    MLB 06: The Show

I'm sure I know the answer already, but can you play more than one human player on the same team? With the All-Star Baseball series I was able to convince non gamers to give it a try, and it was enjoyable. I don't care to play against someone when I'd rather team up with them like all other sport games.

    Praise the Lord!!!!

Leena is closer to the mark than the people who put all the blame on him. The revolving door of free agent receivers with alligator arms, 1st round after first round WR's that have amounted to a pile of nothing with a few flashes of brilliance from Roy Williams, piss poor offensive line, lack of a consistant running game, not to mention some of the most boring, conservative playcalling in the league all contributed to the recent failure that is the Lions(also can't forget the contributions to the suck from our glorious leader Mr. Millen). That being said, I don't blame him for wanting out or the fans wanting him to go. It hasn't worked in four years, and he's shot confidence wise. A back-up role for a year or two and a chance to start eventually at a new place would give him that last chance to be something other than that weak ass QB Detroit had in the Millen era.I don't know if even a top level qb would of been able to win alot in Detroit the last few years, and Joey right now is far from that. Out of the current Qbs going foward, I guess let McCown and Kitna hash it out in the preseason and hope one of them catches fire, leading Detroit to the ever elusive 8-8 record they strive for.

Red Wings did about nothing or even a small step back today. Still one of the better teams and a legit shot at it all, but man it would of been nice to have been able to do something better than Cross and losing Rivers. Oh well, down the stretch to the playoffs now.

    Tipping at lunch

Man people are cheap. They serving you the food, you be a decent human being and tip. If they give bad service or don't do the job, don't. I'm usually about broke and I still tip whenever called for. People with office jobs going out to lunch can hack the 15% give or take.

One hell of a 4th quarter by Wade to get the Heat over the Pistons. Pistons just didn't have an answer for him down the stretch.

    The OAO Sean Hannity Thread

Nothing to do with Hannity, but on the heating thing. My energy bill in the spring/summer/fall is around 45-60 dollars with ac running. Electrical runs 20-35 all year, and gas for cooking/heating etc runs between 10-35 pending on summer/winter. In the winter months, though my electric/gas totals about 50-55$, looking at the bill my service charge goes up to 85$ a month in winter. So I end up with a bill of 150+ give or take a few dollars. I could shut the heat off if I could survive it, and due to the service fee being raised in winter Id still have to pay well over double what I do in the summer. Extra sweater my ass.

On top of his mid-range game, he has also worked on his 3-pt shooting, which used to be weak. This year thru 40 games he is shooting .491 from the 3 point line(31% career 3 point shooter before this year). Unrelated to the FG percentage but still nice, he's also at 87% from the free throw line. Just a quiet, pure shooter.

Not a whole lot has been said on Fischer in recent Detroit telecasts. He had the big press conference a while ago, and at the time had to wait a set period of weeks/months and go thru a battery of tests before they even decide if he can play again. I would assume that being the rescheduled game tonight, that the pre-game or while the game is going there will be some sort of update.
  10. I am basically in the same boat, I want to put together a new pc. I tried to google some info on it. I have the socket 478 mobo, and from what I read(and I would love to be corrected as wrong on this) they are being phased out and don't/won't be able to do the pci-express vid cards. That's the little I've learned. If someone else would chime in, I also would like to know where to go socket wise for a new mobo.

Tonights Nashville/Detroit game is the rescheduled one from the night Jiri Fisher collapsed. Interesting thing about it, the game will be a full 60 minute game with the Nashville 1-0 lead holding over from the original game.(They had played a bit over a full period the first time if I remember right).

I'm one of those who doesn't like Kobe for a few reasons. That being said, it was one hell of a display. I usually don't pull something out like this, but it seems true. If it were Jordan, it's called a will to win, .Since it's Kobe, it's being called selfish. They mentioned Duncan's planter fasciaitis when they played Detroit on ABC last week. I like Duncan, both his personality and his game, so it's quite the bummer.

    Favorite Moments in Sports

Darren McCarty's Stanley Cup Finals game winning goal in 97' going right around Niinimaa. Also the ensueing celebration at the end of the game with Yzerman holding up the cup. Barry Sanders being carried off the field after hitting 2000 yards. A little much for a celebration like that but pretty cool. Kirk Gibson's home run in 88' off of Eckersley in WS Game One. He was a favorite from Detroit and that was an all time moment anyways.

    This week in the NBA

An eye-witness(sideline reporter? I didn't catch her name) on Cold Pizza this morning said that she saw the thing develop. Seems that the fan was complaining that the player's wife kept standing up in front of him and he was complaining. A second fan said something apparently, and she was the aggressor of the argument(got in his face). The first fan had already called security to complain, so they were already there. Seems the wife was most of the problem. That said, even if a woman starts it, a man's place is to defend her, so I hope he gets little to no punishment. He was reasonably calm and cool about it, and did what had to be done without going overboard. Oh and as stated by Czech I think, I've already heard and seen about 5 references to "Malice at the Palace" already. *Edit, second witness(though some random fan from the crowd on the phone, so take it with a grain of salt)said it was a little more of a mutual arguement and by his word security wasn't there as quick as the other person said. Still alot of hand-wringing for nothing by ESPN, but that's what I get for watching them.

    Best time of year

Spring to early summer. Stanley Cup, Basketball playoffs, Baseball starts (and I can pretend the Tigers are really going to break .500 this year). Good times.

I was against the shootout when it was first brought up. As I type this I am watching the replay of the Detroit game on FSN Detroit. It's Detroit's' first shootout, and the entire crowd is standing. It ends with Osgood stonewalling Fedorov to win, and the crowd chanting Ozzy Ozzy. Some exciting stuff.

Considering Detroit has been using Chelios mostly as a Penalty Kill Specialist so he doesn't have to move much, it's gotta be a veteran/career based spot. I watch about every game of Detroit, his best defensive move (the off-hand clutch n' grab) has been eliminated, so if he has to try and cover open ice, his 42 year old or so legs just aren't cutting it. I can't imagine it's going to be better in international play. As pointed out also, goal tending is going to be suspect. DiPietro is the only one I have any faith in being able to hold out. Esche is, well eh. And Grahame just exudes "back-up", there wasn't anyone better?( On looking up his stats afterwords, I see his ga is down to 2.89, with .89 save percent, guess it could be worse.)

    Duke The Dog

I can't track down the origin, but a quote I found from Mustaine says James kicked his dog. http://megadeth.rockmetal.art.pl/related_metallica.html Could be false, don't know where the original quote came from. Carry on.

Well, Ovechkin was just about as advertised. Goal and an assist, and he laid out two different Wings with good clean checks. One was a defensemen that had 20 lbs on him. Quite impressive. Wings still won, and even in the win the slight softness of Detroit was in effect. Holland has been good with trades in getting what the coach wanted for the most part. The in-between period interviews with the assistant coaches, toughness, grit and checking has been a reoccurring theme desired all year so far. Still a lot of time to find the grit needed, and there a far worse problems they could have.

My first chance to see a full game of Ovechkin tonight( I curse my current coverage). Hopefully he puts on a decent show. And though I'm a bit late to comment on it, I agree, Fuck Roenick.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

One of my favorite things about this game, is being able to "power-up" tag team/stables. It's a nice touch, in that you can have a tag team who teams alot together better than two superior wrestlers tagging for a match.

Does anyone like actually going to the games?

Depends on the sport. A Detroit Tiger game, if you pick the right game you can get a seat that's away from the biggest groups of people(positive product of a terrible team). Red Wings games for the most part rule, and the fans are die-hards and somewhat knowledgeable (at least in the upper sections where I get stuck). Haven't been to a college or pro football game in quite a while, but part of that is due to the fans, especially as they get hammered and if the Lions are losing. Never been to a pro/college basketball game. I have to add that some of the most fun I have is at minor league hockey games.
