  1. Joba was called up, Bruney sent to AAA, Giambi called up, and Cairo DFA'd according to Peter Abraham.
  2. Rivera looked as sharp as you could imagine striking out Rios, Wells, and Thomas to end the ninth inning today, while topping out at 97 mph on the gun.
  3. All you've gotta do is curb your enthusiasm a little bit there, sparky.
  4. Yeah, thanks for the lesson.
  5. Prepare to....NOT witness Joba
  6. Earlier I was simming through franchise mode in MLB 2K7 with the Braves. Year 1, I gutted the team by July 31 and ended up below .500. By getting rid of the Joneses, Smoltz, Hampton, and Wickman, I wittled down the payroll from $97 million or so to about $43 mil and started over. In 2008, I won 98 games. Here's my opening day 2009 lineup. SS Hanley Ramirez RF Nick Markakis 3B Alex Rodriguez 1B Miguel Cabrera C Brian McCann CF Alex Rios LF Jeff Francoeur 2B [CPU-Generated SS Prospect, 85 overall] Pitcher The my rotation is Tim Hudson, Justin Verlander, Scott Kazmir, Andrew Miller, and a prospect. The closer is Huston Street. My bullpen and bench are made of of uber prospects and various emerging talents.
  7. Be prepared to witness JOBA
  8. They were ruminating on both, but the Toronto part is more juicy. There is no other reason right now to get rid of Myers than to bring up Joba to the show. Giambi nor Mientkiewicz aren't ready yet, and even if they were it would be somebody off the bench to go rather than somebody else out of the pen. They already traded a reliever for an infielder this week as it is.
  9. Rejoice, friend! Mike Myers DFA'd I did hear Sterling and Waldmin talking a few days ago that Joba was in New York getting his passport. Tomorrow, the Yankees are in Toronto...
  10. At least you got rid of him. He's on Scranton now. And he might have been the worst baseball player I have ever seen over the first half of the year. I'm surprized he wasn't flat out released.
  11. Sounds like you have a classic case of Wil Nieves on your hands.
  12. Were there any individual awards in those days? Bonds has 7 MVPs, but that doesn't stack up with Ruth who didn't have the opportunity to win any.
  13. Gold Gloves are (a) extremley subjective. Once somebody gets one or two, they seem to automatically get them for years on end. Not saying this in Bonds' particular case, but Gold Glove awards are a very bad way of comparing these two. And (b) when were they introduced? I doubt they had them in Ruth's era. That's like marking against Cy Young for not winning any Cy Young Awards. Ruth was such a good hitter that they couldn't afford to not convert him into a postion player. There wasn't a DH until the 1970's.
  14. For my sake I hope he's a gimmick.
  15. Burn Notice on USA has been terrific.
  16. Boise State at 42? Ouch.
  17. Doug Gottlieb is the reason they have those spit protectors on the mics. He's awful.
  18. It's been placed on the facade at the Stadium.
  19. If you're interested, the Yankees unveiled the logo for the 2008 All-Star Game.
  20. If somehow he is called up and pitches on Thursday, that means that I will have been to both Chamberlain and Hughes' debuts this year.
  21. Hopefully Joba's on the bus from Scranton as we speak.
  22. Now, now, that's too small of a sample size.
  23. From what I understand of it, it's because the Yanks took the lead in the top of the 8th and the O's (home team) didn't get a shot to bat again. The only other time I know of a suspended game was the pine tar game in 1983, but that was under totally different circumstances.
  24. Kei Igawa sent down to AAA. Again.
