Good stuff, Bored. Thanks for taking up the slack in the College Hoops Thread so far this month. The Pre-Season NIT Tournament starts today, so I'm going to do a Preview of that as well. And my comments on the USC upset, I have to admit that I was kinda laughing at that one, escpecially since a chunk of the AP voters were basing their Top 25 votes of this team with the inclusion of OJ Mayo. It's like I said on another board...Kentucky's loss to Gardner-Webb was not going to be an abbreviation, but par for the course for this season. With the way the college game is made up right now, with players from the power conference schools leaving for the pros whenever they damn well please after 1 year, it gives everyone else the chance to field teams that have played together for 3 - 4 years, giving them much more of a fighting chance to beat the Power Confernece Schools. As long as players can leave college with no 3 - 4 year commitment (like the older days), expect to see this happen a lot more often
-
Of course, this all depends on the Bulldogs overall record (minus non-division I teams), SOS and RPI. If some reason that Gardner-Webb goes on some unbelivable tear and has really good numbers all around, then Kentucky looks somewhat better in this loss. Of course, the chances of Gardner-Webb tanking, and Kentucky having an Albatross on their overall profile are that much more likely, but lets face it, no one saw last year's Butler team coming.
-
Nah, Tubby's laughing right now. I do hope, however, that Billy Gillespie hasn't unpacked. When I mean the Tubby Smith Hate Parade is going on right now, I meant that a big group of the Kentucky fans in all their delusional glory are blaming Tubby's Recruiting for their loss to Gardner-Webb. It's almost like that they missed the whole game, despite watching it. A big group of them totally ignore that the coach on the floor, and the players (Even though there were mostly Tubby's, that excuse holds very little water when you just got ran out of your gym by more than 10) were not in sync and looked horrible out there. And here is some proof of this great delusion: http://kentucky.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=8...383&style=2 I guess I should have posted this with that post, but better late than never, right?
-
In other news. The Big East expands its tournament to include all 16 teams. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=tx...t&type=lgns
-
And Kentucky loses. The Tubby Smith Hate Parade is in full swing.
-
Well, it seems like Kentucky may be worse than Memphis. It's the 2nd half, and Kentucky is down by 12..58-46
-
As a Big East Fan, I am celebrating tonight. Not only did the Bearcats beat a Pac-10 team, but USF completes the 2-0 big game week by beating Auburn, despite the kicker fucking up. Yay USF!! Yay Big East!!!

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
SilverPhoenix replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm 99.9999% sure suicide voids the policy. Unless he took out the policy more than 2 years ago, then his ex-wife and 2 daughters are getting nothing, end of story. -

It always was. The whole entire thing was window dressing to keep the dogs at bay, after Eddie died. No such luck will happen this time. -

Except that you'll never be able to buy a Benoit shirt, ever again. -

Well, considering the source, all of our worst fears have come true. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more...ex.html?cnn=yes Bloody Fucking Hell. Just Bloody Fucking Hell. -
I'm in as well. Bracket is a work in progress.
-
To all my fellow CAA fans....It's time to go on suicide watch. Xavier and Nevada both lost. Two Major/Semi-Major Schools who have all the numbers working for them. Plus to mention they've earned their bids without question... And to make matters worse. Oklahoma State and Illinois won too. Sunday is not going to be fun.

Okay, time to give you some numbers. No Teams, no Conferences. Just numbers. Team A: W-L: 17-9 (7-5) RPI: 45 SOS: 42 Last 10: 5-5 Team B: W-L 21-6 (9-4) RPI: 12 SOS: 43 Last 10: 8-2 From this information only, which team deserves the tournament more? And which team is which. (You'd be surprised whose A and B) Now, lets be fair here. There's a lot more to this than these 4 numbers, especially the signature and quality wins the teams have. However, their overall SOS is the same, and Team B has amassed more wins and has a better Last 10 Record. If Team A is to be included, you cannot give Team B a hard time, no matter the conference. As for the other team to be mentioned....They're another issue altogether.

You may have to circle that as an L. Just curious, why does Louisville hate the Quette so fucking much?

And so another Year has passed, and another year is upon us. This means one thing for College Hoops Fans. Time for the season to really begin. The out of Conference Season is about over, and the conference seasons are about to begin. There are many interesting stories this year, and the race for bids begins in earnest, now more than ever. This year is going to be really competitive, as teams from over 12 -15 conferences are going to be making cases for a bid this year. As par for the course with Janurary, the bi-weekly threads start now, and will continue through March. And to kick this off...the Top 25 Polls. AP Top 25 1. UCLA (71) 2. North Carolina (1) 3. Florida 4. Wisconsin 5. Duke 6. Ohio St. 7. Arizona 8. Alabama 9. Kansas 10. Pittsburgh 11. Texas A&M 12. Oklahoma St. 13. Butler 14. LSU 15. Marquette 16. Oregon 17. Notre Dame 18. Connecticut 19. Tennessee 20. Air Force 21. Nevada 22. Memphis 23. Clemson 24. Washington 25. West Virginia USA Today/ESPN 1. UCLA (31) 2. North Carolina 3. Florida 4. Wisconsin 5. Duke 6. Ohio St. 7. Arizona 8. Alabama 9. Kansas 10. Pittsburgh 11. Texas A&M 12. Oklahoma St. 13. Butler 14. Connecticut 15. Nevada 16. Air Force 17. Oregon 18. Clemson 19. LSU 20. Washington 21. Marquette 22. Notre Dame 23. Memphis 24. Michigan St. 25. Tennessee

Hey AP, it's your chance to piss people off. Give Boise your Championship! Too bad this won't happen.
-
And more ranked teams go down in flames. Georgetown beats Notre Dame 66-48 Alabama gets its ass kicked....again, this time Arkansas does the honors by 28 88-60.
-
And so, another November is gone. And with that, another December is here. And this year ... December is going to have a hard time following up this November. But if history is any indicator...December should be awesome. Lets begin the War month.
-
And in the "no is fucking surprised, but it's an upset because the other team was ranked" category, Notre Dame takes down Alabamba. As a Big East Fan, it's always sweet to see one of our boys, take down an SEC Team. Escpecially one that is ranked in Basketball.
-
Well, considering that the Shockers are a Top 10 - 15 team in the polls, you really should question whether it's bad form or not. Losing to legimtately good teams with good numbers is not a bad thing. Now losing to the North Dakota States of the World...Now that's a bad thing.
-
All I have to say is...What the fuck?....201 Points!!! That's amazing. I think the most amazing stat is the 21 3-pointers. The question you have the ask is this....Was Ohio-State Marion asleep on the wheel on defense, or was Sami Wylie just on fire?
-
It's that time once again. Time to turn the clocks back an hour, time to dress up (and in some cases, hook up) for Halloween, and time for the November Sun to rise. This all means one thing. Time for Another Season of College Hoops to begin, which means time for another 4 month long drama that all leads to one of the biggest events in American Sports...."March Madness." Now, I know that most of America doesn't give a fuck about College Hoops until March. But for those of us that are fans, the madness starts now with the College Hoops Black Hole that is November, and all of it's Tournaments that almost seem as fictional as a Rio De Janero Wrestling Championship Tournament, except they exist. With that said....On with the Thread. Last Years Highlights include. - The Big East lording over all others...until the Elite 8. - Florida winning the National Title after being unranked. - Georgetown upseting Duke for its biggest victory since the John Thompson era. - The Missouri Valley proving itself to be a player on the main stage with 4 bids and teams that made it to the Sweet 16 - George Mason taking down Michigan State, North Carolina and UConn to make it to the Final 4. Needless to say, 2006 was a memorable season, and it makes the anticipation of 2007 really exciting. Questions going into the season are plentiful. Among them are.... - Can Florida with its "Baby Gators" maturing, repeat as National Champions? - Can the Freshman Class that's being touted as the Greatest in many years, live up to the hype? - Mid Majors: Are they here to stay, or are they a flash in a pan? - Can the SEC really be the best conference in the Nation? - Does anyone really have a chance to Beat Gonzaga in the West Coast Conference? All of those questions and more, will be revealed as we go along in the Season. Now, lets begin.
