WWE General Discussion - February 2008

I would think WWE's just covering their ass. When folks think wrestling, they think WWE, for better or worse. With this "Industry News" section, WWE have suddenly flashed a spot light on the indies. Now WWE can say "Hey, we're not the only wrestling group out there!" when Congress gets on their ass. Take some of the heat off of themselves and have it put on someone else. I mean, how many Senators or Representatives do you think even know much, if anything about TNA? Or ROH or any of the indy promotions out there? The section is still pretty cool though.
  2. As a selfish wrestling fan, there's nothing more I'd like to see than The Rock come back to wrestling, but I understand he's left that world behind. I know good and well he's never going to wrestle again. That's fine. But it doesn't make it any less irritating when he appears during a pre-taped commercial going "Hey RAW fans, come check out my latest movie, *insert movie here*!". Why couldn't he do that live? If he loves wrestling so much, why couldn't he have been bothered to show up during Raw XV? Hell, in the last three years, I've seen Shaq on Raw more times than The Rock. I just think there's something kinda wrong about that.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

I like TNA, but damn, I wish they'd replace it with HUSTLE. Throw some subtitles on it and watch the ratings pour in.

    Superbowl XLII

    I think I win.

    Bobby Lashley released

    25. Dogs never had sex during any of Lashley's matches.

    Global Impact

I don't really see the issue with the 6-sided ring and honestly, it took me longer to get used to Chikara's shorter ring than it did TNA's 6-sided ring. Hell, to be honest, I didn't really notice that the Angle/Nagata match was in a 4-sided ring until the folks in this thread started bitching about TNA's ring. And I think it was in another topic, but I believe Global Impact got a .8.

CHIKARA King of Trios (February 29, March 1, March 2)

I predict Incohelios (Hallowicked, Delirious, and Helios) win this. Though I'm hoping The Colony wins.

    Final Resolution

I watched a stream of the show last night, and it was your standard TNA PPV. Lots of questionable booking, some fun matches, a lot of guys working hard, with a fair amount of suck sprinkled throughout for flavor, with the whole show ultimately being rather forgettable.

Impact spoilers (airs December 27th and January 3rd)

Well, it's not like anyone outside the same million or so people who watch Impact even know what TNA is. And considering how bad Impact has been lately, that's probably for the best. Though it's not like they need much more than the million or so watching to be successful.

    *Smackdown/ECW Spoilers*

I'm looking forward to the Colin Olsen squash. He's the Feel Good Jobber of the Decade.

Yeah, that was ODB. She was part of OVW for a while, until TNA signed her. The more I watch her, the more I'm surprised WWE didn't offer her a developmental deal.

    ECW 12.18.07

One half of the the Olsen Twins with "twin brother" Jimmy Olsen, "The Feel Good Tag-Team of the Decade". They wrestle in a bunch of Northeast indies, most notably CHIKARA. I'm a fan of Chikara, so seeing him get squashed by Shelton was kinda thrilling. EDIT: This clip sums them up pretty well. It also amuses me to no end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhov41UQbUI

Holy shit, it's Colin Olsen. *marks out CHIKARA-style*

    Senshi Quits TNA

He did? Well, then take my idea and plug in Simon Diamond. The point is, add a heel to Tenay and West and the announcing quality should theoretically improve.

    Senshi Quits TNA

Tenay probably wouldn't be so horrible if they didn't make him shill. Shane Douglas can't be doing anything important, put him out there. Let West be the over-excited, face announcer, Douglas the total heel, and Tenay, the Professor who calls every single move by it's correct name, then tells us the history of the move.

    Turning Point

Nothing was really horrible, but nothing was worth whatever the PPVs cost. The Womens' title match was easily the best overall segment of the entire show. Otherwise this felt like a really long Impact. Also, for shits and giggles, I decided to go to the TNA roster page and see who Joe could've picked. Outside of Jarrett (who wouldn't have fit Joe's spiel about young, hungry guys), Eric Young was the only viable choice.
  17. I'm not expecting CHIKARA to have some super medical staff at ringside, but if they (and other indies) could have a ringside doctor or at least a little equipment for these worst case injury scenarios. Hell, I'd take a ringside worker who took some first aid classes. It is depressing though. I'd like to see promotions be prepared for situations like this, but I understand that they can't afford to have those precautions. And on a side note, as much as I love CHIKARA I have a hard time considering it "big".
  18. I'm glad to hear that Lince is going to be ok, though considering it's the second time he's hurt himself doing that move, he should probably think about retiring it. And yes, this does make you think that all indy groups should have properly trained paramedics at ringside. Also, from what I read on the CHIKARAFans forum, he didn't have a seizure, it was convulsions that resulted from the severe concussion he suffered.

Jericho: "Ring of Honor fans are losers"

They just do a lot of chants that range from quite clever to really fucking irritating and stupid. Anyways, while not every ROH fan is the same, their target audience is the nerdiest of the already mostly nerdy wrestling fans. The Trekkies of Wrestling if you will.

Jericho: "Ring of Honor fans are losers"

Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I don't remember hearing him say anything about ROH fans being losers.

WWE General Discussion - October 2007

Considering Vince is the one with the final say over all creative matters and that Steph is head of creative, I don't see the point in blaming the "Hollywood Writers" for all of WWE's creative woes. Vince wants things a certain way and the writers give him what he wants. I can't really fault them for that, they're just doing their jobs. I mean, if you do something one way and your boss wants it a different way, are you really going to argue with him? If you want to keep your job, then I would think the answer is "no".

WWE General Discussion - October 2007

London and Kendrick don't even have a match at the PPV. They may get one added at the last minute, but still, it's not like they get all that many PPV matches, so what's the point of saving it for PPV?
