Hmm...I need to stop getting injured every year. Fucks with my stats.

In short, it'll be a wash. Given everything that's happened the past few years, I don't think a new tape is really all that scary so there'll be no rally around the Prez, but at the same time, everyone is already well aware that Osama is still on the loose, so no Bush f'd up at Tora Bora effect for Kerry. As for who Osama is betting on, I doubt that he really cares. And I know for sure that I don't care. And neither should anyone else.

The windows were broke...again. Leftover beer bottles, a matress or two, it looks like the local teens have deicded to make the house a party haven once again. Happens every year or so, that tends to happen when you have a home abandoned but with all utilities and such fully functioning. "Really isn't much, right?" said a voice behind me as I stared from across the street. I turned around about to strikes first, and ask questions later when I saw the speaker...a woman. Well, girl more likely but who can tell these days? Did look oddly famliar though. "Excuse me, and also, it's one o'clock in the afternoon. Shouldn't you be in school?" She just giggled a bit, then said, "you do have a stick up your ass. I thought it was just an act for the rasslin' gig but it's still in full effect here. It's an inservice day David, ya big goof." "Do you usually call people you've just met and whose property you are on goofs?" Again, she just smiled. "Geez, someone basically leaves for nearly five years and they forget everybody." Wait a second. Auburn hair, blue eyes. Barely five foot. I guess the math does work. "Ash?" "Wow, you remembered me. I should feel honored the big, bad wrestler hasn't forgotten all about the little rugrat he once babysat for." "Well, you are a bit older -" That got a look. The meaning which I have no clue about. "Anyway...Babysat? More like was a big brother slash quasi-father figure for. What are you now, seventeen?" "Eighteen in March. Quasi-father figure, David? It'd be sad if it wasn't so true." "Speaking of which - " "Still downstate. His term is up in about six months though. Was barely out a month before he fucked up again. Don't worry though, Mom's still clean and sober thank God. Amazing how quick you can straighten up when your husband has just been caught -" "Ash." Man, those eyes could still make you want to kill whoever caused them pain. "I know what happened. I was there, at least for the final time. It's over, he's still not allowed within five hundred yards of you." "But you weren't here anymore." Ow. Punch in the gut. "I haven't been here for a long, long time babydoll." "You still made stops more before a couple of years ago. It's like you decided that this part of your life was over." "It was. It is. I don't know. I try to visit the homestead every so often to make sure it's still standing. After all, I do own it. Deed and all." I tried for a grin, but it didn't quite work out. Came out more as a cockeyed smirk. Ah, who needs a smile. "Dave, happy go lucky doesn't suit you. I know you're a broody geek stuck in a linebackers body, so just flow with it." "How do you know that? The last time I saw you - well, it doesn't matter but you'd barely hit double digits." "You were a guy perfectly happy to watch an eight year old girl and have her scamper all around causing chaos while you tried to read a book that could kill a small dog." "It was easy money and plus, you were so cute when you were a little munchkin. Too bad you had to grow up." That got me a punch in the arm. Which I sort've felt. More because Drazon worked on that arm a few days back, which I'll - "David?" "Sorry, was rambling in my mind a bit." "Anyway, after you survey the damage how about you come out with me home. Mom missed ya' and plus, it'll do you some good to connect with people who don't want to send you through a table." "Fury's been a decent guy." "Who's just a smaller version of you. Sort've cute though." I just had to shake my head at that. "Still at the same place?" She just nodded. "Give me about an hour here and I'll head out." "Cool, I'll tell Mom to bring out the fine china," she added in overdramatically. "See you then." She ran to her car, a late model job with a bad paintjob. Sort of like my car at that age. Waving as she passed by, honking her horn a few times, I had to smile a bit. At the same time, I had to make a call. My Spanish was still decent, but my accent was still horrible as ever. "¿Juan? ¿Viejo amigacho, puede usted conseguirme la información sobre alguien en la pluma del estado aquí en Pennsylvania? Necesito cerciorarme de que él tenga algunas ediciones para los meses próximos. El precio generalmente será fino. ¿El nombre? Sala De Curtis."

Mike, if you truly believe Drudge is more accurate than the Times and CBS, please take a vacation. You've obviously got way too much invested in this 'evil liberal media who wants to rape America and sell us all out to the French and dirty Muslims' and need to get away from all things political for a while.

Whoops! Iraqi explosives disappear under our guard

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...plosives_abc_dc Report: Video Shows Explosives Went Missing After War 1 hour, 32 minutes ago Top Stories - Reuters WASHINGTON (Reuters) - ABC News on Thursday showed video that appeared to confirm that explosives that went missing in Iraq (news - web sites) did not disappear until after the United States had taken control of the facility where they were stored. The disappearance of the hundreds of tons of explosives from the Al Qaqaa storage facility has become a hotly contested issue in the U.S. presidential campaign. Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) said it was an example of President Bush (news - web sites) bungling the Iraq war. Bush countered that Kerry was making wild accusations without knowing the facts. Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) said it was possible that the explosives had been removed from the site before the U.S. forces arrived there. ABC said the video was shot by an affiliate TV station embedded with the 101st Airborne Division when members of the division passed through the facility on April 18, nine days after the fall of Baghdad. ABC said experts who have studied the images say the barrels seen in the video contain the high explosive HMX, and U.N. markings on the sealed containers were clear. The barrels were found inside locked bunkers that had been sealed by inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency just before the war began, ABC reported. Hmm...maybe those embeds weren't such a genius idea. -
from talkingpointsmemo.com NBC reports out Drudge's 'terror tape' mumbojumbo and adds some helpful debunking details ... U.S. officials told NBC News that the tape included now-standard militant Islamist rhetoric promising widespread destruction inside the United States. The man cannot be identified, the officials said, because his face is covered by a headdress. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said ABC gave the CIA a complete copy of the tape Monday. They described analysts’ concern as “low” because it is not clear that the tape was recorded recently and because the man on the tape, who speaks in what appears to be an American accent, mentions no details. “It’s unclear what this tape is — even whether the person on the tape is an American,” one of the officials said.

Yup, all of Europe and Canada. Not a good Doctor to be found. Just millions of people dying because of inadequate care as opposed to America, where everything is just perfect in the realm of health care.

Mike, just as a side note...Kos has already "polluted the gene pool" to use your own words. I know it's just terrible that liberals are allowed to have children too. -

Well, if a terrorist group having only 1% of explosives in a country is no big deal, terrorists blowing up less than 1% of yearly plane flights is an even smaller deal, right? -

Hell Mike, only 4 planes were hijacked out of thousands of flights yearly, so what's the big deal? I mean, it was probably less than 1%! -

Paper with 100% record of endorsing Republicans
jesse_ewiak replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Rob: http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/news/articl...t_id=1000683265 The Short Bullet Point Version * Kerry Leads Bush 125-96 (Bush beat Gore 138-52) * Kerry Leads Bush in Total Subscribers 16-10 million * Kerry has won 35 "2000 Bush" papers * Bush was won only 2 "2000 Gore Papers" * The Detroit News, which has never endorsed a Democrat, and which backed Bush in 2000, announced that it would sit out the 2004 election, not happy with either candidate. The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, another Bush backer in 2000, said the same thing today in an editorial titled "No One to Champion." A third Bush supporter in 2000, The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa., also declared neutrality today. -

Well, guarding the Oil Ministry was obviously much more important. -

Who ever said Saddam didn't have conventional explosives? This isn't WMD, it's a metric fuckload of what is essentially dynamite in insurgent hands. But, hey, I guess it was more important to guard the Oil Ministry. -
That whole Newsweek poll with a tied race? Err... http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/041023/nysa012_1.html 363 Republicans (plus or minus 6) - 38% 307 Democrats (plus or minus 6) - 31% 296 Independents (plus or minus 7) - 32% EDIT: Got two polls confused. But, if Kerry is tied in a poll where GOP turnout is up by 7, then what will happen in the real election where the DNC will win turnout?

She was also 12. But, I guess you didn't go through any awkward stages at all. So, he mentionined the fact that Dick Cheney's daughter is openly lesbian. Why on earth would that fact make one less likely to vote for Bush-Cheney? The only possible reason is that these voters are bigots, and it is partly on that basis that the GOP is appealing to them. So, theye're catering to homophobes and don't mess with that! Just please don't tell me that the GOP is a tolerant or inclusive party. No big tent here. If you depend on bigots to win elections, and you pander to them, and rev them up by demonizing minorities, don't anybody to sympathize with you when you're caught red-handed. After all, is Mary Cheney's homosexuality some sort of affliction? A horrible and ugly family tragedy like the death of John Edwards' son? The only "cheap and tawdry political trick" performed Wednesday night was the one turned by the Cheney parental units. It was they who used their daughter's sexuality as a weapon against John Kerry's sympathetic (and very general) remark. I mean, the equation of gayness with some sort of embarrassing problem or, worse, some kind of affliction is just wacky. For people who believe this, of course Kerry was out of line. That's why Rove's base is so outraged. But if you don't believe this, it's no different than, say, if a candidate were to mention another candidate's son in the Marines. Or if, in a debate on immigration, a pro-immigrant candidate mentioned Kerry's immigrant wife. You have to regard homosexuality as immoral or wrong or shameful to even get to the beginning of the case against Kerr. Plus, it's not like she's private or in the closet. Kerry and Edwards didn't "out" her." She ran gay outreach for Coors, for pete's sake. She appears in public with her partner. Her family acknowledges this. She's running her dad's campaign! Whatever else this has to do with - and essentially, it has to do whether you approve of homosexuality or not - privacy is irrelevant. -

So, those flash polls that showed a Cheyney win against Edwards were bunk too Mike? Admit it, your boy went at best 1 for 3 and the 1 was a weak blooper single. -

You guys are aware it's not like Mary Cheyney isn't in the closet, right? Andrew Sullivan put it best.. As for the actual debate, the thing that surprised me was that Kerry killed Bush on the assault weapons ban question and seemed toughter than Bush on immigration. I mean, he flubbed the wife question, but obviously, a question like that is more important than say...the environment. Plus, the Tony Soprano quote was pretty damn good. However, Bush made the big gaffe... Here's the thing, in all three polls, Kerry won. Critically, independents went for Kerry 42 - 35 percent in the ABCNews poll. If these numbers hold, and the impression solidifies that Kerry won all three debates, Bush is in trouble. -
Voter registrations thrown out in Nevada
jesse_ewiak replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
I'm not sure, but I also guess the Aussies don't have different standards for each state. It's no big deal if you move from say Sydney to Perth. Here though, you have to reregister, make sure you're registration actually gets processed, that you aren't "accidently" labeled a felon because someone with the same name as yours comittied one, etc. I'd say just federalize the whole process, but someone would scream state's rights. -
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/na...eadlines-nation It's bad enough that Sinclair is ordering its stations to run an anti-Kerry movie produced by a Moonie Moonie apologist, but what's really bad is the "liberal media" will be quiet about it. Imagine if, say, an owner of a bunch of NBC affiliates ordered them to run "Going Upriver" or "Fahrenheit 9/11" the night before the election. A media shitstorm of epic proportions would erupt. Aside from the screeching right wingers, Howard Kurtz would write endless columns about it. They'd trot out hundreds of employees who were outraged by the decision (under cloak of anonymity if necessary) to condemn the horrible liberal bias of their affiliate owner. There would be talk of nothing else on the cable nets all the time. WE'd hear demands for "equal time" or other such nonsense. We'd hear screeching about biasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbiasbias until the election.
