How come people forgot HHH in the role of superman returning on raw after defying DEATH within 7 DAYS?
-
I forgot about the wedding thing tonight. There goes Orton's big time to shine

Let's welcome Bruce from Connecticut ... So what you guys are saying is ... Taboo Tuesday is going to be great TV? Basically, LiveWire was trying to be a show where fans can ask "behind the scenes" questions. However, anytime someone really started to ask smarkish questions Vince and company would cut the person off. It was silly because the show's intention didn't happen. It started off supposedly as a shoot show then turned to worked shoot then just turned into WWE Experience. I don't know how the wwe would also plan on doing things on the fly without wrecking storylines. I smell LiveWire all over this and they are going to use this angle to persuade people to buy this ppv on Tuesday instead of giving away a money match.

When you're praising and touting your tape library and past events more than your current product, that is a problem. Also, does anyone know when their contract with Spike expires? If I had to take a guess, it would probably expire in September. IIRC, they switched over to the then-New TNN in Sept. 2000. Sept. 2004 would mark the end of a four-year deal. That might explain why they wanted to get this Evolution break up done so soon. I don't think it would sit too well in contract negotiations with ratings just hovering at around the 3.0 mark when they signed the deal they were in the 6's. It won't look good in negotiating a new contract with ratings hovering around the 3 mark. When they signed the deal raw was getting 6's. Maybe that was another reason for the draft lottery and bringing over Benoit.

I smell another LiveWire here with this Taboo Tuesday ppv. We know how well that went.

Rebuttal: Disagreed. Benoit will be a permanent fixture in the midcard by February. He'll bounce around the mid card - upper midcard until then. Rebuttal: He'll be in a tag team with Chris Jericho against La Resistance by the time WM 21 rolls around
-
It's true everyone has to job sometime, but the man lost to JEFF HARDY A MONTH BEFORE BECOMING WWF CHAMPION. Now that is S.T.U.P.I.D.
-
Rebuttal: Orton/Cena has more chance of being like HHH/Rock than Austin/Rock. Austin/Rock is the Hogan/Savage of the attitude era. Rock is Savage to Austin's Hogan.
-
Rebuttal: JBL is on some Sgt. Slaughter cheap heat in Vince's own mind and is helping to tank smackdown. JBL IS offering what Vince Mcmahon could ever do because he is playing a wrestler version of Vince Mcmahon which is why he is still champion. Vince is vicariously living his dream of a successful wwe champion through Bradshaw. Rebuttal: How dare anyone say JBL is the worst champion since the 1985 version of Hulk Hogan. I would take that champion and his feuds over JBL/Taker and JBL/Mexico champ matches any day of the week.

Austin's heel turn does count imo. That thing was a flop for the most part when you consider they probably thought Austin would get heel heat like Hogan did for post Bash at the Beach. How come no one has brought up the last wrestling album? I might have to throw in Brock Lesnar the Next Big Thing who just up and left and besides he wasn't doing that much mainstream damage for what they must have thought he would do. He wasn't Diesel levels of flop though. The Mcmahon family feud has flopped as well post WM 16 and that's why they are nowhere to be seen on tv today. Oh yeah, I put that whole New Generation vs. old generation(Huckster and Nacho Man) angle campaign on the list too. Vince got his tail handed to him when Bischoff turned it around for the nWo angle.

Angle IS over-rated, but he is good. I find the ironic thing about Kurt Angle is that maybe just maybe Randy Orton is actually more ready to carry the world title than Angle was in his first. That may get me some flames, but honestly look at Kurt Angle's first reign and the reason he probably got the title. Look at his body of work before getting the strap as well. Jericho imo actually deserved the title more at the time and I even say Jericho is over-rated. Angle's storyline of going undefeated and winning all those championship in his rookie year has blurred some people imo. That was all storyline, but look at his actual work at the time. I believe Kurt Angle came into his own in 2002 and that was the real time he was ready for the big gold. Flair is over-rated simply because the hype is so out there for the guy it's hard to live up to that. However, the way I see it is this. If you brought the 1989 Ric Flair into the wwe today he would hands down be the top guy. The problem with Flair is he did hang on too long nad if you combine all of his work then his legacy is dragged down. He has been pretty insignificant in the big picture ever since Hogan jumped to wcw imo. Compare his legend before that time and you will see Flair had a stronger legacy.
-
Actually, there were rumours that Austin vs. Vince was going to headline WM 15 around the fall of 98. That would have been so stupid imo.
-
I think those who state that Angle being political/protected NOW is senseless are right. Angle is not going to get any more over than he is now and I think it has to do with how he was booked in 2001-2002 as a goof. Too bad Angle wasn't as smart to the business then as he is now. Angle/Taker really makes no sense when you consider the stuff Angle has done against Eddie and Cena. That is why perhaps UT wants things to be two winning streaks colliding at Mania 21. There is really no long term backstory here like the Orton/HHH match would have. The story is in either Cena or Eddie avenging Angle. Maybe that should be the main event of Mania 21. However, if I was booking this I wouldn't have Angle OR Taker in the title match at all(a backup plan yes). Pit HBK with Angle. I find it very strange Angle does not lobby for a match against HBK if he is really trying to go down in the history books as the greatest. He might be insecure against HBK maybe I think. Even not wanting to face Flair is odd, but challenging Bret Hart? Benoit/Angle is also a good choice and back-up plan. Austin DID put over people in his heel turn. Look at his matches with Kurt Angle. Austin put over Kurt Angle, but they screwed it up by making him Stone Cold Kurt(one example of where Angle should have been smart). Look at his match with Chris Benoit in Edmonton. You don't have to job to put someone over and Austin is the prime example with his job to Hart at WM 13. Undertaker has never put anyone over except Brock Lesnar without getting his job back or something. Even with Brock it was rumoured he was going to get the assignment that Booker T got with Taker post Mania XX. I understand the whole dead man aura and everything, but when you got even HHH jobbing for you it's an accomplishment(and I know booking wise that was the better move, but says it all with how strong Taker is built).

Many Feel Triple H Pushed For Rushed Orton Turn
Promoter replied to claydude14's topic in The WWE Folder
This is dumb. Why wouldn't Triple H just put the title back around his waist by going over Benoit instead. The man who took the title away from him? 411 has really fallen from '98 with the increase of hack writers. -
You are correct, but you must have not seen Andre at his youthful best. Big Show is no Andre The Giant. You need to see his heeldom as Monster Rousimoff and his matches with guys like Stan Hansen. Big Show has never had matches like that. His Japan work had much more workrate to it. Here is an interesting excerpt from an Andre bio that can be found at the link below: www.wrestleline.com/columns/circa/circa052600.shtml "In his formative years in Montreal, Andre grappled with the likes of Butcher Vachon and Don Leo Jonathan, whom Andre is said to have particularly enjoyed working with because of his own size and ability. Along side Carpentier, Andre soon learned to work a very good match for a man of his immense frame. It was not uncommon to see Andre use ring psychology - such as wearing down his opponent's legs - or using moves like the body scissors or a surprise dropkick. With unprecedented size, impressive strength and deceiving wrestling ability, promoters and fans knew they were looking at a major star. When Vince McMahon, Jr. took the reigns of the WWF in 1982, Andre was still a major babyface for the promotion. His act had remarkable staying power. Unfortunately, his physical health was about to decline rapidly. Andre was quite literally the closest thing to a real-life giant a person could ever be - he suffered from the disease acromegaly, or "Giantism," which caused his body to constantly produce growth hormones. Andre could not stop growing in the head, hands, feet or chest. He was visibly falling out of good health, and he became less mobile in the ring. Never a quitter, Andre continued working for the rest of the decade."

I can't believe all the disrespect here for the rematch of JBL/Taker. What happened to respecting these two veterans instead of dissing them like the Toronto crowd did?
-
This looks badass. Champ vs. Champ at Mania XX can't wait. How in the world did this get screwed up the way it did in MSG?
-
Did anyone like the new generation championship belt spotlight they use to shine on the mat before the match started? Maybe they can do that again.
-
You guys are hilarious here and also bloody right(if Meltzer is right about this). What the hell is Angle/Taker actually lobbying for the main event of Mania 21 for? Yeah, so Angle who is fragile is going to be depended upon to lead smackdown with UT. That's smart I'm not one to usually bash Kurt Angle, but the guy is OBVIOUSLY scared of losing his position and being an asshole about it. So, let's see. Kurt Angle has lost 2 times in a row for the championship at Mania and we got UT who has NEVER lost at a Mania. Who do they think fans will believe will win that one? Angle has no business going over Taker at Mania at this point which I doubt will happen anyways. Maybe Brock Lesnar knew when to get out. I blame Vince Mcmahon for the Eddie problems. The guy was over as champion and business started to pick up and then they kill the guy's heat by putting him against Bradshaw AND LOSING. Not including dismantling smackdown and bolstering raw during the draft lottery. Having some of the most stupid gimmicks and storylines since 1995(Bearer dying). I said in my predictions that Eddie should have gone over Angle at SummerSlam to get back all the heat he lost through the summer because of Angle screwing him and losing to a mid-card tag guy. Now the ratings are worse than ever. How is having Eddie a guy who was the top face a few months back losing all the time good? So, what exactly are they planning on doing with John Cena? Maybe just maybe his character is the way it is because they don't want him to stay over. I don't know this whole smackdown side seems very ridiculous. Cena should be considered to build the brand around imo. Taker and Angle should be putting people over instead of doing the exact opposite.

The wwe is going to have Tough Enough again this year and the winner is going to get a cool million dollars. WOW! Vince is crazy unless he gets some true tough as nails athletes to come out. I can see Holly being all crockety about this. The thing is it's going to be covered like the Diva Search thing was for raw, but on smackdown.
-
IMO, those numbers are atrocious, yet I can see how they see it as a success. Yes, combined it would beat having only one ppv for the month, but I disagree with a sucker born every minute motto. The wwe got away with it this time because it was new and not drum into people's head that both brands have monthly ppv shows now. I guarantee if they take this route things will only get worse They did a title change for smackdown with the rematch. They gave away the singles rematch with Triple H/Benoit and also supposedly had the final fight between HHH and HBK in a cell(who have been feuding for two years). It will be surprising to see what SummerSlam does and if it gets something similar to the buy rate for the off months(which I'm guessing it might with the casual interest low). I think it's still too much and it over-exposes things. I think the ratings say it all. These numbers are almost rock bottom as it is. I think it was easier to book HHH as the face, but not the better option. HHH imo shouldn't end up going over or the whole Orton project is a waste of time. He will hit the glass ceiling as everyone else on raw has in the last two years. Benoit somehow avoided this, but as we see he was not booked above Evolution. In fact he just furthered Evolution's storyline.
-
Yet, Vince picks LA for WM 21. Well, at least we got a chance to smoke the Hate Toronto thread with that crowd Better yet maybe Vince should just fly Toronto fans to LA for the show. If Rock's at the show I would love to see the you sold out chants in hollywood.
-
That is exactly what I thought they were going to do. Silly me. WWE is still a lame name I say. I guess it's said than done. What name would some of you guys come up with? I wondered why the wwf just didn't go with wwfe(which is what it was called really) or even go back to World Wide Wrestling Federation. If it's legal I would have done that just to screw with the Pandas.
-
I'm going to have to agree with the HHH thing. He is obviously being built as a heel for now. What could they possibly do to have Orton turn back heel and then Triple H turn face? I think it's a recipe for disaster having Trips as a face myself. He is just generally not that likeable of a person to the audience. He gets cheers out of respect or if his opponent sucks/lower than him in the eyes of the fans. As for the Marvel issue sometimes I wish the law can just use COMMON SENSE. Who really confuses Hulk Hogan and the Incredible Hulk? Kids today for sure as hell aren't that dumb to confuse and which sane adult would mix the two. Of course, I was thinking the same thing with the wwf initials and look where that got Vincent. Speaking of Vince how many times is Flair going to kiss his buttocks? Geez!
