Dammit! Why didn't I say that!

He does the 450 Splash and the Tumbleweed (which is one of the coolest moves ever)... I miss Flash Funk & the Funkettes.

Aren't the Falklands a principality?

I love Gimme the Prize, but I'll have to vote for Princes of the Universe.

I would say "The Last One" is the greatest episode ever. Ignignot: If you are present, simply say 'here I am' which is, of course, short for 'Here I am, rock me like a hurricane.' --- Ignignot: Square the quad-laser and behold! you have the quad-glazer. Err: I thought it was the quad-glacier! Ignignot: That's what I said, the quad-glacier. --- (taking roll call) Ignignot: Emory & Oglethorpe....we're not invited is the end of that sentence. Plutonians are teh suck. (actually says 'teh')

I think Bush should drop himself (and half of his cabinet) in favor of John McCain and whoever the hell he wants to appoint. That man rules!

Greatest Screenwriter of All-Time Tournament

after 'american graffiti', lucas abruptly stopped caring about anything resembling character, resonance or subtlety. 'star wars' is ultimately a series of set pieces, and it REALLY shows in those stretches when they're not being chased or trying to blow something up. when the film isn't on an action set piece, it's dragging. in its quiet moments, when lucas is supposed to really hit home with who these characters are and what they're fighting for, we get the bare bones of motivations and such but they never come alive like they're supposed to. he does do a rather good job of creating another world (like introducing luke on the farm looking at the sunset and things), but when the emphasis is on the characters & not the world or the action it falls flat. like the droid bargaining scene, which is a good chance to just let the characters play off each other & let us get to know them; lucas tries to do this, but it's too forced, and it gets boring. i'll withhold comment on 'the phantom menace'. See my post from above. -

I was mentioning him for Indiana Jones, not Star Wars. Of course, that isn't evident from my post, so you shall be let off the hook. -
I think your capslock key broke.

Then why didn't you vote for it. What are you, a communist?
-
Yes, and I wish Survivor followed me around all day. I'd even settle for the guy that followed that one guy around with a boombox playing Eye of the Tiger on that other commercial.

After having just listened to No Easy Way Out, I can say that it starts off pretty good and pretty hardy, but quickly declines into whining about Apollo's death. Meanwhile, Burning Heart stays strong. I put those choices on the polls because I feel they are the only standout songs that are really good (and made specifically for the movie).
-
That was the hokiest part of Rocky IV. Yeah, but you voted Burning Heart and didn't even include No Easy Way Out, so your opinion doesn't count. Sorry, no edit feature on these forums for the polls once someone has voted.

I'm not a fan of big, gaudy logos so I choose the classic Big Gold. I would like to see the return of the classic IC title the most, though.
-
I agree. Especially the Welcome Back, Kotter bit (which I still need an audio clip) and Kurt Angle's tiny cowboy hat. I was pissed when he lost the thing.

I want to see what bands you guys thought could have made it huge, but never seemed to break out for whatever reason. The one band that brought this to my mind was Survivor. What a great band, but (other than Eye of the Tiger) they were never really recognized for anything. They had a great lead singer and their sound wasn't as annoying as typical 80's hair metal bands.
-
And how could I forget... Ignignot: Behold! We have the belt of 80's supergroup Foreigner that gives us the powers of 80's supergroup Foreigner. Carl: Yeah, that's great. What is that, from the 81 tour? Yeah, I saw them at the Meadowlands...friggin' sweet. Ignignot: Silence. What's wrong, Carl? Feeling 'Cold As Ice'? (Carl begins to freeze)
-
Isn't that every Rocky movie? The man never keeps his gloves up to block the punches. He just hulks up and kills them.
-
That was the hokiest part of Rocky IV.
-
I think so, but I remember it used mainly as the credits for most of the movies.
-
The other songs that you listed aren't on the poll, but the one you referenced here is almost certainly Burning Heart.

Okay. Aaron Sorkin is a friggin' genius. The guy created two of my favorite shows ever (The West Wing & Sports Night) and wrote on the vast majority of the episodes. Astounding. Secondly, he wrote The American President & helped fix the problems with The Rock (the movie, not the wrestler). Fantastic work.
