. The Match: Flying elbow from Low Ki connects. Doctor Bomb connects and Tanaka landed hard. There's a two count on the pin. Tanaka reverses a waistlock. Tanaka hits a right hand. Bodyslam by Tanaka. There's a two count on the pin. Powerbomb on Low Ki. Pin, but Low Ki is out just before the three count. Tanaka slams Low Ki down and motions to the crowd. Masato Tanaka gets taken down out of nowhere! Nice piledriver on Tanaka. Covers for a quick two count. Massive lariat! Stan Hansen would approve. Pin, but Tanaka is out just before the three count. Hard back suplex on Tanaka. Come to think of it, that move had WAY too much power in No Mercy for N64. Tanaka gets caught with a belly to belly suplex from Low Ki! Tanaka backdrops Low Ki out of a piledriver attempt. That took a lot out of Masato Tanaka. Running knee lift from Masato Tanaka. Brutal sit out powerbomb on Low Ki! Low Ki is in trouble. Roaring Elbow! 1....2....3. My Opinion: All it gets is a ***1\2 rating from me. Deal with it. (80/73/88) (I just wanted to put 2 of the stiffest wrestlers in the same match together) TOTAL CARD- 72% (It’s all getting better since JJ got injured…like it would in real life??) NEXT ROUND OF WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT: Steve Bradley gets a bye Satoshi Kojima vs Masato Tanaka Kid Kash vs Vampiro Raven vs Sonny Siaki Until next time…thanks for reading

    3 questions about Hayabusa

I'm pretty sure it was. If it's the match I'm thinking of, it's available on the excellent "History of Hayabusa" video. I think it was supposed to be Onita's retirement and was supposed to show that Hayabusa was to be the next big name for FMW. Of course my knowledge of Japanese wrestling is minimal, so I could be barking up totally the wrong tree

    3 questions about Hayabusa

Watching the Super J-Cup match is really strange, because he's so skinny compared to his later FMW days. He is still quite sloppy at that stage (I believe that was his first Japanese match under the Hayabusa gimmick, becuase Liger wanted to be the first man to wrestle "Hayabusa" in the orient) and his mask looks really stupid compared to the bad-ass one he wore later on that made me mark out the moment I saw him on ECW's Heatwave 98. God I wish he was still wrestling...

the top ten quotes of all time

Monsoon (to Heenan): You're only upset because you've retired from management and now you can't manage the Bushwhackers (before the Revolution had a "House of Pain" match on Thunder): Saturn: House of Pain? I loved those guys. Remember them Dean, they had a bunch of great hits in the 90's. Jump around Dean, jump around (Malenko half-heartedly bounces on the spot) Angle: Like Abraham Lincoln, I cannot tell a lie- the Big Show is a giant waste of talent Corino (to the Sandman's son): What you looking at you little bastard, the Sandman's not even your real dad

HOLY CRAP THAT MATCH SUCKED ASS. -****

Imagine seeing Majik live in a handicap match teaming with a fat guy against a REALLY fat guy. I've experienced that hell. Worst match- El Gigante vs One Man Gang from Great American Bash 1991. A match so bad that the OMG carried it. The worst match of a terrible PPV

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but why isn't he coming back? Has he fallen out with someone, retired, busy in Japan?

    3 questions about Hayabusa

Thanks for all the information guys. It's great to know the guy can walk again. He was such a great, graceful high-flier in the ring. it'd be dreadful if one slip had left him immobile. Nice to see he still has some presence in the wrestling world, even if he can't wrestle again.

    DC Maximo's EWR4 TNA Diary

I think it's because TNA should be so easy to book. They have so much good talent, plus so much available talent on the indy scene that we all think it'd be easy to do a better job than Mantell is (and we're probably right). I actually hadn't done a TNA campaign for ages, but reading yours inspired me to go back to the asylum, so to speak.

    More TNA brainstorming

Damn right he wasn't. Hell, him and Riggs both did "arrogant pretty boy" gimmicks after the Males split and Riggs' "getting better looking everyday" schtick with the mirror was gold. I say bring Riggs in before Buff- you get a better worker, less ego, cheaper appearance fee and you don't get the "oh God, they've brought in....." reaction that Buff would get Then again, I am a Riggs mark

  18. No, Rey also held the regular tag titles with Juvi, beating the team of Vampiro and the Great Muta, who only won the titles because Kronik refused to job to Rey and the Juice.

    Booker T's little stalker angle

Because Big Mark pinned Booker at the Survivor Series, then Booker beat him on Raw the next night. The following week Mark got his win back and they've been feuding ever since. so yeah, it started at Survivor Series. Of course, the real reason is that Booker is over and Henry isn't, so they're trying to give him the rub, but even jobbing the Rock to Mark Henry didn't work, so I see no reason why this will.
  23. Love the way that Morgan decides to bet on A-Train, then costs him the match. Surely Morgan, who debuted a month ago, wont have earned enough money to waste betting on a wrestler he knows is going to lose. Way to make Morgan look like a fucktard.

    Announcers Ignoring Fans

Loved it at InVasion when Kidman faced X-Pac. JR told us that normally X-Pac would be booed by the fans, but here he could expect support from the partisan WWF crowd. At this point, X-Pac grabs Kidman's WCW Cruiserweight title and raises it above his head to a muted reaction. One minute later, an "X-Pac sucks" chant broke out. By the end of the match, the man the WWF fans were expected to cheer had done the impossible- he got the fans rooting for Kidman (maybe the most over Kidman has been in his entire WWF career)

    Question about M-Pro 10th Anniversary

Regarding the match rating: I also thought it was in the ****1/4- ****1/2 area. Even the blown parts (Shinkaki slipping on the rope walk) don't bring the match down and everyone seems to be having such a good time that I thought it was awesome. I even put it on a comp tape that I'm making my friends for X-Mas. The whole show was damned good (loved the Curry Man 6-man and the Funaki match)
