Polls should begin in October. There is no legitimate way that a team can be judged just by how they look in spring practices and in the summer months. Did anyone truly believe that Florida was going to be a top 10 team with their insanely hard schedule and questionable coaching? Or that Ohio State was going to stay in the top 10 with all of the losses they had due to graduation and the NFL draft?

It seems like there is going to be a shitstorm of controversy whenever the year ends in 4(84, 94, 04). 1984 - BYU goes undefeated on an extremely soft schedule, beats an unranked Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl, and wins the national title. Had it not been for a unsportsmanlike penalty on the Sooner Schooner wagon at the Orange Bowl, Oklahoma would've beaten Washington and probably would've won the national title. Sporting News would vote Florida #1 in their own poll. 1994 - Nebraska and Penn State both go undefeated. However Penn State gets screwed due to Paterno pulling the starters at halftime and allowing garbage points. Also Penn State gets screwed due to their bowl matchup, having to go to Pasadena to play Oregon while Nebraska got to play Miami at the Orange Bowl.

If Auburn wins the Sugar Bowl, it is going to be 1994 Redux, i.e. Nebraska/Penn State.

I will stick to my point that as long as Cal does not lose, they should be in the BCS over Texas, as they were one incomplete pass away from being undefeated, while Mack Brown is pleading to voters to ignore that a 4 year old could probably outcoach him in a big game.

The SEC is going to be a complete war next year, especially the SEC East. With Tenneessee still a young team, Florida extrememly talented, Georgia still in the mix, and Spurrier at South Carolina, it's going to be a lot of fun there next year.

USC up 29-17 now, so I don't think they'll be upset. And USC also gains points in my book due to Virginia Tech winning the ACC title today for their win in August.
