Cortez is indeed Jésus. It's good to see Toxxic with his thired reign, although Landon's breathing down his neck. W&D are dominant, as always. Sorry for the crappy comments, but I'm pressed for time.

The SWF is in your hands now.

Pfft. That was my idea. The avoid one. Some people can't see the forest for the trees, and considering that we're attempting to get the website up right now, I think it's best not to saddle ourselves with the "Forum Fed" label.

The SWF is in your hands now.

Yeah, the community leaves a bit to be desired, but we could really use a strong presence there. We're already at a significant disadvantage not being a standard RP fed (nor a standard "angle" fed, but if you have issues with me placing the ad as an angle fed, perhaps it would be best discussed in PMs rather than by crapping on the ad... *coughToxxcough*) and by having to get guys registered to read the TSM forums, and by not having a fully operational website, because the kiddies have issues with "forum feds," and because we require a certain degree of quality that you don't find in all the RP feds, and ....

The SWF is in your hands now.

Hey, remember the last time we did one of these, and I made interesting and mildly amusing newsposts, and then only Dace ever posted? It'd be super if that didn't happen again.

    Batista: Clothes Hoss

Well, it depends what size he is. Even if no one wants it as memorabilia, he's probably at a size where guys have trouble buying off the rack. "Hot damn, Maw, I just need to get it let out around the waist!"

It's a shame to see you go, Muzz. Once I actually started reading stuff, you quickly became one of my favorite writers.

    SWF Lockdown Card 2-23-05

It clearly says "In singles competition," and has since waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before I woke up and made the edit. To argue would be stupid. You're not stupid, are you?
  12. It’s no secret that I’m a fan of this Pretzler kid. I’ve been trying to keep up with Ring of Respect since its inception a few years ago, and while some of their athletes leave a lot to be desired – those two Mexican brothers and their little buddy who can’t sell without convulsing come to mind – I think it’s a fabulous little promotion. I try to go out and see their shows whenever I get a free night. It’s also a pleasure to see him traveling with Toxxic, who’s certain to instill good habits in the youngster (and not just by keeping him from developing bad ones). Toxxic did have a bit of a rough time developing his own good habits, though. The problem, really, is that as a pure rookie he fell in with the SWF’s commonwealth of Dace Night and Aecas. It made sense, really. Not only did they share roots and thus have a lot in common, but they also really understood each other. I mean that literally – the accents made it nearly impossible for anyone to understand them but each other. But I digress. Problem was, where Dace was an anal-retentive nerd, Aecas was a bit of a ribber. Naturally, Toxxic ended up closer to Dace on the scale, but not without taking his lumps. Whenever they shared a hotel room, Toxxic would always end up sleeping in the bathtub. Veterans’ rights, they said. I’m sure Dace was able to leave him alone, but darn it, Aecas would always end up ‘sleepwalking’ and turning on the water. It would just be a slow trickle, but the towels lining the tub to give Toxxic something to sleep on stopped up the drain pretty reliably, so by the time Toxxic woke up he’d be soaked and shivering. Just stuff like that. The best, though, was the time that Aecas managed to slip something into Toxxic’s water. As some of you may know, Toxx’s straight-edge attitude isn’t just a persona. He holds to it very closely, even on the road… which made it all the more difficult to deal with when Aecas slipped him an Ambien pill somehow. I’ll never figure it out. Toxxic, not being used to the stuff, was out like a light. Well, by the time he woke up, he was late for the show. Aecas woke him up, frantic, trying to get him to the arena in time to work his match. Toxxic came through, wondering why everyone was snickering at him, but he was still in too much of a haze to figure out what was going on. Damn if Aecas hadn’t somehow managed, while he was passed out, to get him dressed in a fuzzy ferret suit. I’m not quite sure I understood it then, but, well, let’s just say that if some of the things they say about Aecas are true, I hope he was able to keep a handle on himself after he dressed Toxxic up.
  13. Okay, folks. This is when we start thinking about booking the pay-per-view. Everyone who had plans, please remind Mike of them. Everyone who had plans that have now changed, please tell Mike about them. Everyone who didn't have plans but would like to pretend they did, please inform Mike. Everyone without plans, either hook up with someone and let Mike know, or give Mike a holler to the effect that you lack plans. In summary: Everyone falls into one of the above categories. Everyone PM Mike in re From The Fire and what you're planning to do. If you need help with anything, please feel free to talk to Mike, me, Judge, and possibly Raynor and TNT, although I'm not sure how closely they've been able to follow things, or alternatively anyone else who you like to bounce ideas off of.
  14. Forgive me for this one being really weird, by the way.

    SMARKDOWN COMMENTS~!

I should point out, for the record, that I only give advice on request, and never for matches that I'm marking.

    SMARKDOWN COMMENTS~!

Pretzler's match was excellent, as was the entire angle surrounding it. Once Pretz sands off some of the rough edges, he'll easily be the second-best guy ever to have his gimmick. *hack, cough* The best guy ever to have his gimmick? Retired. *wheeze* Oh, my lumbago. Toxxic's tag match was also nice. Nothing too frilly, just a very solid story with subtleties that helped explain a win over two of the SWF's top competitors. For that, I salute him.

    The SWF's future

You know, I do the best I can with what I have. When people don't care enough about their characters to give me any guidance as to how they'd like to be booked, I just try to give them interesting opponents and keep them from seeing the same person too often. If someone's getting bored, that's a problem. It's a problem we're trying to fix by clearly differentiating the contenders for a given belt, but there's no reason people should feel as if they're resigned to the bookers' whims, even on free-TV shows. Want to do something? Tell me, for god's sake.

    The SWF's future

If the fed dies because its model is nonviable, then it will have had a good run and died after a valiant effort to stay alive. If, on the other hand, people want to do a predetermined angle that works outside the parameters of the SWF's style, they can join OAOAST. There's a reason I didn't - I don't enjoy the style. I find the predetermination takes the shine off things and the fun out of it. It's like if someone said we should go straight to RP quality and have CC write the matches, like many other feds do. It's such a radical change that it takes away from what makes the SWF what it is, and the SWF is what I'm interested in participating in.

    SWF Storm Card, 2-18-05!

A fraternity, or "frat," is a social group at American universities. Frats have a stereotypical reputation as a bunch of hard-drinking, misogynistic jock types who haze each other relentlessly. (I say "stereotypical" because Judge, for example, is the token smart guy in his fraternity.) Thus, you'll have a wild, drunken crowd, probably with copious "Show your tits" chants directed at Jet. As for looks, imagine a wrestling show at a low-budget place, like, say, a bingo hall or a firehall... some place an indy would put a show on. Smoky, dirty, so forth.

    The SWF's future

It strikes me that the above may be so blunt as to be useless for discussion. One of the reasons I enjoy being involved in the fed is because there's actual competition involved. Despite the fact that there will always be concerns of bias, I also like that generally, when you mark you're rewarding a match that's just objectively better. My SWF 'push' was incredibly rewarding because I was responsible for it, and if someone didn't want to job to me, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke. I took and took on the way up, and I can't imagine that I'd have found a string of opponents willing to give and give. I could, because I was damn good. If the model of the fed is unviable, then the model is unviable. I don't see any reason to compromise absent overwhelming opinion on the part of the writers.
  21. Ace309

    The SWF's future

That's a nice list and all. But then we wouldn't be the SWF. Personally, I hate the idea and would no longer be interested in the fed.

    WWE Married Wrestler/ Diva Affair?

You're right about the other stuff you mentioned. But as far as shaking hands goes, that IS a big deal in the wrestling business. If you walk into a locker room with the Undertaker and you completely ignore him and act like he doesn't exist, then you are one dumb little powerplant jobber. QUIT... BEING... SO... REASONABLE. There's hysteria to be had, here.
