Affliction: Day of Reckoning
Youth N Asia replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
I'm not against guys getting paid, but these are the payouts from the first Affliction show, not counting win bonuses. * Tim Sylvia - $800,000 * Andrei Arlovski - $750,000 * Josh Barnett - $300,000 * Fedor Emelianenko - $300,000 * Matt Lindland - $300,000 * Ben Rothwell - $250,000 * Vitor Belfort - $140,000 * Renato Sobral - $90,000 * Paul Buentello - $80,000 * Pedro Rizzo - $70,000 * Antonio Nogueira - $50,000 * Mike Whitehead - $50,000 * Terry Martin - $30,000 * Gary Goodridge - $25,000 * Mike Pyle - $20,000 * Fabio Negao - $20,000 * Edwin Dewees - $15,000 * Mark Hominick - $10,000 * Savant Young - $7,000 * Justin Levens - $6,000 * JJ Ambrose - $5,000 * Ray Lizama - $3,000 That's over $3 million in salary. The UFC has never even come close to that number. I dunno if they can make it running shows like this. Again, I'm not against guys getting paid all they can, but they're throwing money around like WCW. Ben Rothwell is a good fighter, but no way does his name get him $250k. Beuntello getting $80 is nuts, guy is barely a known name and is best known for getting clipped by Arlovski and losing in 15 seconds. I understand that the stars like Fedor, Arlovski, and Big Tim getting monster paydays, but the demand isn't there for most of the other guys, at least not to the point of paying them that much I really hope this company can survive, but I'm not too hopeful. Looking forward to tomorrow's show -
Affliction: Day of Reckoning
Youth N Asia replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Arlovski vs Barnett was the original main event for the second Affliction show, and that WAS the date it was set for after getting pushed back a time or two. So it's just an old posting -
Holy fuck, Jones BIG ASS Truck Rental & Storage is my new favorite black guy

Funny Games tries too hard to be a disturbing movie and just comes off borderline unwatchable
-
and it'll probably look a lot like Richard
-
Oh I know. And I commend them for find a great formula the way they have. As a horror fan I'd just like to think they have more in store than the next "surprise" ending. Expectations are low right now, but I'm gonna keep watching

since it's out on dvd I figured I would bump, and make it spoiler free Finally saw it. Almost seems like they're making Saw movies now just so they can make more Saw movies. The ending of Hoffman framing Straum seemed too obvious that I didn't think they'd go with it...but what do I know. I think the Saw movies are just going to test how long we'll go along with the whole thing. I don't think they have an end in sight. I don't think they have anything past the "ohhhh boy" ending to 6 in sight. Shit's being made up on the fly. Saw Rankings I - first is the best, it's simple, and it works IV - mostly for the Jigsaw back story, plus I liked Rigg II - mostly for the traps and Matthews, but it seemed like they were trying to do WAY too much V - I liked more Jigsaw back story, but otherwise it was nothing I need to see again III - 3 just sucked, I don't know what more to say

I'm going to give it a shot. Despite Funny Games, I still like Tim Roth

mixed feelings about the start of the new season. I dig the time flux to an extent. I think it'll be cool to see the island's history and get some questions answered, as well as Richard throughout the ages. Is he really timeless? If they go back 400 years will he be there? However I don't know how long before it goes from interesting to annoying. I'm still not too interested in the off island stuff. I understand why it has to happen, I just hope it doesn't take them all 16 episodes just to get back. I had more in my head, I'll chime back in later I guess.

don't care if the draft is dead, don't care if it's my turn, I get Hank Scorpio though

I am very uninterested in the Oscars this year. Rooting for Rourke and Ledger, but otherwise I don't care about any of the awards.

The Upcoming Shows/Rumored Fights Thread
Youth N Asia replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
according to observer --Sean Sherk vs. Frankie Edgar is signed for the undercard of the 5/23 UFC show in Las Vegas, which will most likely be headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir That's such a shit match up for Frankie. I'd like to see him fight at 145 in WEC after Sherks lays on him for 15 -

War Machine seems like the kinda guy you want to like, but then he shows what kind of meat head he really is and makes it impossible -

Yeah, I'm gonna do another batch probably Sunday or so, that one will be listed -
I think the silent countdown should be reserved for serious deaths or good season enders. Not little miss been in 5 episodes who's probably not even dead
-
Good man, Flagg. Almost picked him myself
-
this one has stalled pretty bad. I'm gonna pick when I wake up, I'm sure enough people's time has ran out

Both men will gas out and die 30 seconds into the fight
