Actually, most of the big cuts should be in the next day or two. The Broncos are contributing Trevor Pryce, Mike Anderson and Jeb Putzier to the cut list.
-
Do you mean real trades or mock trades? Real trades, of course the order will be corrected. As for mock trades, I agree with Porter, no mock trades.
-
They're yours if Vern doesn't want them.
-
If you want to keep someone acquired via FA or trade, you forfeit the pick they were originally drafted at or if they were undrafted you forfeit your last round draft pick next year.
-
Another thing would be we need to use more PMs. If you see you are within the next 5 picks and are leaving the computer, PM someone a list. Also, we'll go again with if you participated (actively, you had to make at least one pick) last year then you can keep the team. I'll try to make the list when I am on lunch. Below is the list. Teams with * are taken, teams with posters are their's if they want them, open are available to whoever. Bold have OK'd start time *Houston – Conspiracy Victim* *NO – teke* *Tennessee – the pinjockey* *NY Jets – Cena’s Writer* *Green Bay – VX* *SF – Bored* *Oakland – LaParkaMarka* *Buffalo - EvanderHolyfieldsMissingEar* *Detroit – EvanderHolyfieldsMissingEar* *Arizona – Kingofthe909* *St. Louis – Prime Time Andrew Doyle* *Cleveland – nogoodnick* *Baltimore – SpikeFayeJettEdBebop* *Philly – pinjockey* *Atlanta – bravesfan* Dolphins – Harley Minnesota – open *Dallas – Loaded Glove* *San Diego – Porter* *KC – LaParkaMarka* *New England – FFMS* *Denver – CanadianChris* *Tampa – Kahran * *Cincy – Gert T* *NY Giants – therealworldschampion* *Chicago – AoO* *Carolina – Rrrsh* *Jax – APO* Indy – 4hartthreat *Seattle – MrRant* *Pittsburgh – Tyler* *Washington – SpikeFayeJettEdBebop*

Is there any interest in doing the TSM mock draft again this year? And by interest I mean actual interest, not "omg this is taking too long whining and fading away after a week" interest.

There is a press conference tomorrow in Philly, where reportedly Primeau is going to officially call it a season. With his money freed up, expect a Clarke move pretty quick. He tends to make his moves before the deadline approaches. Releasing the garbage that is Petr Nedved would free up even more money. No reports of that actually happening, just felt the need to through that out there.

Well, what is the number of players on the roster. I think that is necessary before naming the amount of keepers. If we go Yahoo standard (around 20, right?), I think 4 or 5 works. Anymore than a 1/4 of the team and that is tying up too many players for the next year.
-
How about you can keep whoever you want, but forfeit that draft pick (ex. keep your first round pick from 2006, they are your first rounder in 2007)? Put a bit of risk into keeping a player, not just keeping whoever you want. Sure people who get Arod or Pujols this year would be willing to give up the 1st rounder for them next, but they aren't keeping Arod and adding another top pick next year. I'd also throw on a one year keeper limit, this would keep fresh talent available.

All of this hype and I still couldn't pick him out of a lineup. The only thing I know about him is he doesn't want to win, he wants to inspire. Please tell me how watching a skier fail could possibly inspire me?

Not really the Eagles style to go after a 33 year old on the decline. I could go for them picking up David Givens. I see the arguement for Randle El (versatility), but that should be the last thing on the Eagles mind right now. Their concern should be getting a WR who is good at being a WR. I love Reggie Brown and think Pinky is fine at the #3, but if they are your two WRs you can't screw around with wanting to have a slash type/gimmicky WR. Brown/Givens/Pinkston would be a workable three receiver set, IMO. I'll also throw in that they need to get Steve Hutchinson too. After that if they still have room go get Will Witherspoon, if not they can address that as one of their holes (DL, LB, KR) in the draft.

How about this one: AI to Chicago for Deng/Thomas/1st round pick. The get the expiring Thomas deal and they get a young 2/3 in Deng to go with Iggy. Just looking at the stats, so Bulls fans can correct me if I am wrong, Chicago looks like they need a consistent scorer in the starting lineup. I don't know how highly the Bulls value Deng, but it might be interesting. It would also be interesting, as Chicago is just a couple games behind Philly for the 8th playoff spot. So it could be reasonably seen as giving up the season to give up Iverson to the team trying to chase you down. But losing the opportunity to get romper stomped by Detroit in the 1st round isn't a huge loss. Plus I don't see Iverson being crushed going to a place like Chicago.

Ok that's terrible. I heard them ranting and raving, but didn't want to join the douchebag Legler without hearing more details. I'm in the trade Iverson camp, but not for a package like that. Unless they move Webber as well, there is no point to building a deal around taking on expiring deals, as they won't be under the cap anytime soon. If they can get a high quality young player, a 1st round pick or two, and an expiring deal (to match salaries), I would do that.
-
Did anyone catch on ESPN what Denver reportedly proposed (and was promptly rejected) to Philly for Iverson? I caught Earl Watson and a ton of expiring contracts, did anyone else hear other names or is that as far as it went?

19 million isn't that unrealistic of opening offer, IMO. First of all, if he is asking for $19, it seems safe to assume they are likely looking at more towards $10-12 as a final number. He made $323K in the last year he played. If he can argue that Bertuzzi took an 8-10 year career from him, with standard raises that would probably end up around $4-5 million. Put that together with losing a professional hockey career (not salary, but losing the ability to play hockey) and the catch all "pain and suffering", then all of a sudden a nice chunk of change can rack up in a hurry.

There has to be some limit. Even if they put in a 5 attempt rule or have a rule where after one missed attempt you lose a point for each additional miss. This has turned into a joke. Chris Anderson got killed last year for doing this same thing, but this year it turned into "OMG Natez small so go Nate". Personally, I would not be unhappy to going back to dunks that were actually dunks (i.e. Jordan's leaner). Watching someone go between his legs-off the backboard-off the peanut vendor-off a teammates head is getting a little much. Go up and put the ball through with as much style as possible, we don't need a dance routine before hand.
-
If I would have known it was going to be like this, I could have just turned out after the AI backboard dunk. And can we please go back to the rule where you only get "X" amount of opportunities at the dunk. I'm sorry, no matter how much the announcers wanted to make me to believe it, watching Nate throw the ball for 5 minutes to end up with that is not exciting.

When Iverson has the ball, the whole team tries to keep away from him as they let him go isolated. If you move toward him when he has the ball, all that happens is he gets clogged up. He should be more aggresive when Webber has the ball, because he is a quality passer. A problem with that, though, is that if you run isolation for AI and then Webber gets the ball it takes time to get across the court to him. At which point the ball will probably have been moved already.
-
In regards to AI2, the rumblings are the Sixers staff feels he needs to be more aggresive and essentially be more selfish in taking/finding opportunities. Now how he is supposed to make more opportunities for himself when Iverson and Webber hold the ball for at least 15 seconds every possession, I don't know. They need to make an effort to actively involve him as opposed to just saying "well if you want it, go get it". That is hardly what I would call coaching.

Am I missing where the Jagr hit was dirty? If you want to call it a charge and throw a 2 minute penalty, fine I can see that. But it wasn't Ruutu's fault Jagr had his head down, he did not throw an elbow, and he was not looking at Jagr's back. That is a quality hit, not a dirty hit. If it was a young player who got leveled, they would probably be saying "well that's what happens when you have your head down, he'll learn". Oh and WAR SUOMI!!!

1. Head to Head or Rotisserie? Don't really care either way. If I am a necessary vote, I'll go Rotisserie. 2. Max on player aquisitions/trades for season? (if yes, how many?) no 3. Time managers have to protest pending trades? (No or yes and # of days) yes, 2 days 4. Trade deadline? (if yes, use July 30, Aug 6, Aug 13, Aug 20 or Aug 27?) yes, Aug 6th 5. Time players are on waivers (days or no waivers) 2 days 6. Use "can't cut list"? no 7. Trades reviews by commisioner or league votes? league votes, on the condition that those who vote no voice their reasons. No voting no, then keeping quiet unless a deal is obviously just for the sake of being retarded (Johan Santana for Ryan Franklin) 8. After draft, all unclaimed players free agents or waivers? waivers 9. Minimum innings pitched per week? (if yes how many) yes, 4IP/pitcher slot, ex.7 pitchers = 28 IP. This gives some leeway if you want a 3rd RP or even a 4th if you have some innings eaters up front while still avoiding reliever hoarding. 10. Roster changes weekly or daily? weekly

Nice job USA. They should be beaten along with the people who decided all hockey games needed to air during the day. Hell with America, go Nitty. WAR SUOMI!!!

I love that he is that terrible and still beats out Tomassssssss Perezzzzzzzzzz. What is his pie throwing motion though? And he might not be the 10th IF, he might instead become one of the worst outfielders in the organization. From today's inky: If any one of those weak hitting middle infielders gets any OF playing time, someone needs to be fired immediately.
