  1. The mailman? (sorry couldn't resist)
  2. Before it became a PPV in 1993, were any of the winners of the annual king of the Ring tournament acknowleded on TV? I know they had Harley Race, Haku, Jim Duggan and Randy Savge as Kings on TV but they all won it off the each other, not in the tournament (i think).
  3. In a NO-DQ tag match , why does one member of each team have to stand on the apron and hold the rope like in a normal match. I remember back at No Way Out 1998 there was a 'unsanctioned' eight man tag match which started as an all in brawl and after about 5 minutes there was only 2 left in the ring and the rest were waiting to get tagged in. What's the ref going to do if they dont stand there???
  4. Shawn's religous beliefs dont get pushed on TV. We all know he is a godboy, and he does certain things in his entrance and with his merchandise which show his beliefs but you never hear JR screaming about religion during a HBK match. He is more pushed as an icon/legend who has overcome massive odds to still be wrestling despite 4 years on the bench with a back injury.
  5. sorry, forgot to mention i was being sarcastic. Obviously theres no way WWE would ever book cruiserweights as serious threat to anyone.
  6. If WWE had any sense they would create an on-screen feud to capitalise on all the IWC animosity. Think about it - they could bring in a few 'unknown' cruiserweights and dress them up as internet-loving geeks and have them declare war on the WWE. There spiritual leader could be that Jonny Fairplay guy from Survivor/TNA (or maybe Jimmy Hart) and he would announce that the first victim would obviously have to be Matt Hardy.
  7. Parker Lewis Cant Lose, and Seinfeld
  8. The best part of a Helms hell turn would be the next time the Rock makes an appearance. A babyface Rock and heel Helms face-to-face spot would be gold, and it could all tie in at the end with Orton coming out for a beatdown as revenge for when he confronted Rock a few weeks ago.
  9. Was the Survivors95 match the first time someone had gone through a table on WWF television? I cant remember anything like that happening before that. As KOTR94 - it was a great match with a bad finish. It really announced Diesel as a threat, and was a great step in the booking of the Diesel character as he evolved from bodyguard to IC champ, to World Champion.
  10. How does stuff like 'bags of thumbtacks' and '2x4's wrapped in barbed wire' get under the ring? Do the wrestlers sneak out before the crowd arrives and hide them there? I can sort of understand HHH's sledgehammer because there is a possibility of it being used by the ring crew, but half the other stuff they pull from under the ring is just stupid. I was watching WM15 the other day and Al snow pulled a damn hockey stick out from under there!
  11. It's sorta like the way the DDT was a killer move for Jake Roberts but is now just used as a set up or counter attack move. The last time i saw it get a pinfall was in the HHH/Rock ironman match, and that was more because of fatigue than it being a killer blow. Same thing goes with the Randy Savage Big Elbow, it never gets the pin for Shawn Michaels (or Garrison Cade!).
  12. Why does Ric Flair climb to the top rope?
  13. He's a legend, and Helms is small. That's all i've got.

  16. But the tailbone still hits the canvas in the exact same spot regardless of whether the opponent moves or not. It's the same as if you go for a dropkick and the opponent holds the ropes and you dont make contact - your still hitting the ground in the exact same spot as if you had made contact.
  17. There have been some weird things happen in pro wrestling, so what has made you do the most head scratching? For me, I've always been curious why: When a wrestler goes for a legdrop, and the opponent moves, why do they sell it like it hurts like hell? Aren't they landing in the exact same position as if they had hit the move??? When Shawn Michaels went for the title at WM12 it was because he had a 'boyhood dream'. So where was that dream one year earlier?
  18. I went to see the Global Warning card in August 2002. Historic because it was the first time since 1984 that WWF/E had come to Australia. There were some great matches on the card too (Rock vs HHH vs Brock for the world title headlined), and it set a new attendance record for Colonial Stadium (over 56000 people).
  19. Guess Stacey will need someone to help keep her, uh, pleasured. *puts hand up for job* I actually always liked Test, and thought they could have used him better, despite the shoddy acting. Hope he comes back and gets some sort of push (hey, Hardcore Holly got one so why not Test)
  20. The problem is that there isn't enough difference between the brands. In the late nineties there was 24 PPV's per year (12 WWF, 12 WCW) and everything was fine. The reason was because there were WCW fans and there were WWF fans, and there some some who liked both companies. At the moment WWE isn't trying to seperate the fans and generate a different interest in each brand. Smackdown has the tools to be a WCW type promotion, which succeeded with some big names on top and the smaller guys lighting up the undercard. Until they start to make Smackdown look completely different to Raw brand then the problem will persist. It also doesnt help that the same people are running both brands. Sure the actually writing teams may be different but the main players are the same, and they are bringing the same mindset to both brands. If they put Stephanie in charge of Raw (pray as we might she's not losing her job anytime soon) and Paul Heyman in charge of Smackdown, with both of them answering directly to Vince only, it would allow for different ideas for each brand to be put in place. It will never happen though so the whole system will likely continue to flounder.
  21. If this ends with Matt sweeping everything under the rug and playing happy families with Lita i'll scream. Hopefully there is some sort of swerve instead.
  22. I didn't compare them - i said Edge may become the next Shawn. I say not in terms of wrestling ability but in terms of being a bad draw because he didnt change his look or character well enough to a constant money maker. Shawn is a fantastic worker and has had great matches with everyone from Bret to Sid, and i doubt Edge will ever be that good, but the comparison was for the look and the inability (or desire) to change and appeal to more sections of the fans.
  23. It was either Austin or Rock, but they are gone. Before HIAC it could have been HBK, but Superman never loses in the final scene. So I guess that makes it official - Triple H rules the world!
  24. He's stated before (and it's been mentioned in this thread) that he wanted to cut it but several fans emailed him to say not too, so it's not that he wants long hair, it's to keep the teeny bopper fans and females happy. He will not get to the top with that attitude though. Maybe Edge is just an updated version of HBK - long hair, popular in some circles, but never a real money making drawcard.
  25. Yes, but i'm sure Christian didn't know he would be jobbed so much when he did it. Something tells me WWE management didnt walk up to him and say "we've given you the IC title, now go and get a haircut so we can job you clean over and over again". My A-Train comment was sarcasm, and it wasnt a complaint against him or his work. Truth be told, i have no dramas with Train and would prefer him to several others who clog up TV time. Edge's fans wanting him to keep his hair was kinda my point. He should be trying to appeal to more fans instead of just sticking with the ones he's got (or had). He was never a main eventer before with those fans, so why would he get there now? He really has to find the happy medium and try to keep his current fans while attracting new ones. It's going to be a tough ask for him, he's tried changing to a more serious competitor but it isnt really working. Maybe a heel turn will cure his problems.
