  1. King Kamala looking for that Poster of the Year crown in 2009!
  2. Kamala is KOABoarding hard.
  3. But naiwf, your entire premise presupposes that the team is not winning titles solely because of McNabb. Couldn't we just as easily say he's doing what he can but the organization needs to put better talent around him? I just don't agree with this notion that the team is pushing 8-12 wins each year but McNabb is failing them in the end. Replacing McNabb just seems misguided as there seems to be very little concrete evidence that he is the cause of this team coming up short. Give him a better supporting cast and see what happens. It seems like it would be a lot easier to take a team that lost a conference title game and find a few pieces to get them over the top than to tear the whole thing down and start over.
  4. McNabb may be 1/5 in NFC Championship games, but at least he's been there five times. Tom Brady is the only other current QB who can say that. Why would you blow up a team that is in the prime position to compete year after year on the small chance that you find something better? McNabb is a top five QB in this league - what is the likelihood that you can even find someone better in the next five years? Think about how many teams around the league struggle for years to find some consistency behind center and you would advocate the Eagles dumping one of the few sure things in the league because he's always been very good, but not quite great? It's been said before, but the Eagles need a go-to receiver and a bruising RB to take pressure off of Westbrook. I find it kind of preposterous that McNabb is being called a choker today when he threw for 375 yards and 3 TD. Shouldn't we be blaming Asante Samuel for failing to show up against Fitzgerald? How about the non-existent running game? Akers shitting the bed all day? Where's that backlash?
  5. I will cry for many hours if he takes this deal. That was a really loose translation on YKRG's part of what was stated in the Baltimore Sun article. It states that unnamed "sources" think that Jones will go after Lewis if he makes it to free agency and that a reasonable offer could be three years with $25 million guaranteed. There was nothing even remotely indicating that an offer is on the table in any way, shape or form. Linky goodness
  6. More Orioles stuff: Markakis signs $66 million extension MacPhail is really making all the right moves in Baltimore. It's a shame that they play in the AL East. I still have them finishing dead last in the division, but they could be competitive somewhere else.
  7. You know, I totally forgot that Adam Jones came up as a SS. He probably wasn't that good there, necessitating the move to the outfield, but that could be a good outside-the-box solution for the Orioles. Shift Jones to SS (where they need a long-term solution anyways) and then use Scott/Pie/Markakis as the outfield. Huff can DH and Millar could come back as the first baseman. All things considered, it might be the best use of their talent. Jones could probably hit well enough to cover his defensive deficiencies from the position change. It might even be a net positive by getting Huff off the field and Pie in his natural position. In other Orioles news, they acquired SP David Pauley from the Boston Red Sox for former Rule 5 pick Randor Bierd. Pauley's got a mediocre fastball, but enough control to probably eat up some innings at the back end of their rotation.
  8. I've been trying to make sure I update this along the way. Check the first post of the thread and see if your name is on the list. If it's not and you want to be in, post your stats here or in a PM Let's shoot for Wednesday for our first round of updates. That'll be about one week from the time that most people joined.
  9. I still don't understand this.
  10. Naked Pam is a sight to behold, but Tommy driving the boat with his dick is the highlight of that video. Rock stars - they're just like us!
  11. Someone help. I don't know what any of this is supposed to mean.
  12. Why do we even have post counts? Who cares?
  13. God that game hurt. My entire body was hurting for three days after that game. I damn near gave up baseball after that game. I walked around in a stupor for days. I can recall almost everything my about experience while watching that game, including where I was, what I was doing, who was with me and what happened afterwards. Every little detail is just ingrained in my head.
  14. No, folks, these guys weren't gay
  15. Agreed. There's a lot out there that falls under the umbrella of Lit. Hell, I subscribe to like a half dozen magazines and have always been looking for a place to discuss them with fellow posters. To respond to Inc, my hope is that we've come far enough in our evolution that we can have a Lit folder now. Just because it failed last time doesn't mean it will this time around.
  16. Dear Jon, We are sorry about everything that happened. Come home, buddy. Signed, Al Davis
  17. Well, we are voting on everything else so I figured why not. Spring cleaning comes early at TSM, I guess. I don't think we are asking much to expand the existing comics folder to a discussion of all literature.
  18. Cash Money had a couple of solid years, but I always thought they received an unfair amount of praise, at leastwhen compared to their contemporaries. Stylistically, they weren't that far removed from No Limit, but while they were heaped with mass praise the latter was often seen as a gimmicky label that promoted style over substance.
  19. That was a weird move and I don't really remember why it happened. There were some members who wanted it with WWE since it was a WWE product. The posters who used the folder wanted to keep it away from the WWE folder out of fear that some of the posters there would bring down the quality of discussion. Somehow the WWE folder supporters won out. I guess I can buy both explanations but General is sort of a better fit, given the tone and nature of most of the threads in that folder. This is sort of why I have pushed for an Old School folder. That's a logical place for the 24/7 stuff to go. Personally I feel a little weird interjecting into that folder because I don't have the 24/7 service. However, I often feel compelled to discuss the shows you guys have been watching.
  20. So it seems that I may have brought back a parasitic friend from my trip to Mexico. On one hand this sucks because I've spent the better part of the morning hovered over my toilet. On the other hand, this very well may give me the inside track I need to win this contest.
  21. It's just regression to the mean. Jon Lester is emerging, but he threw 210 innings last season (not including playoffs). That's roughly 60 innings more than he has ever pitched at any level. Although he is past the injury nexus that sort of innings jump has red flags all over it. I'd expect some sort of injury this season, minor or even major, that will either cause him to miss some time or negatively impact his on-the-field performance. Pedroia will be good, but not MVP-level good. That .331 BABIP might be tough to match again, even though he might have the skillset to pull it off. It's not so much that I think anything happens to his overall quality of play, it just seems unrealistic to expect something approaching his magnificent 2008 campaign. Lowell and Ortiz are older, but probably have some production left in them. Just by showing up in better health they'll outproduce their 2008 numbers. They aren't getting better per se, but merely being active contributors to the squad should offset whatever minor setbacks Youk and Pedroia suffer.
  22. I've been wanting to see Decline for years. The swimming pool scene is awesome, being both sad, funny and surreal at the same time. I read somewhere that people have blamed the movie for helping to kill hair metal. I don't see how that's possible. Isn't the life of excess and debauchery an important pillar in the whole hair metal culture? Like Motley Crue made some decent music and all, but didn't they become about ten times more interesting when you found out that most of them were so fucked up that they don't even remember entire years of their lives?
  23. Whither Circuit City? The last vestige of my clever subtitles may be coming to an end
