    State of the SWF

Can we try not to turn this thread into a pissing contest, please? Under which I include responding to this post if you think you've been wronged by being accused of partaking in a pissing contest. If you think it applies to you, then there's no use arguing about it. If you don't think it applies to you, then it probably wasn't intended for you.

    A Police Question

Don't tease me, bitch. When your thread title includes "Does Anybody Know...", there should be a completion for that question somewhere in the first few lines. Otherwise, I don't know what the hell you want, considering there's no way I'm reading through a giant paragraph written conversationally.

    Losers you have encountered

http://www.prowrestling.com/discuss/ I occasionally post there in brief spurts when I get the urge to work through a certain amount of futile anger. I once got in an argument with a kid who was convinced, because a website told him so, that the Iron Sheik won a gold medal in the Olympics. When presented with lists of all the gold medalists in both styles for every Olympics for the past 40 years or so, he started a new thread to ask if the website he read was right. That sort of futile anger, where you feel like kicking the dumb dog really, really hard. I haven't posted there in maybe a month or two, and probably won't until I hit a rough spot in my classes next semester.

    Losers you have encountered

Sadly, no... I never made it out to the RoH show when it was in WNY, despite the best-laid plans. Other losers I've encountered: That guy who won tickets on the classic rock station and kept screaming for Junkyard Dog and Roddy Piper all night. Guys who act like it's major "inside" knowledge to know that a wrestler used another name somewhere else (I was guilty of this when I was younger). This guy who trolls another board I follow. All his posts are about Kevin Nash. I'm tempted to think he's a gimmick poster, but he's been posting consistently for over a year. Don't gimmick posters usually leave when the novelty wears off?

    Slay Ride Losing Matches

Well, WC, it seems that Toxxic overthought himself there. It sounds good, in theory, but... think about it this way. In amateur wrestling, sometimes when you put a really high-level competitor against a really low-level one, you get the anointed winner throwing the opponent around in very pretty, very exciting throws. Sometimes you get the plucky-young-guy-puts-up-an-unexpected-fight scenario that ends in either an underdog win or the anointed winner eking out a victory where he should have destroyed his opponent. And sometimes you get the top-level guy walking out there, calmly executing a bunch of low-risk, high-percentage moves, and scoring a by-the-books victory. One of these is physically interesting. Two are dramatically interesting. One isn't very interesting at all. Realism doesn't always make for a great match, sad to say.

    A White Christmas

Confirmed. Manhattan was supposed to get snow, but I'm not sure if they did or not.

    Losers you have encountered

The marks who make up stories to explain things that happen on TV but get "explained" behind the scenes. Austin walking out on RAW because he didn't like the angle? Not according to this guy I know. No, Austin definitely had cancer. Also the reason he started shaving his head. That sort of thing.

    Slay Ride Comments!

Well, that's more a matter of Janus translating well to Frost and my natural inability to work with more than two opposing sides.

As some of you may know, my acsu.buffalo.edu account is going to get trashed very soon. http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~tflesher/icons and http://www.acsu.buffalo.edu/~tflesher/photos are going to go boom. If anyone has webspace where we can upload the picture and icon collections, I'd fuck you till you loved me.

    Ask the New Regime!

As some of you may have picked up on, Mike Van Siclen (Chuck Woolery) and I are the new additions to the booking team, with Thoth staying on from the Zed regime in his usual slot. The rotation will be: Tom posts Lockdown, books Smarkdown MVS posts Smarkdown, books Storm Thoth posts Storm, books Lockdown MVS is the head booker and as such will be booking all pay-per-views. Any of us are, as always, available for storyline chatter and suggestions. (Helpful suggestions will run you a sawbuck.) We're also picking up Judge Mental (Powerplay) as a match marker to share the load, hopefully getting the shows and cards up more quickly than they have been. So, if there's anything you'd like to know or have clarified, please feel free to ask in the thread. I realize it's a bit redundant, since you all know me fairly well, but let's make it official.

    Ask the New Regime!

Oversight on my part. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'd love to give you one of those "reason" things, but I'm still getting broken in.

Hey, good to see you around again. Bothered reading any of our shit? My all-time favorite Bobby Riley moment, from chat: You should join Creative Control What could I do on CC? No, Creative Control the stable, not Creative Control the creative control

    Which soda is better?

It's usually found with drink mixers like tonic water and club soda. I think my current bottle is Canada Dry.
  22. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the ring… or at least, it feels like it’s been ages. Walking out after Genesis was one of the hardest things I ever did, and I have to admit that I haven’t been entirely successful in avoiding the SWF like I was planning to. This whole law school thing is hard… but how could I resist when they came to Radio City Music Hall last week? They canceled one of the Christmas Shows for it, which, for those of you who aren’t from the real capital of New York State, is a big deal. I stopped by backstage, earlier in the day, and I was happy to see all the guys in the back. I’m happy to see that Bill Hearford’s working as a road agent now, and he helped to lay out the Holy Hell match that Max King won. I’ll tell you, that King boy is doing everything right. At first, I’ll be honest, I was a little miffed that he was trying to steal my gimmick, but I’m pleased with how it’s turned out. There was one guy who wasn’t there, though, and it disappointed me not to get the chance to see Mark Stevens one more time. I thought for sure that he’d have the book for the tag division by now, or at least be sharing it with Chris Raynor (but he’s a story for another day). As it is, though, Mark’s back home with Lynn and Christopher Edward, and I’m happy for him. (It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Christopher, and honestly I’ not sure if they’ll ever let me near him again after I gave him the onion out of one of my Gibsons. What can I say? It was late, after a show, and the kid came toddling up asking for a sip. If nothing else, the taste probably turned him off gin for at least another 15 years.) Probably my favorite time with Mark was right before the Genesis match. King, Raynor and Edwin were traveling together, and Mark volunteered to go on the road with Landon and I, even though he probably would have had a better time with his Carnie buddies. Frankly, I think he just wanted his own bed, but it was still great of him to drive. Landon needed some good influence, since he’d picked up some bad habits traveling with Spike, Clark and Todd Royal. (As a side note, it’s nice to see Spike cleaning himself up. Here’s hoping he didn’t really burn a hole in his septum.) That’s what happens when you have young’ns traveling together, I guess, but I think Mark indoctrinated him fairly well. We’d get together with King, Raynor and Edwin for dinner, and then usually drinks afterward. One night, we decided to go to a place with a dance floor. Landon was a little curious, since it was the middle of the week and most of us aren’t exactly the type to go out and do the old soft-shoe, but he came along just the same. He was the designated driver that night, but he didn’t seem to notice that instead of his usual Coronas, Stevens was drinking “gin and tonic” – actually, sparkling water with lime. Edwin was, of course, out there cutting a rug, and he sidled up while I was on the floor grinding with some girl I’d never seen before. (Long story, but believe it or not I was single for most of the summer.) Well, lord knows I can’t compete with Eddie Mac, but with a couple of Gibsons in me, I’m not going to let him win without a fight. A few minutes later, with Security grinning from the sidelines, Edwin and I were shooting around a little on the floor. Of course, Landon didn’t notice, but we were just playing around. I got up, and Edwin threw one of the nicest shoteis I’ve ever seen from him. I sold it like a champ, too, staggering all the way back to the bar and… tagging in Landon. He played along nicely, going over and messing around with Edwin once he realized that we were just putting on a show. He threw a shot into Edwin’s gut, and Edwin went over and… yup, tagged in the Heavy Hitter himself. Mark stepped in and threw some nice-looking punches, then seamlessly called a setup spot. Thirty second later, he had Landon in the Seventh-Inning Stretch. And dear god, did he stretch the kid. Now, Mark’s usually not the type to shoot on a youngster, but it was all in good fun, and Landon tapped like a good little man. He didn’t try to fight his way out of it, and when Mark let him go, the whole place burst into cheers. As they headed back to the bar, Mark patted him on the shoulder and said, “And that, my friend, is why you always volunteer to buy the drinks.” Mark was on Coronas the rest of the night, courtesy Mr. Maddix.

    This is the correct answer.

    Has it gone too far?

    Eh. This thread's kinda ghey.
  25. Unfortunately, it butted up against finals, and sadly, finals > dark match.
