Well, it seems that any shot that Kentucky had to make the Tournament at this point is pretty much over, unless they beat UTK and make a run in the SEC Tournament to the finals. And that's assuming that they don't blow the upcoming game to LSU, whose RPI sits at a fat 220. They lose that, they'll need to almost certainly win the tournament.
-
Boston College is going to pull yet another Boston College. Get a good lead on a superior opponent by playing to their potential, only to blow it in the second half.
-
That's just hilarious. Especially when you consider that the Fat F*ck that coaches the Billikens (Majerus) has supposedly gone on record to say that he is not a fan of the A-10. Especially its TV contract. I think he needs to win the Conference, or at least get an At-Large Bid from the A-10, before he bitches. Also, in what could be good or bad news...St. Louis plays Dayton, next.
-
And the LOLs continue in OOC play. The Robert Morris Colonials (Not the George Washington ones), beat Boston College 57 - 51. They were in the high 100s of RPI when the game took place. Now they're 147. BC is 94, btw.

Interesting first week of the New Year. Escpecially yesterday's Big East and ACC matchups. Villanova saved its status in the Ap Ranking by beating Pittsburgh off a 2 made Free Throws and a botched drive to the hoop in the end by Pitt. UNC beat Clemson in OT off a Three Pointer by Ellington. Lets just hope this isn't the beginning of the same problem that plagued Clemson last year (Blowing by its OOC schedule off to an amazing start, only to go 4-11 in its last 15.) As far as the Valley goes...A very interesting change of the guard this year. It could be Drake (fucking Drake, btw) that waves the Valley's Banner this year. They need to keep winning and avoid losing to the Valley's Dregs (especially Evansville) if they want a shot at an At-Large. Bracket Busters, Illinois State and Creighton will all be huge games for the Bulldogs. Edit: On another note, I was hoping UNC would lose, so the real Number 1 (Memphis), can take the spot it deserves.

And now we are into the last month of the year, and that equals more College Hoops. The curtain falls on the Pre-Season Tournaments until the Holiday Weeks, and now focuses on teams building at large and seeding profiles with some of the most powerful teams locking horns. Well, since the 1st is over, and we had 2 great games with one of them having a finish for the ages. Gonzaga beat UConn to end a brutal road stretch and Providence blew a huge lead only to come back to win the game in OT after scoring 14 unanswered points to tie and go ahead. Tonight's big matchup is going to be Texas Vs. UCLA. It should be a great game. -------------------------------------- And here are the current Top 25's AP Top 25 1. North Carolina (28) 5-0 1,736 2. UCLA (25) 6-0 1,727 3. Memphis (18) 5-0 1,689 4. Kansas 5-0 1,577 5. Georgetown (1) 3-0 1,536 6. Washington State 6-0 1,360 7. Duke 6-0 1,353 8. Texas 5-0 1,240 9. Texas A&M 6-0 1,163 10. That would be the worst hire in all of sports. Worse than any the Knicks have made in this decade. I'm dead fucking serious.
-
And the A-10 Strikes again. URI beat Syracuse tonight 91-89 in the Carrier Dome. Seems like this year may be an A-10 Revival.
-
I was watching that game, myself. It was so frustrating to see Nova losing to a team that they should beat. So much so, that I stopped watching, and called it a night, thinking that Nova lost. Lo and behold....Nova won the game. Great victory for Jay Wright's team, if you ask me.
-
You know, I've never gotten that, AT ALL! Why does I-AA/FCS look down on certain Conferences like the Pioneer, etc? It's always baffled me. Good thing they're talking about expanding the playoffs on that level. Hopefully, it'll go towards being truly inclusive where everyone gets a fair shot at the National Title for I-AA Schools. The I-AA Playoff, while it has its problems (The CAA really didn't deserve 5 teams), is still a lot better than the system I-A/FBS goes by. Hopefully we'll see a REAL national Champion crowned in our lifetimes. I personally don't want to be 51 (25 years from now), and not watching I-A football at all, due to Bullcrap Postseason.
-
And so did Arizona State....Illinois?!? IllifuckingNois!?!?!?
-
Edit- The Championship game should be Hawaii v. Ohio State. An undefeated team should have a shot at the Sears Trophy no matter how "good" a conference is perceived to be (SEC, i'm looking at you). I agree with this line of thinking. Great Vote.
-
Okay, I fucking lied when I said I was done. I just had to post a reply to this. This is not fun. None of this is fun. It's not fun having this same goddamn debate when there are three or more teams who pretty much have the same profile. It's not fun having people rally for bowls on ESPN (Mack Brown can still kiss my ass.) And its not fun having homers vote for teams who don't deserve to be in the Top 25 (Here's looking at you Arkansas and Auburn) for whatever reason. The Bowl system sucks balls. Always has, and will continue to as long as it crowns a National Champion. There is no other organized league sport in the modern world that has such a crap system tell us who we should recognize as the Champion. And as long as Division I-A/FCS/Bullshit Championship System doesn't institute a playoff, it's as legit as Professional Wrestling. Sorry for the rant, guys. But I had to get it out.

I'm done with this circus. Time for some Basketball.

You're asking for something that is less likely than the Knicks winning a NBA Title in the next decade. If WVU decides to play up to the level they played to yesterday afternoon, it's going to be a 70-10 affair.
-
Walking, lets be honest here. Who is going to have a chance to beat West Virginia? Especially when they don't turnover the ball?
-
No. Hawaii won't make the title game unless everyone above them loses their last 2 games. It's not even possible at this juncture.
-
Well, it seems that Memphis literally gave Arkansas a shit kicking that'll remember for a long time. 84 - 63 in a game that never seemed close at all. Also the upset bug has hit again. #12 Oregon has lost to St. Mary's 99 - 87 Plus UCLA has completed the comeback, and is tied 58 all.
-
Let me just clarify one point. If Missouri passes West Virginia and they're in the title game along with LSU, the right two teams would've gotten in all things considered. (And this is coming from one of the biggest BCS haters on this forum.) Should they both win out, Missouri has the better loss as Oklahoma looks better than South Florida at this juncture. (escpecially if they beat them in the Championship game) This isn't saying USF isn't a very good team (cause they are), Oklahoma just had a better season.
-
Taking this from last week's thread. It's what you think it is, dude. It's our friends in the media who have taken the "anyone but West Virginia" in the title game stance. Arizona State and UConn will be some writers (and Kirk Herbstret) favorite teams this weekend to get rid of the Moutaineer problem. And if WVU beats UConn, watch Lee Corzo, or Herbstret pick Pitt to upset WVU in the backyard brawl.
-
Now I'm just curious. Did you misquote here, or did you leave the Big East out on purpose?
-
Last night was one of the first big College Hoops nights. Here are some results. #21 NC State killed Will & Mary 66 - 47 #19 Pittsburgh makes Miss Valley State their bitch with a 78 - 45 knockout blow #5 Georgetown shellacks Michigan 74 - 52 #4 Kansas destroys a Division II pansy (and hopefully their #1 Seed Chances) Washburn 92 - 60 #20 Stanford pulls out the win aganist Northwestern 71 - 60 And in Tournament Action Coaches Vs Cancer #3 Memphis gets passed Oklahoma 63 - 53 UConn beats The Wildcat Killers (Gardner-Webb) 78 - 66 Top of the World Classic Tennessee State beats Alaska-Fairbanks 78 - 64 Colorado State beats Oregon State 69 - 56 ESPN U: Puerto Rico Tip-Off VCU pulls one in the last minute over Houston 73 - 72 Providence over Temple 66 - 64 Miami (Florida) blows out Marist 85 - 61 #18 Arkansas destroys Charleston 75 - 49

Okay, Fuck it. I'm going to go on record and say it now. Kansas Vs West Virginia: Your BCS Title Game, folks. Of course I may be wrong, and I full well expect to be. But if I'm right, you heard it here first. And yes, I know about LSU, and I full well think LSU is going to lose again.

I got the game yesterday, and it kicks total ass! Here are a few impressions I posted on my LJ + Amazing Graphics. Best looking Contra since, The Alien Wars. + Dead Spot on Control. Escpecially if you're on a DS Fat or if you're used to Contra already + Weapons can be upgraded + Retains Contra feel. This is the real sequel to Alien Wars Folks. (Hard Corps is a side story) + Boss Battles that will make you piss your pants in awesome gratitude. + Base 3D Levels kick an inordinate amount of ass + Game is Hard as hell, even on Easy. Okay, now let me say something here, and if its hurts a few of you guys, well, tough shit. Contra is not meant to be Easy. Never has been, it's going to be, never will be. Contra 4 is a throwback to the first 4 Contras in terms of difficulty. In fact, I haven't played a game this hard since the Saturn Days. And I was expecting it, too. Now I understand that this game may be too hard for some people, and that's okay. So I'm warning you all in advance. If you don't think you can handle Contra 4, then don't bother buying it. But if you're going to get this game, and then complain about the difficulty save the world your whining, and move onto something else. + Save Mode is included, but not without a price: Yes, you can save your game if you're on the go, and need to, but it comes with a few rules. 1) You start at the beginning of the level 2) You lose all of your weapons and their upgrades 3) It costs a continue. In other words, peeps: Save with caution. It sometimes isn't worth it. (And yes, this is a plus, because this is Contra, the game is not meant to be easy. Learn how to use the saves, get on with your life, and shoot some Alien Scum.) -/+ Dual Screen adds new strategy, but not without some flaws: One of the features of this game is dual Screen, and one of the biggest concerns is the gap. Now in theory, being careful and looking at both screens can solve the problem. But when you're in the heat of battle and bullets are coming at you from all directions, this is sometimes a lot harder than it should be. Multiplayer games are going to have their success or failures determined from use of the screens, and placement of the characters. Now don't get me wrong, the game isn't broken because of that, but it does add to the challenge. Sometimes in a not so good way. - No Single Cart Multiplayer: You and your friend will need to buy this game. And if you want to play it, you both should have it. - Until you understand how this game is played, and understand how you can die, and learn how to avoid the needless deaths, you will get killed, by everything. But that's also part of the challenge. Still, it can be annoying. Overall: I'm going to put ask you a few questions and you will get your answer. 1) Do you like Contra? 2) Do you like Old School Contra? 3) Do you like hand drawn art? 4) Do you like twitch gameplay? 5) Do you like a game that understands it's hard and proud of it? 6) Do you accept its difficultly? If your final score is 0 - 1: Do yourself, and the rest of the world a favor. Avoid this game, and save yourself the time and stress. 2 - 3: Buy at your own risk and prepare for a ride 4 - 5: Buy it as soon as possible 6: Why the hell are you still reading this?!? You should be playing it, NOW!!
