Discussion: Possible DC Universe Movies

Well wouldn't they just take Routh's look and just use CGI effects? -
I too thought the music in this film was great. I really enjoyed that creepy siren sound whenever the Joker appeared. Its like when he's not on screen, and then you hear that, you can tell something bad is about to happen. If we're doing Batman fantasy booking, then I want Catwoman, Penguin, and Riddler to be in the next one. I'm sure Nolan could figure out a way to put all 3 in the movie. Like Lushus said, they are going to go with the top villains that draw money, and those villains certainly do. Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul made perfect villains for Begins, since the movie focuses on Batman, and his war on crime, so they made good throw away villains. The Joker just wouldn't make sense in an origin story, since he's too good of a villain to be wasted there. He needs his own movie focusing on his first battle with Batman, and The Dark Knight delivered.

Don't worry, you didn't miss much.

Anyone else think that Russo has pretty much killed Abyss's career? Before Russo took over in late 2006, he was one of my favorites in TNA, then Russo had to pick somebody on the roster to fuck up, and it had to be him. He was put in that terrible feud with Sting that was just silly and made no sense. Especially that "go to heaven match" or whatever. Then they blatently rip off Kane by revealing that James Mitchel was his dad, then Mitchel got released, and Abyss wasn't seen for months. Ever since Russo started booking the guy hasn't been the same.

I think Palumbo might be finished. It isn't a good sign when people get drafted to a show, and they don't appear in about 4 weeks. That usually means they will probably get released. The only time when someone didn't show up for weeks after the draft, was when Chavo got drafted to Raw and did the Kerwin White gimmick. Although that was pretty much the same as being released.

JR and Lawler to reunite on Monday...

The worst announcing team ever was Cole and Coach though. Remember that one episode of Smackdown this year, when there was a cage match with Michaels and Flair against the Edgeheads? There were amazing emotional spots where the Edgeheads were beating down Flair real bad in front of Michaels, making him watch. Cole and Coach stay quiet this entire time and don't sell this at all to the fans. Thats when I knew they needed to get rid of that announce team. -
That gimmick was terrible. You can't have a gimmick like that in wrestling, because it doesn't fit in the wrestling world. When the rednecks first saw him on the screen they hated him and assumed he is supposed to be a terrorist, and it makes them hate him even more by trying to make him an innocent Arab American. Rednecks won't buy it, they don't want to see WWE try to preach to them. It didn't help that they booked him as a heel, as the gimmick wouldn't possibly get over that way. I mean, they state on TV that he's NOT a terrorist, yet they have him be a douchebag heel anyway! Hell, I think the gimmick would have been better if they stated from the start that he was a terrorist coming into WWE to cause trouble. He at least, might have drawn heat that way. You notice by the time they wanted to main event him, they changed his character to that. They also picked the shittiest worker to do that gimmick.

Exactly. Thats why I want all of this Bane silliness to go away. He pretty much has zero shot at ever being on the big screen again. And I know Bane is a mastermind and all, but like I've stated before, he's also a coward. I know the other villains won't win a straight on fight with Batman neither, but they at least try, they're not afraid of him. And Bane was the worst part of knightfall, as villains like Zsaz, Joker, and Scarecrow all steal the show.
-
Muhammad Hassan? Ugh! He was terrible. No way do I miss him. In fact, why do so many people on the internet like the guy? He couldn't wrestle, couldn't work a mic, and had a terrible gimmick. Whats to like about him? The only thing good about the GAB 2005 is seeing his gimmick killed off. He was also one of those bad gimmicks they pushed hard too.

Yeah, Cole and Lawler are terrible. They have no chemistry at all. They're probably the one black eye on Raw right now. I've enjoyed the hell out of Foley and Ross on commentary. That was a pretty good idea. You know what? I think I actually like Adamle/Tazz better than Cole/Lawler. At least with Adamle, he will say something so fucking stupid it will make you laugh. Cole however, isn't so bad he's funny, he's just BAD. I mean who couldn't laugh at Adamle's horrible puns of Evan Bourne's name? -
Yeah, I enjoyed it better on the 2nd time too. There were details and things that weren't really clear to me the first time I watched it. 2nd time I pretty much noticed everything. And I think The Dark Knight is very rewatchable because its fun. Sure its dark and disturbing, but its also very fun. I don't know how anyone couldn't have fun during the semi truck scene. The Bat-pod's debut was awesome.

Well, I've wondered this question myself, since Batman has very good villains that are supernatural. If Nolan said he wouldn't do Mr. Freeze, well, I couldn't blame him, because I don't think Freeze has any drawing power anymore. Same thing with Ivy and Bane. I think Freeze and Ivy were only popular in the 90's because of the animated series. That begs the question, why do so many people want to see Bane in the next movie? Talk about a character who is dated, and a one trick pony, its obviously him. Just because he broke Batman's back doesn't mean he's a good villain.
-
The Dark Knight's one of those movies that just rules though. Its got good acting, action, and themes. Thats why its very rewatchable, its one of those movies when it comes out on DVD, you can watch it about every day. Iron Man is like that too, but not as much. There's also people who just love seeing Batman fight the Joker, so thats another reason why The Dark Knight's done such huge business. And I think the Joker's the most popular comic book villain. Thats probably why Batman Begins didn't do huge business, Scarecrow, and Ra's Al Ghul aren't the most popular villains out there, so that wasn't going to attract the mainstream too well. And it also was coming off the heels of Batman & Robin too.
-
The only way Freeze will make the big screen again is if Nolan's not directing. I think the movies after Nolan should follow the same style, as in realistic, but they might have to incorporate more supernatural villains. Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze could work very well in a realistic world I think. You just have to make them seem convincing, as in good CGI, and well written. The animated series did a good job of this. They took those characters and grounded them in reality.

Well, I questioned about a week ago about why there was another X-Files movie, and judging from those numbers, it looks like everyone else agreed with me. I mean the last movie was 10 years ago, who would have thought anyone still cared about the X-Files?
-
Did you think the Joker was funnier than anything you saw in Step Brothers? Because that would be ironic. A movie thats meant to be a comedy isn't funny, and a movie that is disturbing and psychological is. Thats what I loved about Ledger's performance, he was very funny at times and also very disturbing.
-
Matt Damon? Ugh! That would have been terrible. He wouldn't be believable at all as Harvey Dent. I think it was interesting that Liev Shrieber was considered for the part. He actually looks dead like Dent from the Long Halloween.
-
Yeah, I thought Eckhart was great in this. Some people actually say that he carries the movie. I think Harvey Dent is meant to carry the movie though, since its his story arc being told. Its good to see that Batman is the main character in his own movie though, since no one was overexposed, and got the right amount of screen time.
-
Well, I own all of the Apes films, and I'm not ashamed either. I think Battle and the remake suck, but there not terrible like people make them out to be. There just unspectacular. Come to think of it, I couldn't think of any movie Tim Roth was in after that remake, before the new Hulk movie.

I actually hope the Man of Steel movie gets made, as I feel the ultimate Superman movie hasn't been made yet. I'm liking the direction I'm hearing that the movie might have, with it having way more action and Superman being depicted as an "angry god". The choice of villains sound real good too, which is Brainiac and Bizarro. I think those are Superman's best villains as they can actually fight him. -

Wow, Vampiro, your casting choices look just like the characters. I mean, its almost scary. Especially the Eric Bana/Green Lantern one. -
Really? I thought Sweeney Todd was awesome. Very bizarre movie. A musical thats very violent and bloody, even funny at times. Thats about the only musical I can watch.
-
HOLY SHIT! This movie might make more than $500 million when its theatrical run is over!
-
Yeah, I too thought Conquest was cool as hell. Burton's Planet of the Apes didn't make me mad or anything, I just thought it was unspectacular. I will say that Burton's visual style is great, but I don't really like the gothic look of the first two Batman movies. Batman should be grounded in reality, which Nolan has done a great job of doing, but Burton's Batman movies feel like dark fantasy type stuff. I think the only reason why his Batman movies don't get trashed is because there was 1 good performance in each movie. Jack Nicholson in the first movie(although Ledger's performance blows his out of the water) and Michelle Pfifher in the second one. Besides those two performances, those movies are unwatchable.

Have the estimates predicted what the total might be?
