The Torch posts Best Ever Mania card...

Vince still has a vendetta deep down for the legends who almost put him out of the business during the war. It explains a lot of things that have been booked in the last few years. Savage is rumoured to be blackballed for a reason only Vince knows. Savage vs. Cena was on the mouths of a lot of people who wanted it for Mania XX. The big question is...would Savage ask for 5 million for the match and bring down 50 cent to shoot on Cena Rock actually wanted a match with Savage, but Vince told him NO! *Reportedly****by the respectable net writers

    Canadian WWE Farm system

I kind of liked the rumour that had Vince buying the Hart mansion and using it as a training school. Of course, we know the problems there don't we? Anyways, Vince's "schools" have not actually pushed out any legends like Austin, Flair, or Hogan has it? Brock and Angle are good, but don't have anything on the old school students from the Pipers to Shawn Michaels. Of course, I am overlooking that great prospect Nidia aren't I?

You mean The American Dream vs. The American Badass would be an American nightmare? How the hell did Dusty get on this list anyways. His WM claim to fame is winning a forgettable mixed tag match.
  5. Well, at least they are not having Kurt Angle go off about how he shouldn't be WWE Champion because he'll just fall off the wagon again. That should help a little. Blame JBL for this Then again he has stopped with the racist attacks on Eddie as well. He was all fine earlier this year before all that crap started no?

True what you are saying. Do you think that would make a match between Angle and HBK come off as a disappointment. I mean we could get WM 12 complications with both men not really selling properly for the other. Interesting, as I think that is why I feel HBK or Angle against Flair would not be as good as some expect.

Is Smackdown catching up with Raw?

The wwe needs you on their marketing team pronto! Smackdown kicked tail right up until WM XX. Then the great JBL push took over(in truth he is improving, but hell could he have got any worse?). Remember stuff like the tv Royal Rumble? At least they had an excuse with losing talent in the ring like Angle and Lesnar(Big Show too regardless of smark hate). Sure, Trips gets the title back and things are becoming quite drag. Coincidence? Sure, Deadman Taker comes back on smackdown and the show becomes quite a drag? Coincidence? Well, Trips started to hog all the spotlight starting with Eugene and they have not turned back since. Taker started to grab all the attention from his squashing of Booker T and they have not turned back since. Coincidence? Nah, can't be.

at the idea that Angle would "bring" the best out of BRET HART or that Bret would need Angle to hide his "weaknesses." Have they got that COMPLETELY backwards or what? I think it's been chronicled that Keller is not a big fan of Bret Hart, but loves Flair and HBK. I mean for him to say Bret's best matches were with HBK instead of Austin is retarded. With that said, I don't think Angle's prime even rivals HBK's or Austin ringwise. No need to even compare characters as there's no comparison. I do however believe Kurt Angle being included in the 1997 "angle" would have been something that could have made Angle into a star on the levels of Rock and Austin. I mean he just came out of the Olympics and the tide was turning on what pro wrestling fans in America wanted. If Angle came in seasoned or in the form he had in 2002 Angle could very well be the big star now that they desperately need. The wwe could then run Austin vs. Angle in an old school American values vs. new school American values. Angle of 2002 in 1997-1999 would have been something. I'm still waiting to see Angle/HBK while the two men can at least still go somewhat.

Vince has put us on the Blackballed list. I mean he has prevented us from entering the ever so enticing WWE fantasy draft. Plus, he is probably laughing at Bret and Montreal right now.

I don't think you understand quite how this company works. Doing something like that, you see, would be doing what the fans want. Don't forget be something that serves to show this "billion dollar company" to have any sanity Again, WHY! I'm still with the wait and see approach with this company and its "can't miss" ventures. I mean let's not forget the list of casualties over the years shall we.

I agree about booking the 1990-91 form Steiners. You got a point with the pro-British crowd maybe pulling a Toronto on The Steiners to kill the match. However, I got a solution! You have the 2000/2001 character of Big Poppa Pump and the Dog Faced Gremlin be the sympathetic brother who is abused by Scott. You pull off something like Bret/Bulldog at SummerSlam where the outsider still comes out as a full face. They pulled a similar trick with Warrior/Savage at the same event. As for Hogan and LA, he was really over in the area with his Venice Beach background. Hogan headlined two Mania events in the area within 5 years. That is why Vince had good reason to feel Hogan would help smash the North American attendance record at the LA Coliseum. I think the big problem was that they did it a year too late. Hogan/Warrior could have possibly helped at least rival the WM 3 record. As for Austin, we all know LA's fascination with anti-heroes and men wearing black and silver. You see, you just got to work with the talent and marketing creative team like back in the day. Damn, I think I would actually add Roddy Piper to the event. I suppose he would be put into the Elimination Chamber match and be in the final against Taker. Yeah, that's it. Piper of 1985 against Taker of 1998. That's a disrespect to the true heel pioneer of the event not including him above. Okay..... Undertaker(1998 WM 14) vs. Roddy Piper(WM 1 heel form) vs. Paul Orndorff (WM 1 1985 form)vs. Triple H(WM 2000) vs. Mankind(1998 hell in a cell form)

    Major Miscommunications With RAW

I think the biggest thing in all of this is WHY as stated in posts. Why does the wwe seem to do boneheaded things and CONTINUOUSLY do it. Now, this is not to say I was in the least bit offended by the comment by Kane because honestly it did not cross my mind with Owen(then again I wasn't paying all that attention and didn't even realize they were in the same arena as Owen's death), but to have that line said would obviously draw attention to SOME fans. It was just boneheaded to do. Hmmm....failed writers come to Vince's company. You would think Vince would get a clue. Damn, I got to admit I didn't even realize the irony all this time. Kudos to the amazing one.

I only have it there because of the Coliseum. I was actually going to pick SilverDome, but felt I had to break that legend for this to be Ultimate.

Ah, I'm bored. Here is what I would do for Ultimate WrestleMania that would actually appeal to the masses and break records. From 3 Different Locations and 3 Different Countries Triple Threat Main Event United States Los Angeles Coliseum WWF World Heavyweight Championship Vince gets the record breaking crowd he promised fans in 1991 Main Event Hulk Hogan (WM III popularity peak and WM 5 physical peak) vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (WM 15 popularity peak WM 13 physical peak) This would make Rock/Hogan look like a Brooklyn Brawler vs. Red Rooster. Book as RavishingRickRudo says and yes I would have Hogan go over. The storyline and promotion of the match would simply be "Biggest Match of All-time". Canada Toronto SkyDome Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship Breaks the Canadian crowd record of Big Event in 1986 with over 75,000 fans Kurt Angle(2002 version) vs. Bret "Hitman" Hart (WM 10 form/WM 13 popularity) Bret Hart goes over in Canada The storyline would be Bret's storyline in the summer of 1996 with Angle playing the role of Austin. Great Britian Wembley Stadium Breaking the wwe record World Tag Team Championship The British Bulldogs (WM 2 form) vs. The Steiners (1989 form) This would be some revolutionary tag team wrestling. Bring in people like Stu Hart and the coaches of the Steiners in a battle of US wrestling against Stu Hart trained English wrestlers. Personally, I would have Bulldogs go over. Rest of the card "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels (1996 WM 12 form/ 1998 edge*character) vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat (WM 3 popularity peak and 1989 form) Okay, let's have them re-do the Flair/Steamboat type storyline of 1989 in wwf pizzaz. The storyline can even be HBK trying to hit on Steamboat's wife. I suppose the face would go over here. The Rock (WM 16 popularity and form) vs. The Nature Boy Ric Flair (1989 form) This is a dream match. I would run a simple storyline of Nature Boy attacking Rocky Johnson and The Rock wanting revenge. Again, I would have the face Rock go over although he would probably job. Send the fans home happy and keep the fans hype throughout the show. Big Show vs. Andre The Giant I agree with this match simply because of the larger than life aura it would add to this "Ultimate WrestleMania" for the average Joe. However, it would have to be with the restrictions Keller stated. Ultimate Warrior (WM 6 popularity, but SummerSlam 1989 form) vs. Brock Lesnar (SummerSlam 2002 "popularity"/ No Way Out 2004 form) I know this won't be popular here, but I think this match would have people's interest. Say what you will about Warrior, but the guy was SUPER over in 1989 and 1990. The storyline here would be Brock trying to run through the runaway train Ultimate Warrior in a battle of the titans. "Macho Man" Randy Savage(1987 WM 3 form and popularity) vs. Chris Benoit (WM XX popularity and WM 17 form) The storyline would be Savage simply attacking Benoit because of hate. The KISS theory here. Eddie Guerrero (WM XX popularity/character and WM 17 form) vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts (WM 3 popularity and WM 8 character) Simply "Trust Me" vs. "lie, cheat, and steal". Simply the DDT vs. The Frogsplash Survivor Series Elimination Chamber Match Put all other top guys I missed with Undertaker coming out on top to keep his record. I would keep it at 10 matches for the "perfect" 10.

    Something that's been bugging me

Wrestling isn't about looking like "a real fight", and it hasn't been about that ever since the first guy got Irish whipped into the ropes and bounced back. Tell Kevin Nash that as that is where I believe curry_man got that idea from. Nash stated this on the A and E special. Of course, what the hell does the man who booked wcw to hell know Besides, I think Kayfabe would have a little disagreement with you about this. I heard she is Ric Flair's ex-girl with an attitude about internet fanboys.

  19. Damn! I thought this thread was going to have everyone start with "I stopped reading". Thanks a lot bud Ban this man for lack of humour(yes with a u).
  20. This is where I stopped reading. Yep, because we all know how much the masses is craving to see face Triple H win another world title in the main event of WrestleMania. I mean we couldn't stop the mass hysteria of Triple H winning the gold at WM 18 where it is arguable fans wanted him to be a face returning from injury to get back the belt.

Why is it I can watch crappy wrestling

This quote says it all along with what Loss said. It even goes further than this. The wrestler's growth is also rushed. To illustrate what I mean I'll explain. Let's look at 2002 where the new crop of guys like Orton, Lesnar, and even throw in Angle came aboard. If the wwe used the 80's formula with Brock Lesnar AND Lesnar had gone through the territories I truly believe Lesnar would have got the chance to live up to The Next Big Thing and possibly could have exploded. If Lesnar was displayed on the national scene before Vince picked him up in a simlar fashion that he was pushed originally and Vince "stole" him from the competition like he did with Hogan in 1984 and THEN ran Lesnar bumrushing the roster within six months to win the title he would have been WAY MUCH MORE OVER. I say Lesnar really started to come into his own last fall where he seemed to belong in the main event scene. Imagine Vince had picked up Lesnar last fall and then run the exact same kind of angle he did with Lesnar in 2002 and have Lesnar be crowned champion at WM XX this year? The fans would be more willing to eat it up. He would be seasoned to go roughshod over legends like Rock and Hogan and then destroy Bill Goldberg at WM XX for the strap where fans would accept it. It kind of worked in 2002 with Rock, but it still had the vibe of being forced down our throats because he was not truly ready to match the hype. The same thing with Kurt Angle. They gave him his proper push BEFORE he was ready for it and it sort of damaged him. Suppose Angle came in late 2001 and 2002 seasoned as he was and THEN Vince ran the storyline he gave him in his first year? Angle would have been accepted much more by the masses and the hype would match the push. That is the big difference back then compared to now. When stuff like champion vs. champion/title for title(the two strongest forces in the universe collide) or The Mega-Powers Explode happened the hype and storyline matched the level of match and superstar draw that accmpanied it. Right now they are putting the horse before the carriage for the most part and putting a mark on the wrestlers as being over-pushed or shoved down our throats. The Rock is the exception to this, BUT when he returned in 1997 after the injury and push from hell he DID improve and started to match the hype. The wwe are telling stories the fans aren't buying for the most part imo. Having a good match is one thing, but overhyping it and its relevance is another. It has to make people CARE.

    Kurt Angle Interview

I don't know if he is kayfabing in this interview, but I don't really remember him being kayfabe friendly when doing these type of interviews. He usually grates me how much he exposes stuff in his interviews. I suppose he has learned to go in and out of kayfabe like a seasoned pro now. In his earlier years he came off really dorky and star struck of wwe.

    More politics and power struggles

For all the things people have hated Vince Mcmahon for in the past his replacement will have a hard time surpassing what he accomplished. Let's see what would have to be accomplished to one up Vince Mcmahon. Actually have WrestleMania remain the household powerhouse brand name associated on the levels of a superbowl or world series. Vince has somewhat tried to increase its value with the annual raw vs. smackdown idea. Just run through your minds all the great moments/matches of Mania. The next big obstacle besides keeping the legend of Mania strong would be creating superstars in the form of Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and The Rock. Actually winning a war with other wrestling companies throughout the last 20 years to EARN his place as the leader of the last surviving mainstream wrestling/sports entertainment company in North America. Getting the product on a major network such as NBC. Breaking his tv rating records. Trying to smash the attendance records of events like WM 3, The Big Event in Toronto, SummerSlam 1992, and WM 17. Creating concepts like the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series as staples of the business. The creation of gimmick matches like Hell in a Cell and the Elimination Chamber. Yes, I know nwa/wcw had the similar concepts, but you know the company will play it off like Vince took the ideas to a higher level. Someone will have some really big shoes to fill here and unless they are passionate to top this I can't see how the product will be that much improved if at all.

Don't worry, I'm sure Vince would work his death somehow. He will avoid it just like the court tribulations a decade ago. Just like the war with wcw on monday nights.
