Dream Matches in the WWE (or wrestling in general)
zyn081 replied to zyn081's topic in The WWE Folder
I hate you Vince McMahon. -
Why cant it be a case of the fact that you learn with experience. If hes submitted to the crossface so many times, surely you find a way to counter it. I think this actually does make logical sense, and should have been up-played more, along with the fact that HHH has yet to recently beat Benoit in 1-on-1 competition.
-
Hes needs that monster run with the title and I am putting money on him beating Flairs record. I joke. I think the damage of being a HHH bitch is permanent unfortunately, look at Jericho. I would hate to see him grovel to HHH as Jericho did to Stephanie. I would like to see one last run for Flair as a face. The sooner Evo implodes, the sooner that will happen. Yes, agreed, but HHH is the number 1 heel god damn it Id prefer it if HHH took 3-6 months off. Id hardly say that youngest champ in WWE history has peaked.

Sorry, but I havent heard anything of this. Burchill is the MAN. Watching him do a moonsault once off the top rope was amazing. Hes just up Vinces street. Give him Regal as his manager. -
LOL, thanks. You were going to flame me then? No... just pointing out the error before some dickhead comments are expressed. LOL, thanks its past midnight here. I love submissions matches. I am sure a few of you here know that I would love to see Dames idea (if im not mistaken for SurSer 2003) of an Angle-UT submissions match. I loved Austins-Hart WMXIII match. Would love to see a Lesnar-Benoit subs match.
-
I thought he came across as being a whiney snotty nosed kid, that hadnt done anything to make me care about him.
-
Indeed. Benjamin, like Christian, has no personality or gimmick other than "Generic Midcard Face/Heel". Same goes for Maven. Orton could have been something but they already blew it with him, and I don't think they can make him the next Austin/Rock superstar they hoped for. Cena can't (or at least hasn't) cut a promo that would make me want to see one his matches yet either, so unless he improves he shouldn't get past midcard status. I still remember his one before his match with Lesnar, the one after Brock put him out. I remember it clearly, that it was very well done. "Were inmates now Brock, and you just dropped the soap".

Yes it was. ... but its all good. Im just glad that I created a post that got so many hits. Indeed. In the spirit of things then, I'll throw a few more out that I don't think anyone's mentioned. Lesnar/Kobashi Lesnar/Akiyama Lesnar/Burchill (a bit pre-emptive I know...) Lesnar/Batista (last nights Raw cemented me as a Batista mark) Jericho/KENTA Benjamin/KENTA Dutt/Mysterio Eddie/Dutt (Doug) Williams/Benoit Styles/Benoit Oh, if anyone could point me in the direction of that Lyger/Mysterio match I'd really appreciate it. I would love to see Burchill in the US. No Rob, fraid not. -
That would make a change.

Thats my point. But it was done at the expense of Benoit, who is sliding down the pecking order fast. I know, feeding Benoit to Batista makes Big Dave look more believable, but it makes Benoit look bad. They couldnt have used Jericho or Orton. Using Benjamin would make him look weak before his IC defense. Eugene is no longer taken seriously. Regal never was. That leaves Benoit, just a shame he was fodder for Batista. 90% of the fans will forget about this match in two weeks, maybe by next week depending on the reaction to the elimination chamber. It did help Batista, but I don't think Benoit will have a problem keeping the crowd on his side and being looked at as a contender for the title. It wasn't a squash for Batista anyways. Either guy could have won, and Benoit has beaten Batista before. If Batista beats Benoit again cleanly next week and the week after that, then you guys will have valid complaints. It will be forgotten. For sure it will be. Its just a clear sign that Benoit has sliped down the corporate ladder. That is my point.

He should have been DQed. Ive made this point elsewhere that if you do anything of the sort the ref should DQed you. HOWEVER, the turnbuckle is part of the ring and I do believe that, just as the steel steps can be used, so can an exposed turnbuckle or the tag ties to strangle your opponent. You have to break by the 5 count.

Randy Orton botches his lines to much. It ends up making him look stupid and then he has to stop a few moments and the go on like nothing happened. Last night was the first time that I can remember since turning face that he did not do that. I wouldn't say that Benjamin is the future really. He's just gonna end up being the face equivalent of Christian eventually. Hes getting better, look at his promos this time 2 years ago, when he was doing the RNN. Whos is the future then in the WWEs eyes? Ortons the next HHH, Benjamins the next Rock and Cenas the next Austin. I know its said, but Vince wants to relieve the glory days of the Attitude era. A superstar should be a superstar in his own right, and not a clone or wanabee. Thats why Brock was fresh. Actually a lot of people started liking Randy because of his RNN promos. Benjamin is not the next Rock. He is really just gonna be the face equivalent of Christian, like I said before. People will think of Benjamin as being a guy who could be a challenger for anything, just not the main belt. He's gonna be bounced around the card just like Christian and people will quit caring about him, but he'll always will get them back, only to have them lose interest once again, due to booking. He's just gonna be a second tier guy. I started to like Randy at the start of his Legend Killer gimmick. I couldnt care less what % his arm had reached. I guess your right re Benjamin. Sure I read that him and Orton are the 2 next huge stars of the company. God knows were.

Yes i did, sorry.

Ha! We obviously haven't learn't anything about WWE in the past three years. ELIMINATION CHAMBER, WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Triple H vs. Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho vs. Edge vs. Batista Well, my predictions are not unlike everyone elses. Triple H will win somehow, because I honestly cannot see them having enough faith in Batista to put the title on him. I would love to see Orton, Edge or Jericho win it, but, except for Benoits WrestleMania dream being fulfilled, WWE has a history of not giving me what I want. Winner: Triple H WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Shelton Benjamin © vs. Maven If Maven wins the IC Title I will cry. I think Shelton will retain, because they're building him as a Randy Orton-type Champion, and he'll get a 4 to 6 month reign with the belt. But you never know with this company. Winner: Shelton Benjamin WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP William Regal & Eugene © vs. Christian & Tyson Tomko Eugene and Regal to retain here, they're having the usual three month run with the belts before they job them to two Main Event stars who have just happened to tag for one night. Winners: William Regal and Eugene WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP Lita © vs. Trish Stratus Lita will retain, as tWWE love her and the marks lover her, so the writing team will want to keep the belt on her for a couple months, at least until Mania. Winner: Lita Kane vs. Gene Snitsky Kane's going over in much the same fashion as The Undertaker at WrestleMania XX, Snitsky's going to get about 5 offensive moves in, and thats it. Lita to celebrate with her 'husband' after the match. Winner: Kane Jerry "The King" Lawler (w/Jim Ross) vs. Muhammed Hassan (w/Daivairi (can't remember the first name)) I couldn't care less. If Hussan wins in a squash, I'll be ok with it. If Lawler wins by ten fist drops in a row, I won't be surprised, and I'll move on. Winner: Who really, honestly, truly cares? Really? I would say Orton (please be Jericho, please be Jericho, please be Jericho). I would like to think Benjamin. I would like to think Eugene and Regal. Lita. Poor Snitsky. I would bloody hope that Lawler gets squashed, but hes a commentator, oooo, scary. No way you can be DQed in the EC. Just like you cant be DQed in any gimmick match to my knowledge. DQ and Submissions goes out of the window. Your surrounded by 2 miles of steel, weighing 10 tonnes and being 36 feet in radius or whatever they tell us repeatedly. How could you possibely be DQed. :S Since you cant be DQed can somebody explain to me why each and every one of them doesnt take a bloody lead pipe in with them, since thats what I would do.

I have this theory though that you can put the following fact over: wrestler A WAS BETTER THAN wrestler B AT A GIVEN POINT IN TIME. Obviously, that requires good booking and storytelling for a reverse feud possibility with the opposite effect.

Odd. I want to see Benoit off TV for 3-6 months, for entirely different reasons. Which are please, if you care to share. And I dont mean that sarcastically. Sorry for posting same thing 3 times, internet froze.

In most cases, whenever someone comes off of a title run they usually are moved down the card. Benoit was "chasing the tag titles" because the people who did not win the voting in Taboo Tuesday were to be involved in the tag title match. He's back in the title picture this Sunday, so what's the big deal? Benoit had a run from WrestleMania to SummerSlam. That's pretty good. 2004 was his year. Now it's 2005 and time for someone else to shine. I can't believe people are freaking out about one job on a Raw that will probably be forgotten by most people within six weeks. Sorry, wrong choice of words. But being put in the tag team picture is a demotion from World Champ.

Yes, he is better playing the cocky heel. I believe that he has to be a heel. Nobody is drawing at the moment. He took a step forward by leaving the Evolution fold, unfortunately it was too soon as he cant hang on his own. Hes thus taken 2 steps back. Going back to Evolution is 5 steps back, youve killed the guy before hes even begining to touch his prime. The only way that angle would work is if hes made, and this will happen, HHH's bitch. Your also prolonging Evolution by another 2 years that way, and Randy want be able to even sniff at a singles belt before then. Might as well send him back to OVW. He should have faced The Rock at Backlash and beaten him. Rock would have done it. He did it for Goldberg and Brock for crying out loud. Foley should have happenede at Bad Blood. But at the moment, a Benoit face isnt doing anything for me either. He is not bulletproof, he is highly respeceted, theirs a difference. HBK, Foley, The Rock, UT, Austin and HHH are bulletproof, everybody else such as Jericho, Booker, RVD, Eddy and Benoit are respected. Why ugh? Is there anybody else?

Agreed, but Benoit should still be strong. It will be forgotten, but one must remember that although there is a difference between a job and putting somebody over, by putting somebody over you are doing it at your expense but just dont look so tremendously bad as a job. IMO, Jericho was a heel for too bloody long. RVD has always been a face. RVD has lost his heart. Those 2 things really get my back up. That makes his useless to the WWE. Look at the sorry state of Booker. From legit contender at WMXIX to a couldnt care less average wrestler portrayed very weakly by HIMSELF versus Cena and JBL.

I dont want Benoit to go back to SD!. That would have been his 3rd brand swap. I hate brand swaps. Maximum of 1 or 2 a year. I also really dislike Interpromotional matches. They are cheap quick fix type gimmicks. Batista has been assigned a task, to get pops from the crowd. And his doing it bloody well IMO. He cant do many things, but what he is doing he is doing it very well. Hes a monster, who is good with one-liners that get peoples backs up. He is there to squash people. He will not last. I cant blame the WWE for taking the reactions hes getting and running with it. As somebody else said on another post, if he loses a major match, he loses a lot of ground. If Benoit were to beat him now, the effect on his character would be disastrous. He should be playing it up more, and this would have been better a month down the line, him telling HHH at least someone can get the job done versus Benoit. Who could Batista face instead of Benoit. He made Jericho his bitch last year and Orton, in the WWE's eyes, is the number one face at the moment. Remember when Benoit jumped to RAW, they had a match where Benoit had Batista in the Crossface when they played up Benoit pulling Batitas arm of the socket and HHH stared on frustrated beggint Batista not to tap. Benoit repayed the favour last night.
-
He did, I must admit, but your suggesting he should go back to Evolution with his head between his legs. That would kill him. The kids only 24. He bumps his ass off. Look at the way he took a Benoit suplex at SummerSlam. It looks at it should do. Bloody painful. He has a good moveset. The RKO, modified backbreaker, the DDT from the top rope with that sick expression on his face, the cross body, the dropkick, plus countless other moves I cant remember cause its late. He can cut a decent promo and can tell a good story whilst hes in the ring with a seasoned wrestler. Hes the future of the WWE with Cena and Banjamin.
