How did Middle America naturally fail at it? It's the WWE that pushed him down everyone's throats, quickly turned him into a generic heel and then went over the line with the Taker angle. Read the threads about that stuff from 05, it's great. Yeah, I don't get that either. His first video was about how he wanted to do well and God bless the USA. Then before he debuted they had him go more and more heel over it to where he was a full blow baddie before he even had a match

I don't think Dr Death was ever going to get over by the time the late 90s rolled around. I'm going with Val Venis...I just couldn't understand his career. Big guy, Vince likes that, and could put on really good matches, was huge over for quite a while but never got to the upper tier.

I liked the first episode back, lots of really good action. Still don't think Shirley Manson on the show will do anything for me though. And I am going to get tired of the non stop David: "She's bad, you gotta get rid of her." John: "Nooooo"
