  1. RAW was boring. Say what you will about a few funny moments, a decent tag, and a decent ME, this show sucks. It was much better than the recent year's crapfests, but does not warrant any praise. 1) What is the deal with Lita? Her music, which used to just SUCK, is now sucky and annoying, with the ridiculous SCREAMING ABOUT YOUR RULES MANNNNN repeated. And her ring skills blow, which has her heat almost gone. Back to Heat soon for you, Amy...a road less traveled by people with talent. By the way, I checked out Lita's book at the store...the first page I opened to had a typo IN THE HEADING. Nice work. 2)Lance Storm. The guy had great heat two weeks ago, and now comes out to generic rap crap, dances to no pop, and gets killed by Roid Zilla. Nice work. By the way, when JR was throwing verbal BJs to IC champs, great job of mentioning Storm. Not like you want the fans to take him seriously... 3)Survivor Series 10-man tag. The Good: It allows Smackdown's superior workers to have more matches. The Bad: IT WONT...because the writers will find someway to fill the matches at the PPV with "Orton Vs. Maven: Respect Match" or some filler crap.
  2. My argument is not that Steamboat drew horribly. Your comments that Liger was a bigger name and drew better is the problem. How could either Liger or Steamboat be faulted for WCW's lousy numbers when Luger/Sting/Vader/Simmons had the belt. Both Steamboat and Liger came in to stop the bleeding, so from Jan-June 92 they weren't going to work miracles (see: 2003, Goldberg, Bill). But Liger was unheard of in the U.S. before January '92. His 2 month promotion did not make him a bigger star than Steamboat. Liger feuded with Ricky Morton while Steamboat was MEing against one of the top heel stables ever.
  3. Liger was a bigger name in early 90's WCW then Ricky Steamboat? Are you joking? Liger worked an Omni Christmas show, with Steamboat and Rhodes' tag bout heavily promoted and Liger's bout with Pillman hardly hyped. Steamboat was the focus of the Dangerous Alliance's "attempt to injure someone" at the Clash in January 92. Steamboat also helped revive WCW from dead to awake with his return at the November 1991 clash. Liger hadnt even debuted. Steamboat had a huge program built with Rude that lasted from January 92 to the summer of 92, main eventing house shows, and featured on TV. Steamboat also had the feature bout (or co-feature) at Beach Blast 92 and WrestleWar 92, and was the biggest FACE on the card for the tag title tournament at Great American Bash 92. Liger had a great match with Pillman at SuperBrawl 2. He had what, 3 months in the spotlight, a little run around December 1992, and a 2 week run in 1995. Liger a bigger draw? No way. Steamboat had the worst theme music ever, but c'mon...
  4. That actually sounds like a nice show (next week)...I think we shall see two title changes, and some good matches. How did they hype AMW's match? You think another new team may debut? Maybe Kashmere & Acid will come back. Wishful thinking. We'll get Disco Inferno jobs to Jacqueline and Madusa and uses the Stone Cold Stunner and David Young.
  5. Marlins make a hot tag to Ivan Rodriguez...look out...
  6. I watched the show with Punk/Dineo V. Slash/the new guy that replaced Brian Lee with a friendthat just started watching wrestling and he thought it kicked ass. I think CM/Dineo should be pushed as more than Raven's talented skater jobber friends. How was the match, Vampiro work well? Any cool CM/Julio double teams?
  7. So it was non-title. That makes no sense. I don't care...NWA's thinking a good idea would be to have your tag champs lose to a new team, but who cares, your championship team needs the shitty Disco Inferno to help you defeat all comers anyway, you have no credibility. What is it with the NWA and their lame ass shit. You're trying to MAKE PEOPLE PAY FOR A SHOW by having NON-TITLE matches....riiiiiight. A tag title match next week? Okay. I guess. "Okay, I guess", by the way, doesn't equal $9.95.
  8. So Doring & Roadkill win the tag titles. Cool. As silly as it sounds, its good booking. They isolate AMW even more from the belts for now...establish a new face team with the gold. I think they should have waited a little while, though...but maybe we'll see a nice reign until the big mega-show? Question: What happened to Ken Shamrock and why isn't he still a part of the company? He could be a draw...I know he wrestled in that 1st show gauntlet match, I think against Sabu, and dropped the title to Killings. How did he look in the ring way back when?
  9. Whoa, Doring and Roadkill...who faced The Simon & Jobber Connection at the last ever ECW Arena show...CONTINUITY! Why the earlier hate for Roadkill...? He serves his purpose in tag matches. They remind me of the Hart Foundation, minus, you know, all the extra talent. OH MAH GAWD CUBS CUBS CUBS ~~~ BOOM!
  10. Being this is the NWA forum, anyone remember those Doom/Steiners matches? See, as a young mark, the Steiners were my favorite, but they had that one team they couldn't beat (at the time, anyway....Doom). Doom got 'em at Havoc 89 and took their tag belts at Capital Combat 90. How were the Steiners supposed to know who they were wrestling when they were wearing masks? They could've been anyone...Simmon, Reed, Ranger Ross.... Anyway, remember when you cared about characters and they had legitimate rivalries and had to learn how to beat teams? Not just Russo running in with a bat and/or title belt shot to help Styles lose heat. GO CUBS.
  11. The crowd just popped big time for an amazing moment. I hope some of you are watching this, seriously. I meant the baseball game, of course. On PPV, Uncle Zebekiah is booking.
  12. Michael Shane fan, what're they doing with Shane now? I saw the Ultimate X match, and his bout w/ Kazarian before, and he didn't look BAD in the ring, just very bland. Is he full fledged heel now or just kinda cocky? Feuding with Sabin/Kazarian still?
  13. Speaking of coincidence, I find it funny that Major League Baseball has produced awesome "storylines" now with underdog series (Cubs/Marlins), the "curse", the interfering Cubs fan, the Pedro/Zimmer altercation, the Sox Vs. Yankees, etc in ONE WEEK, while pro wrestling has had about 2 compelling storylines ALL YEAR...and it's scripted.
  14. Abyss is totally cool with me, don't get me wrong. He may look bush league, but at least he is entertaining. So Daniels loses to Michael Shane, who's up their with Siaki and Syxx-Pac as far as X-Champs, IMO. Nice...
  15. No PPV tonight...updates! What's the deal with this Legend guy? Why is he booked into programs of high profile and we're expected to care (such as that Daniels/Legend v. Watts/JJ tag, and the WarGames run-in). He sucks in the ring, can't speak, and has a shitty generic dark match WWE look. He should be used as fodder for Abyss, who is the most ridiculous Mankind mask/Kane gimmick rip-off ever...but has actually really grown on me. Is Daniels/Shane for the belt?
  16. Hey, can someone give highspot, botched spots, replay value, and news for this show? From the 7 or 8 weeks I've ordered, TNA has been hit or miss. The 1-cent show was great, and that XXX/AMW cage match is in my top 3 for MOTY (personal list, anyways...), WarGames was contrived, and that Super X tournament was absolutely incredible. But Raven has been booked with a bunch of losers (Vampiro? Ugh...), but Slash is a decent worker that could get a good match with him tonight. So lemme know if the show's worth ordering. (...congrats Sonjay!)
