I'm pretty sure since the early 90s. Like 91 or 92. The Brewers are looking pretty good, especially by comparison to the rest of the NL Central.

Absolutely tragic. Rest in peace, Josh.

Pence sounds like a poor man's Josh Hamilton. Too bad he didn't start playing another year or he could have won ROY, but that award has already been taken for 2007. I dunno. Hamilton's been cooling down a bit. He's only hitting .288. And there is the possibility of the "face-down in the gutter/smack off of a stripper's ass" scenario. Do the Marlins have any good rookies? When in doubt, pick the Fish. He does have a 5 game hitting streak, and he just missed a home run tonight when he hit a ball off the wall in the deepest part of the Pittsburgh park. The problem he's facing now is since he's the only hitter in the Reds lineup worth shit he gets walked or pitched around in tons of situations. The Reds moved him to the 3 hole because he's the only guy on the team who know's how to swing a bat, and because of this he's swinging a little more as pitchers don't mind walking him anymore. Since Adam Dunn has decided to continue to suck ass, and has been moved down to the 7th spot, and since Griffey is a grandpa the Reds pretty much have nothing, and he's easy to walk. Essentially I just want to get through this year, get rid of Dunn, Milton, Hatteberg, have only one year left on Griffey, and dump David Ross. I then take that 30 million per year and spend it entirely on a new offense. Since Hamilton can play any outfield position and I don't care about anyone else, I don't care about positions, just picking out some good players. You wanna dump the Dunn-key? I can understand Milton, Hatteberg, Ross, etc., but Adam Dunn? Sure, he only hits .220, but 100 BB, 40 HRs? How bad is he doing this year?

The Astros went ABOSLUTELY BONKERS~!!!!!! in the 5th inning against Astro Killer Dave Bush. Hunter Pence fouled off about 85 pitches in his first at-bat and then got hit by a pitch. And now they're laying it on in the 6th to bring it to 7-1. Pence got his first hit and scored from first on a double. Hot shit. Edit: I totally shoulda went to the game tonite. They're giving away stadium blankets and the 'Stros are winning 10-1 in the 6th.

I also really liked him in That Thing You Do. Good movie, that. -

I find it odd that nobody's mentioned Forrest Gump yet in a Tom Hanks thread. Easily that was his best role, overexposed as it may be. Second best was in The Green Mile. Third best was on Bosom Buddies. -
Well, the Astros are back on Joe Morgan's bad side, as they designated black/Japanese Stephen Randolph for assignment, stuck Chris Burke on the bench and have called up uber-prosepct Hunter Pence. Pence is now the starting CF and will be batting 2nd tonite. Hot shit!

Unless you're JJ Hardy, you don't need to apologize. Condolences, however, will be accepted.

And here come the Sawx with bases loaded on Pettitte right back in the 5th.

By virute of this report, I am starting a petition to transfer ownership of the 1986 WS Title from the New York Mets to the Houston Astros. With everything else the 80s' Mets were involved with, I think PEDs are the least offensive.

So, lately I've been thinking about downloading some Squirrel Nut Zippers...

He's probably under my bed. I was looking for my socks this morning. I looked everywhere and couldn't find em. Sure enough, they were right there under my bed.

So, my brother's got a baby on the way and he decided to quit smoking. He decided to go all 'new age hippie' and get acupuncture. I don't think it worked, but now he has several tiny wounds on his back. I also heard that it's easier to quit smoking if you fast for a couple days while going cold turkey. Something about the cravings being related to the hypothalamus which also regulates hunger, and if you're not eating, since it's one of the necessary bodily activities, the hypothalamus concentrates on the hunger and lessens the craving. I guess that's why smoking is so much fun after meals (and after Macgyver).

Oh my God, BJ Penn talking shit about Wang's shitty fighting and fake crying is the greatest Ultimate Fighter moment this week. And in the previews for next week, it looks like De Souza flips out and Crazy Cory finally gets a fight. Sweet.

4 1/3, 4ER 5 K? Not too bad, I guess. John Smoltz signed an extension w/ the Braves through 2010. Hall of famer? I think so.

Gee...he looks like a giddy Eddie Money. -
The difference between Aaron and Bonds is that Aaron got death threats from narrow-minded bigots because of something he had no control over and shouldn't have been an issue; Bonds gets death threats from baseball fans because he's an obnoxious ass that had complete control over his actions. The sad thing is that he probably would've gone down as one of the top two or three players ever in the game even without his copious alleged steriod use.

The Giants are on the road in Philly the first week of June. I'd LOVE to see what would happen if Barry hit 756 there.
-
That would be something if he gets to within one of the record and just gets an IBB every at-bat for the rest of the season.
-
I'm not concerned about Tim Kurkjian's opinion on Bonds. The only one that matters in that regard is Pedro Gomez. How could anyone ever forget 'Bonds Watch: 2006'? How would MLB go about making sure that Bonds breaks the record at home? They can't force the Giants to not play him in road games, huh?

Burke doesn't reach base enough to clog the bases. He's Dusty's kind of player, for sure.

The Astros do have a pretty diverse roster. They have clean-cut white guys from all parts of the United States.
-
The Astros lost like their 18th in a row. They've left about 300 men on base during this three-game sweep by the Pirates. Rick "Double Balls" White went on the DL. The Astros called up Stephen Randolph, who is both black AND Japanese, so hopefully that gets Joe Morgan off of their back.
