Anderson doesn't even have good OBPs in the minors. He has no power or plate discipline, and given a full time job he's Juan Pierre lite. That's not a good thing.

I can understand hyperbole. Would you rather they say, "in terms of our sport this ranks somewhere in the middle!"? Doesn't come off as well. One that sticks out is Gorilla Monsoon in 1992 stating Bushwacker Luke held the record for the shortest Rumble time. The record was held by the Warlord. Given that the Warlord was #30 in this Rumble, it would not have helped to mention how easily he was once eliminated.

Most right fielders are above average hitters. Of the 21 right fielders to qualify for a batting title, Drew ranks 18th in OPS, 20th in batting average and dead last in slugging percentage. Walks are an important trait, but at this point it is Drew's sole contribution to the Sox' offense. I feel bad for Drew in a way, but he more than almost any player in baseball is responsible for the bed he made. Every move Drew has made in baseball has involved grabbing the money. That's well and good, but don't expect to cultivate a fanbase that way.

Czech, I don't want to hear the celebration if and when the Cubs win. Phillies need some help from the Mets or Padres' opponents, but they have a good schedule coming up. Six games against the Nationals, four against the extremely struggling Cardinals.

Undertaker vs. Undertaker at Summerslam '94 takes the cake for me, since it followed a 30 minute World Title cage match. I think there are situations where you put the non-title match on last. Generally if you're doing a big blowoff match, say a non-title cage match.

No tight races in the American League at this point. The NL Central is still a three team race and the wild card chase is close with the Phillies, Dodgers and Rockies all chasing the Padres. The Cubs have a makeup game against the Cardinals tomorrow and a full series over the weekend.

O.J. Simpson named in casino break-in

I don't know who moved this but it sure as hell isn't sports. -
Was it really necessary to bring in a situational lefty in a three-run game with the bases empty to pitch to one batter? As for the game itself, this series is relatively meaningless unless something drastic happens in the next two weeks.

WWE General Discussion - September 2007

That Wrestling Observer article was abysmal. I couldn't make it through the whole thing. -
Because they play the Cardinals. I think the Friday games are a pick-em deal for the network who will show the in-contention Brewers. Sunday was probably set a while back, and that's reasonable considering the Cards are defending world champions. Besides, it beats watching yet another Yankees/Red Sox snoozefest.

September '06: Why won't the Padres lose an eff'ing game? September '07: Why won't the Padres lose an eff'ing game? Dual sweeps this weekend barring a ninth inning Giants comeback.

One more will tie him for the Milwaukee record of 47, set by Eddie Mathews in 1953.

Just for fun. The Orioles' pitching during their nine game losing streak. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/tgl.c...t=p#124:132:sum My favorite: they failed to turn a single double play over that stretch.

Here's a thought. The Rangers were lambasted for giving Alex Rodriguez the ten year contract back before the 2001 contract. If Rodriguez opts out, wouldn't that indicate the contract was actually a good one in hindsight?

I think the Brewers can look at this season as a positive. If it ended today they would still carry their best win/loss percentage since 1992. Plus their core is very young, and likely to improve further.

2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to Dobbs 3K's topic in The WWE Folder
I think it's fair. Owen's death was the worst thing that ever happened at a wrestling event. Finances are just that. And I'd be willing to bet that the accident is the one thing Vince McMahon wishes he could undo. -
http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/major...res/264575.html Managers vote on who has the best tools in the American League.

Not so fast. The Padres pulled one out of their asses last night.

I never understood why Mets fans got upset. What's wrong with showing a little self-confidence? The New York sports media loves to take quotes and blow them into a story. For the record, Rollins is hitting .364 against the Mets this season with a .712 slugging percentage.

Only 7.5 games up on the playoffs. How do Sox fans deal with the pain? I'd like to point out that for all the supposed failures, the Red Sox haven't lost 90+ games in a season since 1966, and 1992-94 was the only time they finish under .500 in consecutive seasons.

Giants lead the Padres 3-2 in the ninth. A San Diego loss would bring the Phils to within a half game of the wild card.

9/11: Tragedies That Have Nothing To Do With Airplanes

Heart Shaped Box I remember solely because ECW took the song and wrapped it around a video package for Beulah. For some reason I liked it. -
While Michael Kay babbles on about Eric Gagne. Let me mention that the high ERA comes with 14 Ks and 4 BBs in 11 IP, one home run. He allowed an unusual number of hits. Is there a reason he's pitched once since the 26th of August?
-
And for anyone worrying about their bullpen. I currently cheer for a team that had three relief pitchers all season post an above average ERA. One is J.C. Romero, who walked 22 batters in 26 innings to get there. Second is Ryan Madson, out for the year. Third is Geoff Geary, who JUST got there this week. That's IT. Edit: Yeah, three pitchers they trust. I don't trust ANYONE in the Phils' bullpen. And hell, there isn't anyone I trust in the rotation either until Hamels returns.

Ask any Sox fan on this board, Okajima is wearing down. Which leaves the Sox with only five effective relievers. They'll add another in the playoffs since they won't need a five-man rotation.
