  1. Middlesbrough being Medicore is Mclaren's fault, he's spent lots of money and been given 5 years, he did play the youngsters when needed though. I'm still not sure on Terry at International level, looked dodgy at the Euros and against Sweden and Ecuador, to be fair though he wasn't the only one. Anyone know why Ashley Cole didn't take a pen? he's pretty good at them and I had him down as one of our better penalty takers.
  2. When will we ever learn to aim for the top corners when taking a penalty? Shearer and Lineker were great at that.
  3. It happened to Ronaldinho and Petr Cech who couldn't join Arsenal 5 or 6 years ago because they weren't regulars for the country. Adu should be ok getting a work permit as he's well known around the football world. As for joining Chelsea they don't need him at the moment with Ballack,Lampard,Makelele,Essien,Geremi,Diarra and Obi Mikel in Midfield and them playing 1 striker in the usual formation. If he did join he might be sent to PSV Eindhoven first with Chelsea having First Option on him in 2 or 3 years, they did that with a Brazilian Centre Back called Alex.
  4. I'm sure most American players would find the Language and lifestyle easier to adjust to but the Problem with England is Work Permits. The rules make it difficult for a young American to join an English club unless the player's family move here before he's 17 or he plays regular international football for 2 years to get a WP. It's much easier getting Africans, for example Ivory Coast's main club send most of their players to Beveren(Arsenal's main feeder club) in Belgium where it's easy to get a Work Permit, after about a year they can move anywhere in the world without needing to be regulars for the country.
  5. Couldn't some of your MLS teams be feeder clubs for a european team? it might make your league look inferior but it does give the young players a "way in" to a top club. Look whats it's done for the Ivory Coast.
  6. FIFA will only change it if the hosts can't afford to run the competition(Colombia in 1986) It's also Sepp Blatter's pet project, he tried for years to get a World Cup in Africa when elected president. Edit: FIFA look like making more money than ever in 2010. http://www.worldcup2010southafrica.com/content/view/338/92/
  7. Getting a better manager would only help you short term, creating a setup that brings through quality players should be your priority even if it takes 10 years to do.

Yakubu has said he'll only leave for a Champions League team. Not heard any rumours about it but Defoe to Newcastle would be a good move for him if he really wants 1st team football.
  9. Sadly you never really looked like getting a goal, good effort though. At Least you'll be at the next one with the move to Asian qualifying.
  10. Do any of the MLS teams have a Youth Academy? My team is a 3rd Division English team, we use our academy to produce good players who become 1st team players and if good enough they get sold for a big transfer fee. At the moment we have 200 youngsters on the books between the ages of 8 and 18. Edit: it does cost between £250,000 to £500,000 a year though.

Looking forward to the fixtures being announced, we'll definitely get a home game opening day because of the Balloon Fiesta the weekend after.
  13. Their best players are playing(Essien and Appiah)
  14. He had an injury and didn't return until a month before WCW closed down.

He was really good at Watford when they were promoted with us in 98, he then got arthritis in both knees at 19 which pretty much finished him.
  16. Nice Subs as well, take off Saviola and bring on Carlos Tevez.
  17. We must be the only "favourite" without a sitting midfielder who can tackle, Spain have Alonso/Xavi/Senna,Portugal have Costinha,France have Makelele,Brazil have Emerson/Gilberto and Argentina have Mascherano. Edit: Would love Lennon to start from now on but it means Sven dropping a big name who isn't injured.
  18. France looked awful today, should have lost 2-0.
  19. Must be the only one then, we've had him on the transfer list for 6 months and the only interest was from Blackpool, his contracts up in 2 weeks and he's been talking of going back to Australia.
  20. Problem for Cahill is that most "big" clubs have a Goalscoring midfielder, might be a good Paul Scholes replacement at Man Utd though.
  21. Australia are playing Wilkshire at Right Back? With us he's been a creative midfielder who's scared of getting "stuck in" and been left on the bench because of his "tackling skills" Might work though, our 1st choice Right Back was also a CM before being moved.

Fontaine will join on July 1st, may go to a tribunal over a fee. We've also signed Striker Enoch Showunmi from Luton, his record last year is the same as last seasons "Big Lump with skill" Bas Savage(1 Goal) but he did do well in this league when Luton went up. http://stokecity.rivals.net/default.asp?si...=2&stid=8413426 having the guy as manager once is bad enough, Stoke must be insane.
  23. Portugal tonight showed that same problem they've had for 10 years, no Cutting Edge in the final 3rd of the pitch.
  24. Mascherano was awesome at the "Makelele" style in midfield, shame he's at a club that's "linked" with Chelsea.
